1964 Ford Falcon Futura 302 W/t5 (5 Speed) on 2040-cars

Year:1964 Mileage:75000
Location:

Up for auction is my 1964 Ford Falcon Futura.  I have owned this car for about five years.  I originally bought the car as an I6 automatic and, over the course of about a year, converted it to a 302 V8 5 Speed.

This car runs and drives great.  The transmission shifts very smoothly and the engine generates great power.  It's got a custom exhaust which is not too loud but will get your attention when you get on the motor.  With the front disc brakes and larger drums the car stops very well.  The car always runs at 180 to 185 degrees; never had any kind of cooling issues.  The car has been "adult" owned; no racing nor has it been driven hard.

The following is a list of modifications I've made to the car since I've owned it:
  • 302 of a 78 Ford Granada.  Heads were rebuilt to accomodate a different cam
  • Comp Cams 278H cam
  • Double roller chain / timing gears
  • High volume oil pump
  • HEI Distributor w/Ford Racing Wires
  • Edelbrock 1406 carburetor (600 cfm) w/electric choke
  • Weiand dual plane aluminum intake manifold
  • Ford Racing aluminum water pump
  • Hedman Headers
  • Aluminum Radiator (180 degree thermo)
  • World Class T5 transmission from a "fox body" Mustang (5 Speed)
  • Ford Racing clutch, flywheel pressure plate
  • Hurst stick shift
  • 8" Maverick Rear End (3.00 gears); rear end housing was powder coated black
  • Ford Grandard front disc brakes; new front hoses
  • New dual master cylinder
  • 2.5" Exhaust w/Magnaflow Mufflers
  • Auto Meter gauges (tachometer, voltage, oil pressure, temperature)
  • New engine bay wiring harness
  • Newer Interstate battery
  • V8 steering conversion done (pitman arm, idler arm, center link, upper and lower control arms); larger diameter sway bar
  • New suspension (front and rear springs, tie rods, etc).
  • New driveshaft
  • Rear air shocks with external fill
  • Floor pans coated in POR-15 and Dynamat
  • Newer tires with a lot of tread
  • New interior front / rear panels, new carpet
  • Rear trunk mat and fresh trunk seal
  • All windows and chrome are on the car.  The chrome is original, looks very nice, but is not show quality.
The following items are included in the auction but not installed on the car:
  • California Car Cover
  • Door seal rubber (enough for both doors)
  • Interior edging trim (e.g. trim which goes around the door openings)
The car is in good condition but there are some issues which I will note here:
  • The original color of the car was Wimbeldon white.  A previous owner painted it the color it is now which is a brighter white.  I would say the paint is a 5 out of 10.  It is presentable but nowhere near show quality
  • The speedometer and odometer are not connected.  The T5 housing is for an electronic speed
  • There is a small oil leak from the rear of the pan
  • There is a small leak from the rear end
  • The front windshield has a faint scratch from the passenger side wiper.  There is also a small divet in the windshield at the bottom of the passenger side
  • The horn does not work
  • The blinker switch does not have a "reset" (e.g. when you turn the wheel the blinker will not go off - you need to move the stick back)
  • There is a slight bend in the rear bumper from a previous owner.
  • The letter "A" is missing from the rear deck.  I refused to buy a Chinese made letter and was not able to find an OEM one to replace it.
  • There is a slight crease in the lower rear fender on the driver's side (you can see that in the pictures)
  • Driver's side door plunger needs to be reconnected; does not affect the operation of the lock
  • Small rip in the carpet on the passenger's side floor (about two inches)
For the high bidder a deposit of $500 is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction.  Payment must be received within 7 (seven days) of the end of the auction.  The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping arrangements including carrier and cost.

I WILL NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL AS A FORM OF PAYMENT.  I WILL ACCEPT CASH, MONEY ORDERS, CASHIERS CHECKS AND WIRE TRANSFERS.  ALL FUNDS MUST CLEAR MY BANK BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS SHIPPED.

Signature Edition Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake to get limited production run

Mon, Dec 22 2014

The upcoming Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang keeps grabbing a horde of headlines thanks in no small part to the pony car's 5.2-liter V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft, magnetic dampers and other go-fast goodies. However, as the new contender enters the ring, Shelby American is saying goodbye to the old GT500 and the company's even more powerful Super Snake version with its new Signature Edition model. Limited to a total of 50 conversions on 2007-2014 coupe or convertible GT500s, the Shelby American Signature Edition packages some of buyers' most common choices into a single vehicle with a few extra touches, as well. The heart of it all is a 3.6-liter Kenne Bell supercharger to replace the V8's standard blower and take power up to a claimed 850 horsepower for the latest models. To keep things running at the proper temp, the mill gets an upgraded radiator, heat exchanger and aluminum cooling tanks, too. The rear brakes are also improved to slow this stallion down. In addition to the boosted power, buyers get some extra style. These special Super Snakes are available in all of the colors available on them from Ford, plus a range of shades for the stripe, and the wide body package can also be added as an additional option. The limited version wears 20-inch forged wheels from Weld that are 9.5-inches wide at the front and 10.5-inches at the rear and feature Signature Edition center caps. Inside, there's a commemorative badge with Shelby's signature on the airbag cover and Signature Edition floor mats. Finally, customers get a day training at the track to learn how to control this beast as part of the package. Orders for the Signature Edition are being accepted through January 31, 2015, and the modded model is priced at $44,995.00, which is in addition to the price of the stock GT500. Ford tells Congress it collects and protects some driver data

Fri, 14 Feb 2014

Last month Ford's Jim Farley made waves at the CES when it was reported he told show attendees, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone." Farley and Ford later partially retracted and clarified that statement.
Spurred by a desire for further transparency on data collection policies, Ford representatives answered questions from Congress, specifically Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.), about driver privacy.
The Detroit News reports that Ford told Congress it does collect some vehicle location data in an effort to "troubleshoot and improve our products" on behalf of the driver. Ford went on to say that it only collects limited data after receiving permission from owners.

Leno talks racing with NASCAR racer Joey Logano

Wed, 02 Jul 2014

Jay Leno has to be under significant pressure knowing the appetite his fans have for a new Jay Leno's Garage video every week. This time, Jay takes a break from his usual format (something he's been doing with some frequency as of late) and goes back to his roots as a talk show host. There's no classic in the garage his episode with an interesting story to tell and a sumptuous exhaust note. Instead, the focus is purely on interviewing 23-year-old NASCAR racer Joey Logano about what it's like to be a racecar driver in his Ford Fusion.
Logano started racing at the tender age of six and has risen up the circle-track ranks to the big show of the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The two of them talk about what it's like to compete in the sport today compared to yesteryear, and Logano shares some racing anecdotes. Of course, they also get into what it's like to be on the racetrack controlling a car with about 850 horsepower, a four-speed manual transmission and brakes without any power boost. Scroll down to watch the video.
