1980 Ford Fiesta Modified Off Road Hot Rod on 2040-cars
Cartersville, Georgia, United States
This 1800 pound car was born in Germany in 1980 with a 1600
cc Ford tractor engine and four speed transaxle. Ford only imported them in 1978, 79 and
80. It now sports an 1800cc DOHC Mercury Tracer engine and five speed
transaxle. The engine is modified with a
Ford duraspark distributor, MSD ignition, two barrel carbureator mounted on a
custom hi RPM ram intake, electric fuel pump and a heat wrapped modified Miata
header with a single glass pack muffler.
The radiator is a custom made three row with electric fan. Instruments are Autometer, tach is a
Sun. The wheels are 13 x 6 Panasport Rallys with new radial tires. Shocks are new, springs are cut one coil,
strut rods have poly bushings with lowered brackets for anti dive (rally car
trick). Brakes are new all around. The battery, spare tire and jack are mounted
in the trunk. A Ford Focus rear sway bar
is custom mounted. The roll bar is not
race legal, it has RCI competition belts on the drivers side and regular
seatbelt on the passenger side. It has
the original paint with great patina, designed to look like an old race car
that someone peeled the stickers off and put on the street. The body is solid and has very little rust
which has only been primered to keep the old race car look. It has no computer and no emissions. On the down side the engine and transaxle are solid mounted
in a modified front subframe which transfers the engine vibrations to the
chassis. This will keep it from being a
daily driver but some rubber motor mounts could be fabricated. You will need to provide a battery, otherwise
it is ready to go. The performance of
this Fiesta is awesome. It is fast and
handles super. It corners flat and does
not dive under hard braking. It does
have a little torque steer under hard accelleraton. It looks great at cruise nights and with some
more dialing in would make a great weekend play toy. It has not been raced, we have done the hard part now it just needs
to be driven and sorted. My son is
building a BMW and I have a Saleen Speedster in the works so the little Fiesta
must go to a new home. It comes with a
custom fitted tow bar and is sold with a bill of sale and last Georgia
registration (yes it is street legal).
See the video at you tube: http://youtu.be/XcJZ3DrM6QY I am starting the bidding at the price of
the wheels, tires and radiator with no reserve.
You may call me at 678 986 1656 if you have any questions. I reserve the right to end the auction early
as the car is also advertised locally. |

2015 Ford F-150 to get 2.7-liter EcoBoost?
Mon, 30 Dec 2013As we prepare for the arrival of the all-new, next-generation Ford F-150, rumors about the new truck are picking up steam. Naturally, many of said rumors aren't just related to the way the truck will look (it's expected to take design cues from the Atlas concept shown above), they're tied to what's going to motivate the Blue Oval mainstay, with Ford's EcoBoost range likely to play an increasingly key role. While we're still expecting the current 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 to retain its position as a premium alternative to Ford's naturally aspirated V6 and V8, a Canadian automotive news site is proposing that the Dearborn automaker is also preparing a new, more fuel-efficient downsized EcoBoost option.
Autos.ca is reporting that a new, 2.7-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 could find its way into the lighter, aluminum-intensive truck. The new engine supposedly makes use of asymmetrical turbos to generate 320 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque - substantially more impressive numbers than the current 3.7-liter base engine's 302 ponies and 278 lb-ft - while offering improved fuel economy and emissions. The new 2.7 EcoBoost (internally dubbed "Nano") isn't expected to supplant the naturally aspirated V6 as the F-150's base engine, it's expected to slot in above directly it.
Naturally, we're prescribing more than a few grains of salt to go with these rumors, at least until Ford debuts the next F-150 at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, a reveal we'll be covering in a mere two weeks.
