PLEASE, only serious bidders:

Up for auction is a beautiful example of a 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint 4-speed (now automatic) with a 260 V8.  This car was built in the San Francisco Bay area Ford plant located in Milpitas/San Jose, California.  This car was delivered new to downtown Ford in Los Angeles and has never left California until we bought it.  This car has undergone a full ground up restoration from top to bottom including every nut and bolt.  Everything is either new or refurbished and completely stock with the exception of the c4 automatic transmission conversion.  Beginning with the body: the car has been completely striped to bare metal without hardly any body filler being used making for an arrow straight solid body.  The paint is higher end DuPont paint done in the stock Ming green teal metallic color.  This car was fully restored a little over 6 years ago and the few minor paint/body flaws have been pointed out in the pictures.  This car is virtually rust free with only a few little spots of bubbling that have been pointed out in the pictures.  This car was unbelievably solid and rust free to begin with and it still is with the exception of the minor bubbling that just started.  The driver side fender in my opinion only under only certain lighting conditions seems a tad lighter.  It is not noticeable if you’re not looking for it.  Underneath the hood has been completely blasted and painted gloss black.  The entire trunk area was completely blasted and painted body color throughout.  All the glass and rubber was pulled off the car for paint along with all the chrome and stainless, fenders, hood and doors leaving only the shell.  The car is painted completely both inside and out.  All new rubber under the hood, all windows, doors and trunk has all been replaced using factory rubber.  All felt in the windows have been replaced.  All the glass is stock fomoco car lite glass and is in excellent condition.  Most of the chrome has been rechromed using the stock factory parts.  Although there is a little flaking issue going on the front passenger side of the bumper.  The emblems and trim are original to the car and have been cleaned up and looks great.  The entire undercarriage has also been blasted and painted.  The engine is the stock 260 v8 that came in the car originally.  It has been rebuilt and has less than 4000 miles on it.  It has a 4 barrel carburetor and hedman headers.  The factory generator is still in place and has been rebuilt and works great.  A new radiator has been installed.  Everything under the engine compartment is new or rebuilt and it shows, being as clean as the outside of the car.  The factory 4 speed (which we do not have) was replaced with a c4 automatic transmission and can be converted back to a 4 speed very easily since on the clutch linkage, pedal and original transmission tunnel remain in the car.  The c4 automatic transmission has been completely rebuilt to stock specs using a tock torque converter.  It shifts awesome through all the gears.  The rear end has been completely rebuilt back to stock specs and is a 3.25:1 gear non locking differential.  The fuel system is all brand new and has been redone including having the tank dropped, cleaned and resealed.  It was reinstalled with new straps, nuts and bolts all new filters, fuel lines and fuel pump etc.  All the suspension has been completely gone through using all new shocks, springs, bushings, upper and lower ball joints, and rear leaf springs.  The car rides very nice down the road and tracks straight.  All the brakes have been completely redone including, all new wheel cylinders, brake lines, shoes and the drums have been turned.  The car brakes excellent and straight.  All new exhaust through flowmaster mufflers make this falcon sprint sound sweet.  All the electrical has been completely gone through using a factory harness that is not all butchered and spliced together meaning that everything works as it should high beams, low beams, turn signals, brake lights, dash cluster light and dome light.  An aftermarket falcon am/fm mp3 compatible head unit was installed in place of the factory am radio so no cutting of the dash has been done and it can be switched back to am at any time.  The entire interior has been completely redone to stock specs using factory light turquoise crushed vinyl with medium turquoise crushed vinyl (single welt) and it looks absolutely amazing.  All the door panels have been replaced with factory door panels.  The carpet has been replaced.  The headliner has been replaced and rear package tray.  The only thing not original in the interior is the factory replacement am/fm stereo, b&m floor mount shifter and the factory missing tach.  All window cranks, door handles, emblems and center console are original to the car along with the factory faux wood steering wheel.  All metal in the interior was completely sanded, prepped and painted body color and it look amazing.  The 4 speed clutch pedal is down to the floorboard and covered with carpet but the carpet will pull back to access the pedal if you decide to change it back to 4 speed.  The old Stewart Warner oil temp and water pressure gauges were added sometime in the 1960’s.  All interior components work as they should.  The trunk has been completely detailed using the stock plaid trunk mat.  The stock 14” steel wheel has been sandblasted and painted gray. The quarter panel cardboard fillers have been replaced as seen in the pictures and again all new rubber so there is no leaking.  The wheels are VN605 American racing torq thrust rims and the tires are P195/75R14 Cooper trendsetters.

All in all this is a terrific car that will continue to go up in value due to its rarity.  Remember this car has been restored from the ground up over 6 years ago.  This car is a true show stopper and draws attention and comments wherever we take it.  People always want to talk about it.  This is over 32k invested in restoration costs alone not including the original purchase price of the vehicle so whoever wins this is going to get one awesome car for one awesome deal if you have ever wanted a falcon sprint this is your opportunity to own one you can hop in and drive anywhere and will never leave you stranded.

Good luck.

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Recharge Wrap-Up: Tesla, CarCharging and the EPA

Sat, Aug 23 2014

Credit Suisse analysts are bullish on Tesla. The group gives the electric car company's stock an "outperform" rating with a target price of $325. For its continued success, Credit Suisse cites the vehicles' superior technology, in turn offering more torque, roominess and reliability. Says analyst Dan Galves said of Tesla's competition with ICEs, "If Tesla can get to cost-parity with Internal Combustion vehicles and still offer $1,400 to $2,500 per year fuel savings to the consumer, it won't be a fair fight." Read more at Yahoo Finance or at Business Insider. In other Tesla news, Tesla Model S owners will be able to unlock and start their car using an iPhone. The Tesla app is adding this functionality soon, perhaps with the update to iOS 8. It's not yet clear how this function will work, but it's one more innovative convenience feature that Model S owners can enjoy. That means drivers will have less to carry in their pockets or purses when they go for a drive. Read more at 9 to 5 Mac. CarCharging Group has remotely lowered the amperage on some of its residential users' Blink charging stations to 24 amps. This will slow down the charging time for affected customers with 6.6-kilowatt charging by about 15 percent. The company cited safety reasons for the move, with concerns about overheating. The amperage reduction is temporary, until CarCharging is able to provide replacement parts for the chargers. Some are concerned about the delayed action, as well as the fact that the reduction was handled without owner permission. Read more at Plugin Cars. Ford is halting test drives and sales of certain C-Max hybrid and Focus models due to a safety concern. Cars made during a single week this month at a Michigan factory may not have enough ball bearings in the steering gear assembly, which could lead to loss of control. None of the affected cars have been sold, Ford says, and about 50 units are currently at dealerships. Just over 600 will need to be recalled. Dealerships have been notified of the problem. Read more at Reuters and the The Detroit News. A new EPA report shows that urban air in the US is becoming less toxic since the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. The report shows a 66-percent reduction in benzene, almost 60 percent reduction in mercury from man-made sources, 84 percent less lead and more.
