1962 Ford Falcon Futura on 2040-cars

Year:1962 Mileage:250
Location:

Peoria, Arizona, United States

Peoria, Arizona, United States

I purchased this 1962 Ford Falcon Futura from the original owner four years ago.  She gave me the sales receipt from Don Sanderson Ford, here in AZ and I will include it with the car.  I have put a lot of time and money into the car and know I will not get it back.  I would like someone else to enjoy it now.  There have been many modifications and I will do my best to list them all:
  • 302 out of a 91 mustang bored out to a 307. Totally stripped down cleaned etc.
  • Trickflow TFS 170 Aluminum Heads.  New rocker arms and Comp Cam.
  • Holley 650 double pumper, new starter, HEI distributor
  • Edelbrock RPM Air Gap manifold
  • All new Painless wiring
  • Aluminum Radiator
  • Altima Red Battery in trunk, with kill switch
  • Gas tank cleaned and flushed, brand new lines
  • Disc Brakes up front, Drums in rear.  All new lines and hoses.
  • Weld Drag lites and BFG radials
  • V8 steering conversion done (pitman arm, idler arm, center link, upper and lower control arms replaced from a 65 v8 mustang
  • Ford 9" rear end.  Completely disassembled and everything new.  It is a 3.50 POSI.
  • New drive shaft
  • Rebuilt C4 transmission with a B&M Shifter. Transmission Cooler.
  • Doug Thorley Tri Y Ceramic Long Tube Headers, with a very custom Magnaflow Dual Exhaust that sounds incredible
  • Freshly painted inside and out.  New headliner, door and kick panels, carpet, seals, and cat whiskers. I did not do the seal around the front triangle window.  It does show some wear.
  • The upholstery was done when I first stared the car.  The back seat looks amazing, but the fronts are not show quality.
  • All windows and Chrome are on the car.  The chrome is original, looks very nice, but is not show quality.
I am sure I am forgetting something, but please take a look at the pictures and ask questions before bidding.  Thank you.

Ward's Automotive Ten Best Engines of 2014 dominated by diesels, turbos

Thu, 12 Dec 2013

With the Car and Driver Ten Best decided, the North American Car and Truck of the Year finalists announced and Cadillac, Ram and Subaru chalking up wins with Motor Trend, it's fair to say that the automotive awards season is in full swing. The next set of trophies to be handed out will be from Ward's Automotive, which has announced the winners of its 2014 10 Best Engines.
The latest contest was marked by the widespread emergence of diesel power and the continued success of turbocharged engines. There was even an electric motor on this year's list. In fact, only three of the ten winners were naturally aspirated and only two winners returned from last year.
"We weren't looking to throw the bums out, as they might say about an election. We were just really impressed with the flood of new powertrains," said Ward's Automotive Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter. Those new powertrains include the 83-kilowatt electric motor from the Fiat 500e, the 1.0-liter, EcoBoost three-cylinder from the Ford Fiesta and the 2.0-liter turbodiesel from the Chevrolet Cruze.

National Geographic Channel balances Ford F-150 on four coffee mugs

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Proving that there is still something to be learned on television these days, National Geographic Channel recently introduced a new series called Duck Quacks Don't Echo. On the first episode of this science/comedy show, host Michael Ian Black proposes the idea that a truck can be supported with a ceramic coffee mug under each wheel - yes, he says that the entire weight of a truck can be balanced on just four coffee mugs.
Looking to find out whether this is fact or myth, the show uses a regular cab Ford F-150, weighing in at 4,800 pounds, and four average coffee mugs. Lowered onto the mugs, the idea is quickly put to the test. Can the cups hold up under 4,800 pounds? If so, what, exactly, would it take to break them? Scroll down below to find out.

How Ford's light lab keeps the sun shining on the new Mustang just right [w/video]

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

Anyone who's bought one of those old school metal shift knobs knows they're really cool until they sit in a parking lot in the sun for a few hours. Then they're not cool at all. Likewise, features such as the aluminum dash on the 2015 Ford Mustang can be all kinds of neat right up until the sun hits it just the right way and sends shards of blinding light through the cabin. The Ford Visual Performance and Evaluation Lab is where engineers figure out how to make sure that doesn't happen.
Cars like said Mustang are parked inside the 30-foot reflecting dome under 6,000 watts of lights that can mimic the sun at any time of day and in any weather condition. Engineers can then spend cold, overcast days inside, testing for interior legibility, glare and reflections on every interior and exterior surface as if it were bright and sunny. They can also learn how a car's sheetmetal and colors will look out of doors, all year round.
Ford showed off the lighting lab without the music and interviews three years ago when the Explorer was being prepared. You can watch it at work again in the video below, and read about it in the press release below that.
