1962 Ford Falcon Futura - 2 door sedan - One Owner car - Purchased in Minnesota lived there for 6 months and moved to Augusta until now.  The car has been garage kept and is in excellent condition for it's age.  I have most of the service records for the car.

The car is equipped with a 200 c.i. straight six with a 3 speed on the column.  The motor was rebuilt several years ago and has low mileage.  New radiator and fuel pump.  It runs and drives excellent, shifts smooth and has a very nice ride.  Recently driven 120 plus miles on highway at 65+ mph.  The car has a lot of torque with the 3 speed and 200 motor.  It has power on the highway and you don't feel like you are getting run over by the modern guys.  The car has new tires in great condition with original hubcaps.

The exterior has been painted a few times over the years.  The paint looks good but does have some imperfections.  The hood has some small cracking of the paint.  There are a few nicks off of the paint on the rockers and minor places on the body.  The car has some minor dings but no major dents.  The top of the car is very nice and everything lines up really nice for a ford.  The car has never been in an accident and has no bondo or filler in the car.  It's extremely straight (scary straight).  The car looks really good from 15 feet.  I would give the paint about a 6.6 but very good driver quality.  The bumpers are straight no bends or anything.  The chrome is in great condition small surface rusting on the top and a little fade but the shine like crazy.  All the chrome trim is great shape except a small ding in the chrome on the drivers door near the seam - looks like someone bumped it with a car door.  All badges and logos present.  The trunk is in excellent condition with original style liner - spare cover and tool bag.  Surface rust in the truck but nothing major - easily treated and stopped.  The only rust I could find in the car is directly behind the driver seat and it's a few small places that someone put a small patch over inside the car (simple fix)

The interior has been redone some time ago but it's tasteful.  The dash and doors were painted back to factory color and are in excellent condition.  The seats, door panels, headliner and carpet were replaced.  They are in excellent condition and the interior shows really well.  If you want to take it back to factory this is the perfect car - all of the seat covers and door panels are available.  The headliner is all there has some stains but is in overall great driver condition.  Original visors in great shape.  The drivers window needs a little help going up and down but all windows do roll up and down.  The car does need new vent window seals, window scrappers and rear window seal.  The vent windows bring in a good amount of air through old seal.  The rear window is not leaking I just noticed that it probably could use a seal sooner or later.  The car has a aftermarket tape deck and two speakers in the back - nothing special but it's tunes.  Instrument cluster in good shape a few small imperfections.  Speedo works and gas gauge.  Temp sensor gauge does not - work on that.  The heat works it's just not that strong - i think on of the vents in the heater box is stuck close - working on that.  All lights and turn signals works.  The reverse lights have been unhooked.  The steering wheel is in fair condition and the horn works but the contact ring is messed up - needs to be worked on a little.  The emergency brake works but needs a little adjusting.

The car runs and drives excellent has good brakes.  It's registered, tagged, insured and daily driven.  Floats down the road while snapping necks.

Overall this is an amazing example of a 1962 Ford Falcon Futura. This car could be taken in some many directions.  Drive it like it is or paint it and put the factory interior back.  It's really a straight and amazing driving car.  It has just two minor rust places.

The car is being sold AS-IS with a Bill of Sale as required by the state of Georgia.  I do not have a Title to this car.

The buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping and the arrangement of either option.

A deposit is required and the remaining balance should be paid within 72 hours of auction closing.  The remaining balance is to be paid in cash preferably.  I will not accept the remaining balance via paypal.  Arrangements to pick up the car must be made in a timely manner (within 72 hours of auction close).  I will do my best to make the transaction as simple as possible.

Please email with any questions or leave a phone number if you would like to discuss the car.

Please only bid on this car if you intent on purchasing the car.  And lowball bidders have been set up to be declined automatically.  Thanks in advanced.

Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost sales robust in early going

Tue, 13 May 2014

Okay, okay, okay, so I was just a smidge wrong. Those that read my review of the Ford Fiesta with the new 1.0-liter, EcoBoost engine will know that while I really enjoyed the torquey little three-cylinder, I was concerned that Ford's decision to force 1.0-liter owners into a manual transmission, steel wheels and one trim level might hurt sales of the new engine. I was also concerned that the promised 45-mile-per-gallon highway rating wouldn't be enough to tempt buyers into trying an engine that's so far outside of what the general public is use to. My concerns, though, seem to have been for naught.
While not doing a booming business on the triple-equipped Fiesta, Ford is seeing a take rate of four to eight percent per month in the engine's first few months on sale. Now, four to eight percent might not sound like a lot - if, like last year, the Fiesta sells around 71,000 units, there'd be barely 5,600 1.0-liter models on the road. It is also small potatoes relative to the take rate on EcoBoost-equipped vehicles across the Ford range, which US sales analyst Erich Merkle estimates to be roughly 35 to 40 percent of retail sales. Still, according to The Detroit News, the 1.0-liter is getting adopted at roughly the same rate as the sparkling Fiesta ST, which should be a solid indication of just how well this little engine is doing.
The 1.0-liter's success "really speaks volumes, not just to what we're doing with the Fiesta, but with EcoBoost in general," Merkle told Autoblog.

How the 2015 Ford Mustang will save your knees

Sat, 21 Jun 2014

The 2015 Mustang is one of the most hotly anticipated vehicles of the moment, and Ford continues to leak out interesting little details about its newest pony car. The latest info doesn't have anything to do with its quarter-mile time or handling, but if any of that goes drastically wrong, the innovative new glovebox-mounted airbag may prevent passengers from knee injuries.
All variants of the 2015 Mustang get the active knee airbag as standard, and it's the first vehicle in Ford's lineup to receive the system. The setup is actually quite simple and ingenious. The glovebox is made from a plastic outer panel that is attached to the inner door. Sandwiched between them is this new injection-molded plastic bladder that folds flat when in use. If the passenger-side airbag deploys, the system springs into action to act as a cushion for your knees. Compared to a traditional knee airbag that has to fully inflate, this arrangement is 65 percent lighter and can use a 75 percent smaller inflator. It's also basically invisible when you look at the glovebox door.
Ford spokesperson Ed Saenz declined to tell Autoblog whether the system will appear in other vehicles in the Blue Oval's lineup but said, "We're considering other applications." Provided it's effective, the approach seems too simple not to make its way to other products. Scroll down to watch a video showing how the glovebox-mounted knee airbag works.

2020 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator reportedly facing numerous QC issues

Mon, Sep 16 2019

A lengthy report in the Detroit Free Press delves into a range of quality control issues confronting the 2020 Ford Explorer and its luxury platform sibling, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator. Freep says it's been following the issue for two months, tapping various unnamed sources for information on the automaker's unorthodox route to resolution. Seems the problem is Explorers and Aviators leaving the production line at the Chicago Assembly Plant with flaws in areas like the chassis, transmission and suspension, said vehicles trucked to Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant (FRAP) outside of Detroit for repair. The estimates range from 10,000 to 18,000 vehicles affected, numbers so high that Ford has sought help from Roush Engineering in nearby Allen Park, and brought workers and managers from other plants in the Midwest to FRAP to get vehicles repaired and shipped to dealers. Ford hasn't shared the nature of the problems with anyone outside the company, including dealers and customers. Freep's sources are said to include workers who have provided photos of certain vehicles and of tents used to house parts at the FRAP repair site. The Explorer chassis allegedly has an unidentified problem that engineers are using X-rays to diagnose, and the transmission is having problems sensing when it's in park or going into park. Both the Explorer and Aviator have come off the line with HVAC units that only blow hot air. And the Aviator's height-adjustable suspension enters failure mode for unknown reasons. These come on top of quotidian mishaps common to every new vehicle, but that are meant to be sorted in pre-production, like missing emblems and trim pieces. They also come on top of a recall in early August issued for the Explorer and Aviator concerning the instrument cluster and parking brake, and another at the end of August over rear seatbacks that could collapse in a crash. An automaker spokesperson told Freep, "Making updates to preproduction models based on all-new platforms as they roll off the assembly line – is standard industry practice." Except these aren't pre-production, these are early production vehicles that paying customers and dealers are waiting for, and some of the affected vehicles have been pulled off dealer lots. Dealers say they are fine waiting for the trucks to get sorted out, and they'd rather have Ford fix the problems before the SUVs go to customers.
