We bought this wonderful 2014 Focus 4 door SE hatchback for our 2nd car just before we decided to buy a travel trailer for our retirement. Now we need a larger vehicle to tow the trailer. So, we are going to take a significant loss and someone is going to save thousands over new. We did quite a bit of research before we bought the car and all reviews were outstanding...great handling, fun to drive, 36mpg, etc. so we went with the Focus rather than a Honda or Toyota. As the photos show, the car is white with charcoal and black interior. The tires were upgraded from standard equipment to Michelins when we bought it. The car has an automatic transmission, "Sync" and hands free technology (Blue Tooth, etc.), flex fuel capacity and we put a Drawtite 1 1/4" hitch on it for our bicycle carrier. It only has @ 9,000 miles on it. We drove it to Florida and back for one third of those miles. The rest were mainly highway between Bloomington and Peoria to visit our grandkids. The factory warranty is of course in effect...36,000 mi. bumper to bumper, 60,000 power train, 60,000 corrosion, etc. Not a ding anywhere on the car. *The swirls that appear to be on the seat fabric are not really there...just an illusion as result a result of the way the camera caught the weave of the fabric. The seats and rest of the interior are pristine.

Ford recalls select Explorer, E-Series vans
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Just a few days ago we brought you news that Ford had issued a recall on 28,000 units of the Edge crossover for problems related to the fuel line. But now the Blue Oval has issued recall notices on two more of its larger vehicles.
The first relates to the Explorer, 395 examples of which from the 2011 and 2012 model years were found to have problems with their steering systems if they underwent service after September 1, 2013. An apparent software glitch could lock the steering gear, preventing the driver from steering the vehicle and thereby increasing the risk of a crash. As a result, Ford dealers are being instructed to check their records to identify the problematic vehicles and bring them in to have the steering gear replaced. The second problem revolves around E-Series vans that may develop bubbles in their windshields under hot temperatures. The decrease in visibility through the problematic windshield could - you guessed it - "increase the risk of a crash." As a result, Ford is calling in 4,532 units of the E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 vans built in the relatively short window between May 12 and May 26, 2011. Ford Transit production fires up, American Pickers among first takers
Wed, 30 Apr 2014Not long ago, the History Channel showed a seemingly unending stream of World War II documentaries, but it made a switch a few years ago to include an increasing mix of 'reality' programming. American Pickers was one of the early attempts at this new formula, with cameras following hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz around the country in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter as they tracked down collectibles and "rusty gold" for their Iowa shop, Antique Archeology. The show has since gone on to become one of the channel's most popular programs.
Starting in the new episode airing tonight, the affable hosts will swap their Benz for a 2015 Ford Transit, a nicely timed bit of marketing to coincide with the launch of the model's assembly at the Blue Oval's Kansas City Assembly Plant, which also kicks off this week. Ford is touting 2,000 new jobs created as part of its $1.1-billion investment in the plant.
No strangers to product placement, the guys from American Pickers say their switch away from the Sprinter is because they wanted to balance cargo capacity and fuel economy to make the most of their cross-country jaunts. They opted for the largest Transit available with a long wheelbase, extended body and high roof, giving them 487 cubic feet of cargo room. Hauling power comes from a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel engine with 190 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque and a six-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. Fittingly, the van wears the same Antique Archaeology logo over white paint as their old Sprinter.
