1979 FORD FAIRMONT FUTURA.. DURANGO CLONE, GREAT COND, ALWAYS GARAGED, NOT A DROP OF RUST, UNDERNEATH THIS CAR LOOKS PERFECT! CLEAN IN AND OUT. THE INTERIOR IS IN MINT CONDITION FOR A 30YR+ CAR. NO NEED TO LATHER IT IN ARMORALL, IT LOOKS LIKE NEW... BOTH UPHOLSTERY AND HARD PARTS HAVE BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF, CARPET IS ALSO IN GREAT SHAPE, NO SIGNS OF WEAR, BUT MINOR FADING IN SOME SUN EXPOSED AREAS. I FOUND A TILT WHEEL FOR IT BUT DIDNT GET THE TOP COLOUM TRIM PIECE, SO, THE ORGIONAL 1 DOES NOT FIT WELL, BUT WITH SOME LOOKING, I'M SURE YOU CAN LOCATE IT. YES, THAT IS A LIVING,.. BREATHING... 8 TRACK PLAYER, NOT ORG TO THE CAR, LOL, I TOOK IT OUTTA MY MOMS MAVERICK 30 YRS AGO, BEEN HOLDING ON TO IT AND FINALLY FOUND A USE FOR IT. WORKS PERFECT
THIS WAS A CUSTOM BUILT DURANGO CLONE, BUILT SOME YRS AGO. BODY IS STRAIGHT, NOT A BONDO BUCKET AT ALL, PROFESSONALLY DONE AND DONE RIGHT, THE BED INTERIOR IS CARPETED VERY NICE,.. AGAIN ALL CARPET EDGES ARE SEWED, CUSTOM MADE, NOT JUST A HACK JOB. REAR HATCH IS ELECTRIC LOCK, WORKS ON A SWITCH LOCATED ON THE DRIVER "B" PILLAR AND AS A SAFTY FEATURE, ONLY WORKS WHEN THE DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN. THE HATCH IS A METAL FRAME WITH YOUR STANDARD LIFT GATE OPENERS, AND MARINE GRADE PLYWOOD COVERED IN WHITE VINYAL, WORKS EXCELENT. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT WAS BUILT IN CALIFORNIA, CALI CAR ORG. I GET LOTS OF COMPLEMENTS ON THE WORKMANSHIP, A TRULY QUALITY JOB. WISH I COULD TAKE CREDIT FOR IT BUT HAVE TO BE HONEST HERE... OVERALL THE EXTERIOR BODY IS IN GREAT CONDITION, THIS PAINTJOB MUST HAVE COST BIG BUCKS WHEN ORG DONE, BUT IS SHOWING SOME CHIPS AND SCRATCHES, SHINES UP NICE, IN MY PICS, I HAVENT WAXED IT SINCE I GOT IT LAST FALL, SO, YOU CAN SEE THAT IT LOOKS GREAT, SHINES NICE!!!
ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS AND HORN WORK PROPERLY. ALL ORG. EXTERIOR CHROME IS IN MINT COND AS THIS CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED MOST OR ALL OF ITS LIFE. THE BUMPERS HAVE BEEN PAINTED AND AS YOU WOULD EXPECT, HAS ROCK CHIPS IN THEM. THE TIRES ARE NEAR NEW, 80%TREAD, RIMS HAVE NO RUST, SHINE UP BEAUTIFUL!
THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS CLEAN, NO LEAKS, GREAT ORIG. COND, THE COMPARTMENT HAS BEEN PAINTED SILVER WHEN THE PAINT WAS DONE, LOOKS GREAT, EVEN HAS A CUSTOM VINYAL SOUND DEADNER ON THE INSIDE OF THE HOOD,...ITS A NICE TOUCH. JUST DID A NEW WATER PUMP, AND FRESH TUNE, PASSES COLORADOS NEW STRICT EMMISION STANDARD WITH FLYING COLORS!! NEEDS A AC COMPRESSOR, , HAS NEW BELTS AND HOSES. WITH 83K ON THE ODOMETER, RUNS LIKE NEW. NEW BRAKES AS WELL.NEW BELTS AND STARTER TOO. ALL EMMISION STUFF IS IN PLACE AND WORKING PROPERLY. THE TITLE READS 0 MILES/ BEYOND LIMIT, BUT HAVING OWNED THIS CAR, I BELIEVE ITS ORG MILES, JUST LOOKING AT THIS VEHICLE, YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN.
THE VEHICLE HAS A REBUILT TITLE, MY UNDERSTANDING WAS THAT WHEN BUILT IN CALIFORNIA, WAS REQUIRED WHEN DOING A CUSTOM JOB LIKE THIS, I COULD BE WRONG. A HAD THE CAR INSPECTED AT A BODY SHOP OF A FRIEND OF MINE BEFORE I PURCHASED IT AND AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF INSPECTING IT ON A LIFT, WE COULDNT FIND ANY AREAS WHERE THE CAR WAS IN ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT OR FRAME DAMAGE, AGAIN, THE BOTTOM OF THIS CAR IS IN PERFACT CONDITION, YOUR WELCOME TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT YOURSELF OR MAKE A LOCAL APPOINTMENT WITH A SHOP OF YOUR CHOOSING, I WILL BEING IT THERE. IT SUCKS, BUT CAR RUNS AND DRIVES PERFECT. AT 65 DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I FINGER ON THE STEERING WHEEL
I SOLD MY JEEP ROCKCRAWLER A FEW YRS AGO, THOUGHT I LOST INTEREST IN THE SPORT, I BOUGHT THIS AS A REPLACEMENT TOY. I WANT A JEEP AGAIN AND ONLY HAVE ROOM IN MY GARAGE FOR 1 TOY. I HATE TO SELL HER, HAD ENJOYED OWNING THIS CUSTOM, DIFFERENT FROM THE NORM RIDE, BUT, GOT THE JEEP THING GOING AGAIN AND NEED THE MONEY FOR MY NEW PROJECT. FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME, I CAN SEND YA PICS OR ANSWER AND QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. WE CAN EXCHANGE PHONE #'S AND EITHER TALK OR TEXT. I CAN ACCEPT MAJOR CREDITCARDS VIA SQUARE. Ford's Farley apologizes for saying Blue Oval tracks customers with GPS
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Ford marketing head honcho Jim Farley made waves at CES this week by telling show attendees, "We know everyone who breaks the law, we know when you're doing it." according to a report by Business Insider. Farley continued by saying, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone."
Farley has since amended his statement, saying that Ford dose not, in fact, track its customers in their cars "without their approval or consent."
Apparently carried away with a hypothetical notion, Farley was attempting to describe how Ford might be able to employee aggregated user data for things like accurate traffic reporting and pattern spotting. A Ford spokesperson confirmed with Business Insider that its GPS units are not sharing the whereabouts of drivers, though there are a few on-board services that might do so. After opting in to the services (and presumably being made aware of any/all tracking and data collection), Ford's Sync Services Directions and Crew Chief software do, in fact, allow data collection as a means of improving both systems. Farley added that the opt-in data is not shared, even when being tracked.
Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]
Wed, Jan 14 2015Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show
Everything new at the 2019 New York International Auto Show
Wed, Apr 24 2019Transcript: Welcome to the 2019 New York Auto Show. It's the last auto show, and so far it's my favorite of the year. We have a new buggy, compact pickup and trail ready SUV from Volkswagen. Ford brought the new Escape and a new Mustang performance variant, and we have a brand new Toyota Highlander and Subaru Outback. Let's go take a look around. We're here at the New York Auto Show with the Subaru stand. Normally the Subaru stand is just some white carpet and some show lighting. This year it's like we're in a national park. It's ... Frankly, I'm from Oregon. You're from Colorado. Yeah. It's making us feel at home. And in that way what better place and what better people to introduce this Subaru Outback which is pretty much the official car of Colorado and Oregon. Yeah. You actually have to buy a Subaru before they let you move to Colorado. Now instead of climbing up there and taking a look because we've been told we can't do that we're gonna go over there and check out another one. So the exterior, not that different. No. Looks exactly like an Outback. There's actually oddly a little more black plastic trim on the outside. A little too much for me. Right. It's interesting because it kind of slowly went away from that from the beginning because in the beginning the black plastic trim kind of made it an Outback, and now they're kind of bringing it back. I guess they needed to make it more macho. Right. Right. Now we're inside. Inside it looks pretty different. Swank. It's kind of swank for an Outback which has been pretty plain. Now this is the newly available vertically gigantic touch screen here. 11.6 inches. That is massive. This is how big it is when it's turned on ... just for the viewers. Now this is the onyx trim. So with that you get the black mirrors, the black wheels. This upholstery is special to the onyx, so it's gray and black and you also have this green stitching. Yeah, I like this accent stitching. It's kind of neat. Oh there's also a little tray there. Well this is a deep bin here. You can probably fit a phone. There we go. Almost. Yeah there are two USB ports. There's an additional two in the backseat. So this thing here you pop in the cup holder and it gives you a little more space or less space. These are really big, so if you have one of those Nalgene bottles I'm guessing it's going to fit in there. One of my complaints about my Subaru that I own now which is a naturally aspirated Crosstrek is that up in the mountains. It's slow?
