Redding, California, United States

Up for your consideration is a RARE 1963 Ford Falcon Ranchero Deluxe, after doing some research there is thought to be only about 200 of these left! How many with the original running gear is any ones guess!

The Truck is pretty much original, a few changes have been made. It was born Corinthian White (exterior), Red Crush Vinyl and White Crush Vinyl (interior) with a bench seat.***note***the color on the inside of glove box door is original.

The exterior paint was two toned some time in its life, bucket seats were added (should have a bench seat), mirrors, hubcaps, radio/speakers changed. If one wanted it would not take too much to bring back to stock. If you look up the VIN DECODER it will tell you what it was born with. I will list the codes for the running gear.

Engine: C30E-6015B 4.3 L Windsor 260 V8

Transmission: C3AB-7006

Bell Housing: C3AA6394C

Rear End: C70W-A  3:25:1

What I know, the Motor was rebuilt some time in its life, mileage unknown, but runs good. Floor pans have been replaced. There was rust around the rear quarters and I had them professionally repaired with metal, (welded) not bondo. Paint was some what touched up, but needs to be professionally done. There are a few dents, scrapes, dings etc. Fine as a driver, but I think this survivor deserves a full restoration. Grill, bumpers, light housings are not the greatest. Don't get me wrong this Truck is pretty strait!

New parts: Tires, clutch, battery, carb, fuel pump, distributor, wires, export brace, idler arm the truck was aligned and brakes were good. Yes it runs, drives and stops, current CLEAN title, lights and blinkers work.

Known things that it needs: heater hooked, windshield wiper motor hooked up, horn doesn't work! Shifter has worn (original) but operates, speedo is not accurate (jumps around), carpet and seats reupholstered  and probably a few other things that I don't know about!

All in all this is a nice driver or an excellent candidate for a full restoration!

The Truck will be available for viewing @ Kool April Nights car show, Redding, Ca. From today till Sunday the 27. It is also for sale locally.

Being sold as is where is if you have any questions you may call me direct, Mark @ (530) 356-0762

If you have any shipping questions you may call: Miller Auto Transport Broker, Bill Miller @ (530) 945-6973 He is here in Redding and I have used him a few times before.

How privacy fears are driving automakers in the age of the connected car [w/poll]

Wed, Aug 27 2014

A recent GAO report concluded car companies don't adequately disclose how and why they share location data. As cars collect and store more and more data about the whereabouts of their drivers, automakers are responding to critics who say they should be more transparent about how those details are used. Ford is hiring a global privacy policy attorney to craft the company's customer privacy policies in the era of connected and autonomous cars. "In this emerging space, there is an important need to address customer privacy policies," reads a job description posted on the "people and careers" portion of the company's website. "As part of our compliance and ethics organization at Ford, this person will have an immediate and direct impact in shaping existing and future policy and corporate thinking in this area." Ford is creating the new position, based at its Dearborn headquarters, at a time technology advances are outpacing privacy protections. Earlier this year, a report from the federal government concluded car companies don't adequately disclose to motorists how and why they share location data. That report, from the Government Accountability Office, found many car companies did not describe how they shared location data, did not allow consumers to request their data be deleted and that there was a "wide variation" in how car companies retained vehicle-specific or identifiable location data. It noted there is increased risk of location data being used in ways "consumers did not intend." Ford was one of 10 companies the GAO surveyed while compiling its report. Customers are opting to share that data largely by using features like maps and turn-by-turn direction that are run by a vehicle's telematics unit. Depending on the company, it can be unclear how that data is collected, retained or shared. At the time the GAO report was issued, AAA, the nation's largest motoring club, urged carmakers to be more transparent in how they handle data and to offer stronger security protections. Shaping Autonomous Car Regulations At Ford, the new hire could change how the company handles that data. According to the job description, the successful applicant will, "demonstrate visionary thinking around privacy strategy – imagine how consumer and employee expectations around privacy may evolve and how business should adapt, develop approaches that maximize the benefit of data sharing for consumers and business, etc." (Emphasis from Ford).

United States drivers buying fewer Mexican-made cars

Tue, May 10 2016

Crossovers and pickup trucks are not only growing in market share, they're also more profitable than cars. A crossover on the same platform as a sedan retails for thousands more, despite similar components. It's one of the reasons we've seen automakers rapidly shifting production of their sedans and hatchbacks to Mexico, where cheap labor preserves the thin profit margins on these inexpensive vehicles. But as the market continues to shift in the United States, Mexico is getting burned by its lack of product diversity. The country's auto exports, which are heavy on cars, suffered a 16-percent drop last month, Automotive News reports. In total, year-over-year exports fell from 233,515 to 197,020 last month, while year-to-date exports are down by 7.4 percent, from 922,029 to 854,118. The number one culprit? America – which usually accounts for 75 percent of Mexico's exports – and its appetite for crossovers and pickup trucks bolstered by cheap gas prices. While Mexico does build some light truck models – AN specifically calls out the Ram 2500, Honda HR-V, GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tacoma as export leaders – the vast majority of vehicles rolling out of its factories are sedans and hatchbacks. In fact, the three biggest drops in Mexican exports came from companies whose south of the border factories only build cars – Ford (Fusion/Lincoln MKZ and Fiesta), Mazda (Mazda3), and Volkswagen (Golf and Jetta). Mexican Automotive Industry Association President Eduardo Solis told AN the export shortfall will likely be sorted out sooner rather than later, thanks to a pair of new factories – a Kia car factory and an Audi SUV plant – that are coming online by year's end. The two facilities will add around 100,000 vehicles to the country's export totals, which Solis said should leave the industry on the verge of breaking another export record in 2016. But how sustainable will these record-breaking years be? Slapping an "Hecho en Mexico" sticker on a new German SUV won't be enough to change the fact that Mexico's product mix is tilted too heavily towards body styles that are not growing in volume. Mexico's record-breaking export years probably aren't at an end, but we'd argue they're certainly under threat. 1964 Ford GT40 prototype sells for $7M

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Seven-figure Ferraris are not horribly rare. Heck, an eight-figure Ferrari isn't a rare occurrence. Between modern masterpieces like the Enzo and more classic offerings, cracking the million-dollar mark isn't a particularly tall order for the cars from Maranello. For a Ford, though, it's a big deal.
Now, this is not just some rare Mustang. This is a GT40, the car that Henry Ford II commissioned to whip Enzo Ferrari around a track in France. As far as the Le Mans-winning racers go, they don't get much rarer than this one. Sold at the Mecum Auctions in Houston, this is one of the prototypes, meaning it's one of the very first GT40s ever built. That makes its $7 million winning a bid, a record for on-air coverage of the auction, a pretty darn impressive figure.
You can watch the auction below, but first, take a look back at our original story on this rare Blue Oval.
