1940 Ford Other 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe 40's on 2040-cars
Franklin, Tennessee, United States
Feel free to ask me any questions about the car : adrieneammaruschak@uk7.net .
This vehicle is was finished with it's restoration in the early 90's. It is a great driver quality car that has one
many awards over the last 20 years in many shows and on the track. The car has only had one owner since it's Hot
Rod Restoration. The car was built from a desire that the man had since he was a teenager and turned into a life
long dream. He owned 9 of these cars over his life before he decided this one would be his perfect canvas.

This was their family Jewel. Growing up and raising kids while building their Dad built this Hot Rod. The car is
very special and needs to go to a good home so that it can be enjoyed, driven, and make many more memories.
Here are some notes and interesting facts about the car from the family that I got the car from.
It was literally pulled out of barn.
Mice were falling out as my parents drove down the highway with it on a trailer.
The first thing he did was take it completely apart.
Parts of the car were scattered all over the house.
Fenders on the back porch, hood in the basement.
The body was on really high saw horses in the attached garage with the chassis under it.
He bought it in 1985 and took his first ride with a folding chair inside in 1989.
He was forever tinkering with it, but the build was complete probably in 1990 or so.
He fabricated many of his own parts and some of his own tools in order to work on it.
The engine was his labor of love.
He loved to build engines and was superbly gifted at doing it.
The carbs were like his other children.
He could just stand and listen to them and then tweak them to run perfectly.
The clock is original and works.
The only real body work that had to be done was some patching in the rear fenders. A rare thing for a car from
Iowa.
He drove the chassis down the street with plywood and a folding chair sitting on the frame. He was very
pleased with himself.
All the stainless trim is original.
The bumpers are also original although re-chromed.
He built it exactly how he wanted it.
My mom would scrimp and save on groceries so that dad could by a part for the car.
My dad would also work overtime for parts money.
His favorite saying was "440 in a Fordie"
He wanted the license to say Fordy, but there was already a 1940 Ford truck in Iowa that had that plate so he
had to use Fordie. He was bent out of shape about that for years. He used to say "some dumb 'ol farm truck took
his plate.
He loved Dairy Queen. We would often pile in as a family and go to the Dairy Queen. Once my cousins were
visiting and my dad asked if we wanted to go for a cruise. He'd always invite us whenever he'd go out in it. We
rode around and had fun, but didn't stop for ice cream. My cousin exclaimed it wasn't a real cruise because we
didn't get ice cream.
When it came to do the paint I remember him being really apprehensive about the color sanding. It just seemed
wrong to put sandpaper on the fresh paint, but he did it exactly as instructed and it turned out great. He wanted
to be able to feather in any patches so no clear coat is on it.
Its been in several weddings and countless parades.
He put the buckets in when he put seat belts in after drag racing it. He went too fast in it and then they
wouldn't let him drag unless he put in more safety equipment. So although we have timing slips, it could have gone
faster. He would drag it with the independent suspension and carbs set as they are right now. He said he had no
idea how fast it would really go because he didn't want to drive it any faster but there was still plenty left.
He absolutely refused to have it be a "trailer queen". In fact, when my parents moved from Iowa to Florida he
wouldn't put it on a trailer to get it down there. He left it in Iowa until he could get a building built on the
FL property to put it in. Then he flew up to Iowa and drove it to FL.
I asked my mom about the body and she said the only thing my dad had to repair was the rear fenders from a bit
of rust, but the rest of the body was straight as an arrow when he found it. That's one of the reasons he bought
it

THE CAR DOES HAVE A FEW TOUCH UP SPOTS
- 20 year old restoration that has been very well taken care of in every way up till today.
- Always being stored in a temperature controlled facility.
- The car was built to drive and have fun.
- The car ended up being a show winner and a great car on the drag strip.
- The car has a few paint imperfections and has normal wear and tear you would expect.
- We have had a mechanic go over the whole car and check everything and fix everything they could find that needed
attention down to the smallest things so that we could say everything works. Down to the original clock on
the dash,
- The car is a absolute blast to drive and show.
- The only thing that is not functioning is the air condition that was added to the car and it is only because it
still to this day has never been charged with freon. The car is currently set up and running on the center 2
barrel for optimal tuning and the six pack is complete.
- We also have an extra intake and 4 barrel that is included with the car.
- The car will drop a few drops of oil over long periods of time not driven.
- The car has a few chips on the inside edges of some of the body panels that have been touched up.
- The front tires are brand new and the rear look as good as new.
- I also have a mechanic that can look at the car for someone and answer any questions.

May 2016: FCA wins, Ford and GM stumble on weak car volumes
Wed, Jun 1 2016The May 2016 sales numbers are in, and it looks as though FCA is getting some vindication for boldly cancelling two slow-selling car models. Meanwhile, Ford saw overall sales dip and GM's May volume took a big dive versus the same month in 2015. While Marchionne's decision to axe the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart has drawn criticism as being short-sighted, it's working for FCA so far. Although the Dart and 200 aren't out of production yet and no capacity has been shifted to crossover or trucks, May's numbers show that the emphasis on Jeep and Ram models makes sense right now. FCA's US sales rose 1 percent last month compared to May 2015, putting the year-to-date total at 955,186 vehicles, an increase of 6 percent compared to the same period last year. Standouts included the Jeep Renegade, Compass, and Patriot, and the Fiat 500X. Ram pickup sales were down 3 percent. And your fun fact is that Alfa Romeo sales were up precisely 10 percent, for a total of 44 4Cs sold versus 40 in the same month last year. At FoMoCo, the Ford brand took a hit to the tune of 6.4 percent from May 2015 to 2016, registering 226,190 sales last month. Lincoln showed improvement on its modest numbers, going from 9,174 to 9,807, a 6.9 percent increase. Overall, Ford was down 5.9 percent for the month to 235,997; despite the slump, year-to-date total Ford sales are up 4.2 percent to 1,112,939. Strong sellers included Escape, Expedition, F-Series, and Transit - big stuff. Most small and/or efficient models (Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, C-Max) saw sales slides. Fusion sales were also down, likely due to effects of model changeover to the freshened 2017 model. Ford has promised four new crossovers and SUVs by 2020 and if things keep trending this way the company will be able to sell them, but things could change in the next four years. GM saw the worst of it for domestic brands. Retail and fleet sales were down for each of the four divisions, with the May 2016 total dropping 18 percent to 240,450 vehicles. GM's year-to-date sales are down 5.0 percent in 2016 to 1,183,705. Both the Sierra and Silverado were down significantly, and the majority of Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac nameplates saw sales decreases, with both small cars and larger utilities included. Not even big stuff could help GM this month, it seems. We'll have more on the rest of the industry's May sales as those figures trickle in.
Meet Shelby Mustang GT500 Miller, Iowa's latest hatchet-wielding criminal
Fri, Jul 11 2014Well, we've found the long-lost cousin of yesterday's Bentley-tattooed criminal from Florida. This is Shelby Mustang GT500 Miller. No, seriously. While his name seems just like the sort of thing we'd expect the Sunshine State to produce, he actually hails from Iowa. Despite coming from the Hawkeye State, Miller was arrested for a decidedly Floridian offense – getting in a bar fight and then returning with a hatchet. The only way this story could be more Florida is if meth, a manatee or bath salts were involved. The fight, which was at the Cheap Seats Sports Bar, started off typically enough, with a verbal argument in the parking lot (please, please let his nemesis be named "Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Smith"). This, naturally, attracted passing police officers. Things were broken up and some friends took Miller to his home, which was apparently just behind the bar. That's when he returned with the hatchet tucked under his shirt. Miller promptly proceeded to take out the implement of destruction in the bar's bathroom and... forget about it entirely. Fortunately, the police hadn't left the area yet. Not surprisingly, Miller was arrested for a parole violation, as well as public intoxication and going armed with intent. Still, cool name, bro.
