A close friend asked me to buy this Fairlane from a family at his Church who had recently fallen on hard times and could no longer afford the high cost of storage fees.  At first, I was reluctant - but soon discovered that this was a very special special and very clean V-8 Fairlane.  After a nice bath, and all new fluids - the rebuilt 260 V-8 fired up and ran excellent.

Since my friend also owns a local body shop - he fixed a minor dent that was in the driver's fender - and almost perfectly matched the paint color.

This little car would be perfect for a small family - or for someone just wanting to cruise in a cool nostalgic ride with dependability and simplicity at over 20 miles per gallon with power brakes and power steering.  This car drives excellent and has the same small V-8 which first available in the 64 1/2 mustangs (the 260) with the simple 2 speed automatic transmission.  All the sheet metal is perfect, the trunk and under-floors are awesome, and there are no flaws in the glass.  Just a dented piece of chrome for the driver's fender (which is now setting in the back seat).

A true California Time Capsule, this car is rust free.  I would keep this car (but already have a matching Galaxie with 427 side oiler), so I would recommend the buyer install a driver's door arm rest, and eventually have the upholstery repaired on both seats.  That's it, this car is other-wise ready for cruise-night!

I am happy to arrange transport at buyers expense - or can personally deliver up to 100 miles from Vacaville, Ca (95688).

Please check my feedback and bid with confidence:

I'm happy to answer any questions via email, text, or phone.

Ford Escort is ready to focus on the Chinese market

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Ford officially revived the Escort name in China, showing of the new, four-door compact at the Beijing Motor Show. Painted in a stylish brown-bronze, the new sedan wears a number of global Ford styling cues while sharing its platform with the Ford Focus.
Power for the new model comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder, although Ford doesn't specify just how much power is on offer, simply saying that the fuel economy of the new mill will be "outstanding." It's unclear what transmission will be distributing the engine's power, although based on the images we've seen, the Escort will definitely offer a two-pedal setup.
The layout of the cabin is fairly clean, although as we mentioned in our initial post on the new Escort, it's a decidedly sparser environment than we've grown use to in US-spec Fords of late. If anything, it's like a weird blend of current Ford switchgear with an overall look that reminds us of older Ford layouts. Still, it looks like a comfortable way of moving five people about without too much fuss. There's ample space both front and rear, and a rather spacious trunk.

Toyota hangs on to title of world's largest automaker for first half of 2013

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

General Motors and Ford can have all the success they please, but it doesn't seem like America's two largest manufacturers are going to topple Toyota in the first half of 2013. According to Reuters, Toyota moved 4.91 million vehicles in the first six months of 2013, representing a 1.1-percent drop from the same period in 2012.
GM is on the rise, though, with a four-percent increase in global sales, to 4.85 million. Volkswagen, still sitting in third, saw a 5.5-percent jump to 4.7 million vehicles in the first half of 2013.
If this pace continues for Toyota, it'll finish 2013 in the top sales spot for the second year in a row. The manufacturer fell to third, behind GM and VW, in 2011 after earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged its production capacity.

Ford idling Michigan Assembly Plant to trim Focus, C-Max supply

Tue, 22 Oct 2013

Ford will be putting the brakes on production at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI, idling production during the weeks of October 28 and December 16. Ford is citing the first drop in US sales in 27 months, a 4.2-percent dip in September, as the impetus for trimming their supplies, according to Automotive News.
Ford's deft management of its supplies has been part of its success over the years, and seeing supplies of Focus and C-Max, the two vehicles built at MAP, rise from 58 and 108 days, respectively, to 71 and 122 days over the span of a month was apparently all that was need to justify the trimming. As AN points out, the rule of thumb for many automakers is to maintain a 60-day supply of vehicles.
"Ford has been focused on keeping their pricing in check. Their operating margin is in double digits. Nobody else is there and they're obviously very proud of that," Alan Baum, an auto analyst with Baum & Associates told AN. Keeping the supply chain operating smoothly and not increasing supplies too much is crucial to that healthy profit margin. After all, a large supply lowers prices ,which, in turn, cuts profit. So while this news might not be great for employees at MAP, who now have an extra two weeks of vacation time, it's far from a sign of problems in Dearborn. Quite the opposite, actually.
