I have been the only owner of this 2007 Ford Focus SE manual hatchback.  It was purchased brand new in October 2006 in Gainesville, Florida. There are no major mechanical problems. The steering wheel is a little difficult to turn from a dead stop, but once moving the steering is normal. Power steering level is full so this may be due to the power steering pump. Oil changes have been kept up every 3000-5000 miles. There are a few minor scratches and one small dent near the front of the hood. I have had garage parking since moving to Chicago in 2011. I installed a brand new Bosch Battery in June 2014. The battery has a 36/96 month warranty. The car was taken in for a tune up in June 2014 where new spark plugs were installed by the dealer.  Air Conditioning and Heat work properly.

Only one accident to report.  I let off the brake at a stop light and bumped the car ahead of me.  No damage was done to their vehicle and the only damage done to my car was cracking the plastic license plate cover.

In 2008 I took the car to Best Buy and installed a 1000 Watt Kenwood Amp, Pioneer Radio Deck, Ipod Connector, and XM Antenna/Radio.  Radio Remote and XM Radio Remote are included.  All of the wires are hidden as they were professionally installed by Best Buy.  The Ipod Connector is in the glove box so once the Ipod is plugged in, it is out of sight.  Simply plug in your Ipod and control  the rest from the remote or manually from the radio.  The Pioneer Radio includes a CD player that allows for one CD/MP3 CD.  All of the XM hardware is already installed.  Simply purchase a subscription to XM Radio and you can listen to Sirius/XM Radio while driving.

This Ford Focus comes with a Moon Roof that opens completely or to whatever you extent you want.  The Moon Roof also flips up.  The car also has front and rear windshield wipers.  The upholstery in the car is in great condition.  I do not smoke and have never allowed anyone to smoke in the car.

Title is clean and record is available of passed emissions test as well as any mechanical work/oil changes done.

This car is very dependable as I have driven it since 2006 without any mechanical issues.  The five speed manual transmission makes it ideal for driving in snow.  Being from Florida, I was worried about how the car would perform in the snow.  I can attest that the car has handled Chicago winters very well.  This car is very quick and if you like driving a stick shift you will enjoy driving this 5 speed!

The Kelly Blue Book value for this car in Good Condition is $3065.  I will be asking for slightly more than this due to the installed audio equipment.

Payment will be required 7 days after the sale is completed.  I will accept Cashier's Check, Personal Check, or Cash.  I will require a $500 deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of auction end.  Shipping/Pickup of the vehicle will be the buyer's responsibility.

Why Ford's Alan Mulally would be right for Microsoft, or any company

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

That Mulally was seriously being considered says a great deal about Microsoft and Mulally.
It appears that the chatter about Ford CEO Alan Mulally possibly leaving early to take over as CEO of Microsoft is losing air pretty fast. What's pretty interesting is that it got any traction in the first place.

Transit Courier completes Ford's new commercial van line, will we get it?

Sat, 13 Apr 2013

This week Ford rolled out the 2014 Transit Courier, the fourth addition to its Transit range. Ford says its the first time for the nameplate in the compact van segment.
"Ford has now completely transformed its commercial vehicle line-up, with four all-new, class-leading Transits for European customers," said Barb Samardzich, vice president of product development for Ford Europe. "With the all-new Transit range, we expect sales to grow to 400,000 units per year by 2016, well over 50 percent more than we sell today."
When the Courier goes on sale in the Spring of 2014, it will offer more than 1,400 pounds of payload capacity, multiple mounting points for racks or other framework and a rear cargo area that can carry items 5.3 feet-long. An optional folding passenger seat boosts the cargo length to 8.5 feet.

The next-generation wearable will be your car

Fri, Jan 8 2016

This year's CES has had a heavy emphasis on the class of device known as the "wearable" – think about the Apple Watch, or Fitbit, if that's helpful. These devices usually piggyback off of a smartphone's hardware or some other data connection and utilize various onboard sensors and feedback devices to interact with the wearer. In the case of the Fitbit, it's health tracking through sensors that monitor your pulse and movement; for the Apple Watch and similar devices, it's all that and some more. Manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality. As evidenced by Volvo's newly announced tie-up with the Microsoft Band 2 fitness tracking wearable, car manufacturers are starting to explore how wearable devices will help drivers. The On Call app brings voice commands, spoken into the Band 2, into the mix. It'll allow you to pass an address from your smartphone's agenda right to your Volvo's nav system, or to preheat your car. Eventually, Volvo would like your car to learn things about your routines, and communicate back to you – or even, improvise to help you wake up earlier to avoid that traffic that might make you late. Do you need to buy a device, like the $249 Band 2, and always wear it to have these sorts of interactions with your car? Despite the emphasis on wearables, CES 2016 has also given us a glimmer of a vehicle future that cuts out the wearable middleman entirely. Take Audi's new Fit Driver project. The goal is to reduce driver stress levels, prevent driver fatigue, and provide a relaxing interior environment by adjusting cabin elements like seat massage, climate control, and even the interior lighting. While it focuses on a wearable device to monitor heart rate and skin temperature, the Audi itself will use on-board sensors to examine driving style and breathing rate as well as external conditions – the weather, traffic, that sort of thing. Could the seats measure skin temperature? Could the seatbelt measure heart rate? Seems like Audi might not need the wearable at all – the car's already doing most of the work. Whether there's a device on a driver's wrist or not, manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality.
