1965 Ford Falcon Sprint. There's a pic of the door tag so you can break it down yourself if you wish.

As far as rarity:

1965 Falcon Sprint Hardtop, total production: 2806  (how many left not rusted, hacked, totaled, etc. ?)
1964 Falcon Sprint Hardtop, total production: 13,830
1965 Mustang Fastback, total production 35,698

This car is in amazing condition overall and it would be very hard to find one this nice; I know it took me forever to find this one!

Originally from California, moved to dry Eastern Washington some years later which is where I found it. 65,013 believable original miles. As far as I can tell about 6 owners.  I cannot prove the miles, but if you know cars and look at the condition on this one, I think you will agree the 65K is right. There are many elements to the car that indicate the dry life and low miles. For example, the original grill has appropriate wear for the mileage, and there are lots more "tells" as you look it over. Underneath, clean and dry, not detailed, this is an honest car!

Engine/Drivetrain:

Drivetrain all fresh/tight/ready to go. 302 is NOM, but sweet runner w/mild cam, just right for driving. Rearend has an upgraded 9" w bung added for easy lube changes. Mechanically there has been restoration and upgrades, the car needs nothing mechanically. Engine, transmission, rearend, brakes (front disc.), AC, exhaust, tires, wheels; all upgraded/repaired/maintained and fully functional.

Interior:

Near mint interior. Factory AC, works great, blows cold. If you come look at it and pay for it, I will agree to ship the car (to AZ, CA, etc.). Seats covers have been replaced, still has the original console, appears to be original carpet/headliner/sun-visors and more. E-brake works, has original handle. Turn signals, wipers, everything works! Interior needs nothing. I do have and will include with the sale the original steering wheel and all parts/springs/etc. to put it back on if someone so desired. On the drivers door upper portion, there is a dent. It looks like it took a hard elbow or something at some point along the way, don't know and no matter what, there are so many positives to the inside, this is minor, and could be fixed pretty easily too.

Body:

Near mint body. Has had one re-spray, jambs were not done, you can tell this is a black car from new, see pic showing door tag. All body panels and trim are original, there is no evidence of any accidents. Paint and panel fit/straightness is all very nice. The paint is older however, and there are 4 flaws: decklid has small rub-through, body seam from trunk on driver side has small cracking in the lead, roof and passenger door have small (50 cent size) areas of checking in the paint. Otherwise paint is very very nice and these four small imperfections are not noticed by anybody looking at the car. I know they are there and if you really inspect the car, you would find these 4 spots. This is a black car; obviously if the body was not cherry it would easily show right away.

Overall:

This one is a nice mix of "original and unrestored" and "upgraded".  It is an honest car with amazing bones and must have been garaged most of it's life. Very tough to find an original like this. At the same time, the upgrades all are very tasteful and make sense/add value (disc brakes, factory AC retained, sweet motor/exhaust, etc.).  I don't see where an all original car could be bought and put in this condition for the price, not to mention the rarity of this car. Just finding a 65 Sprint that is unhacked and somebody would let go of is near impossible. It took me many years to acquire this one. NOTE: Any/all changes were done with care and the idea that the car could easily go "back to stock". Slipping in a date coded 289, 8" rear, and putting stock rims and hub caps on would be pretty straightforward if someone wanted to.

In closing:
If not for shifting circumstances in my life, I would not let go of this car. I am a busy person with a lot of responsibilities every day at work and a Family to deal with too, so please try and contact me only if you are a serious buyer, I don't have enough spare time in a day to just chat about the car with everybody. Thanks for understanding that part, and thanks for looking!

Ford GT dominates Le Mans qualifying, gets slapped with performance adjustment

Fri, Jun 17 2016

Fifty years after Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove the Ford GT40 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is poised for a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe. The new Ford GT took the top two qualifying positions in the LMGTE Pro class, and four of the top five. Ferrari's 488 filled in the rest of the spots in the top seven, the first two from AF Corse. In other words, we're primed for a reboot of the classic Ford-Ferrari feud at this year's race. Or not, as the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, announced sweeping pre-race Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustments this morning that make this year's GT class anybody's race. In LMP1, last year's overall winner Porsche locked up the top two spots with the 919 Hybrid and will lead the entire field at race start. Toyota's two-car factory effort followed with qualifying times 1.004 and 2.170 seconds behind the pole lap. Audi rounds out the manufacturer-backed LMP1 class in fifth and sixth. Full qualifying results can be found here. The storyline for the GT cars is perfect - some say too perfect. Ford's class-leading times came after BOP adjustment to the Corvette Racing C7.R before qualifying. BOP is intended to level the playing field in the class by adjusting power, ballast, and fuel capacity. (Check out this explainer video for more, or even just if you love French accents.) But the process is riddled with unknowns and ripe for accusations of sandbagging. That is, if the Ford cars were intentionally slow in practice they could hope for BOP adjustment to improve their race chances. On the Corvette side, last year's GTE Pro winner went from the top of the field to the bottom, barely improving from practice to qualifying. If you think Le Mans is as rigged at the NBA Playoffs, well, it's not that simple. Because if Ford and Ferrari held back until qualifying - the eighth-place Porsche 911 RSR is three-and-a-half seconds off the class pole time - it was a pretty dumb strategy. This morning, the ACO tried to put things back in order by limiting the boost in the Ford GT's twin-turbo V6 and adding 11 pounds of ballast. Ferrari was also given extra weight but allowed more fuel capacity. The Corvette and Aston Martin teams were both given breaks on their air restrictors, which will allow their engines to make more power. Both Ford and Porsche also received extra fuel capacity.

Ford recalling 830,000 vehicles to replace side door latches

Thu, Aug 4 2016

The Basics: Ford is conducting a recall for roughly 830,000 models. The affected vehicles include the 2013 to 2015 Ford C-Max, 2012 to 2015 Ford Focus, 2013 to 2015 Ford Escape, 2015 Lincoln MKC, 2015 Ford Mustang, and 2014 to 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The recall is focused primarily in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, California, Arizona, Hawaii, Georgia, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Washington, and Oregon as the problem mostly affects cars in states with warm weather. The Problem: The pawl spring tab in the side door latch in the affected vehicles could break, preventing the door from latching and could even cause the door to open while driving. Injuries/Deaths: There is one reported injury and one reported accident. The Fix: Dealers will replace the affected cars' side door latches. If you own one: Reach out to your local Ford dealer to schedule a service. Watch Ken Block's scary Rally America crash from inside the cockpit

Wed, 19 Feb 2014

Ken Block became famous for his series of Gymkhana videos, but he's a real racer in his own right. Block has competed many rounds in the FIA World Rally Championship and also rallied in the 2013 Rally America series. He nearly won that latter title last year - if not for a massive crash in the final event of the season.
Block and his co-driver Alex Gelsomino went into the Lake Superior Performance Rally needing a win to take the championship. However, missing a clump of dirt on the side of the road and one little word in the pace notes was all it took to catapult Block's Fiesta off the road and into a tumbling accident. Block says his initial reaction was anger because the crash came out of nowhere.
For 2014, Block is joining the FIA World Rallycross Championship for at least three rounds. He'll drive a Ford Fiesta for the Hoonigan Racing Division at the Norwegian, French and Turkish events of the 12-round championship. Former Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve will also compete in the series.
