UP FOR AUCTION, VERY RARE 1970 FORD FAIRLANE 500 WITH 429 SCJ, DRAG PACK FROM CARL BEASLEY FOR OF YORK, PENNSYLVANIA. THIS CAR HAD DEALER INSTALLED "STAGE II" KIT WHICH INCLUDED: 4.71 GEARS, TORQUE CONVERTER, CUSTOM VALVE BODY, HURST SHIFTER, SPECIAL PAINT, CRAGAR MAG WHEELS, HEADERS, GAUGE PACK, WIRE PACK, COOL CAN AND "BLUE PRINTED HEADS". ALL SAID AND DONE, THIS CAR HAD A STICKER PRICE OF $5,874.75 WHEN IT LEFT THE LOT AND SHOULD HAVE RUN THE 1/4 MILE AT ABOUT 11.90 SECONDS AND 120MPH! THIS CAR SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FORD'S VERSION OF A NICKEY, YENKO, HARRELL, OR BALDWIN-MOTION.
ACCORDING TO THE WINDOW STICKER AND MARTI REPORT THIS CAR LEFT LORAIN ASSEMBLY PLANT ON FEBRUARY 23, 1970 WITH:
429 COBRA JET / RAM AIR, CRUISE-O-MATIC, DRAG PACK, DETROIT LOCKER
BODY TUB IS INTACT, STRUCTURALLY SOUND, RESTORABLE AND IS THE ORIGINAL BODY. THE RIGHT TORQUE BOX HAS A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM BUT SHOULD BE AN EASY FIX. THE TRANNY HUMP HAS A BIG HOLE CUT IT IN IT BUT I AM INCLUDING A NICE FLOOR PAN PIECE TO PATCH IT. ALSO LEFT REAR FLOOR PAN HAS A PIECE OF METAL PARTIALLY WELDED IN. HAVE DONOR USED FLOOR PAN FOR THIS PIECE. THERE IS A PATCH ON LEFT REAR FLOOR IN FRONT OF REAR WHEEL TUB BY SPRING PERCH (SEE PHOTO). ROOF AND QUARTERS ARE STRIPPED, STILL BARE METAL WITH SOME LIGHT SURFACE RUST. FRONT STRUCTURE IS SOLID WITH TYPICAL RUST UNDER BATTERY TRAY. RIGHT WHEEL WELL IS MOSTLY METAL, LOWER 8" IN FRONT OF TIRE HAS BLISTERS (MIGHT BE FILLER). INNER AND OUTER WHEEL TUB IS SOLID AND BEHIND TIRE HAS RUST, ALSO LOWER INNER QUARTER HAS RUST (SEE PHOTO). LEFT SIDE REAR QUARTER HAS SKIM COAT OF BODY FILLER. IT APPEARS TO HAVE LOTS OF METAL IN WHEEL WELLS. OUTER WHEEL TUB HAS SOME PATCHES. SEE TRUNK PHOTOS. HOOD IS CLEAN AND IS NOT BOWED. CLEAN TRUNK LID. PASSENGER DOOR CLEAN AND STRAIGHT. DRIVER'S DOOR HAS SOME RUST BUBBLES AND KINK ON FRONT BOTTOM (SEE PHOTO). THE UNDERSIDE LOOKS WORSE IN THE PHOTOS THAN IT ACTUALLY IS. THERE IS SCALY SURFACE RUST THAT LOOKS LIKE IT SHOULD SANDBLAST OFF. THE FRAME RAILS ARE REALLY SOLID.
NOTE: FENDERS AND HOOD LOOSELY ATTACHED WITH 2 BOLTS ON TOP OF EACH FENDER, DOORS ARE BEING HELD ON BY LATCH AND 1 TO 2 BOLTS.
ENGINE IS DISASSEMBLED AND NOT ORIGINAL, BUT IT IS A 429 SCJ. CODE ON BLOCK IS: DOVE-A. FOUR BOLT MAINS. HEADS ARE: DOOE-R. INTAKE: DOOE-9425-C. CARB NUMBERS ARE: DIFF-9510-TA LIST-6361. HAS RIGHT CONNECTING RODS AND STILL HAS COBRA JET PISTONS STAMPED 429CJ. THERE ARE TWO C-6 TRANSMISSIONS. STILL HAS 9" REAR END WITH "N" CASE CENTER SECTION. APPEARS TO STILL HAVE THE 4.71 GEARS IN IT AND THE LOCKER.
INTERIOR IS VERY USABLE. IT NEED A GOOD CLEANING. SEATS ARE NOT RIPPED UP, DOOR PANELS ARE NICE AND HEADLINER IS NICE. DASH PAD HAS A TACH CUT INTO IT. THE LOWER METAL DASH HAS FOUR GUAGES IN IT.
ACCORDING TO MARTI REPORT: THERE WERE ONLY 8 MADE WITH THESE ENGINE / TRANSMISSION CODES AND ONLY 5 WITH DETROIT LOCKER
THIS CAR DESERVES A PROPER RESTORATION. IT WOULD TRULY BE A VERY DESIREABLE AND VALUABLE CAR WHEN DONE. PLUS, YOU WOULD NEVER SEE ANOTHER LIKE IT AT A CAR SHOW TO TAKE IT TO!
NOTE: THERE ARE MANY PARTS AND THE CAR IS FAIRLY DISASSEMBLED. THE DRIVELINE PARTS AND EXTRA PIECES WILL PROBABLY FILL AN 8' PICKUP BOX. AS MENTIONED IN BODY OF AD, FENDERS AND HOOD ARE LOOSE AND WOULD NEED TO BE STRAPPED ON FOR TRANSPORT.
THIS CAR IF FOR SALE LOCALLY AND I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY IF IT SELLS.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL WITH QUESTIONS. I HAVE MORE PICTURES THAN I COULD INCLUDE WITH THIS LISTING. ALSO HAVE A COPY OF THE MARTI REPORT AND PAPERWORK FOR THE STAGE II KIT PREP WORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis LS
Sat, Jan 21 2023Ford's now-defunct Mercury Division first began using the Marquis name in 1967, on a sporty full-size hardtop based on the Ford LTD, then began offering the Grand Marquis beginning in the 1979 model year. These big, boxy luxury sedans were replaced by big, curvy luxury sedans (on the same platform) starting with the 1992 model year, so today's Junkyard Gem is one of the very last squared-off Grand Marquises ever built. The 1991 Grand Marquis (or "Grandma Keith," as many refer to it today) looks nearly identical to its 1979 predecessor at a glance, just as the 2011 model doesn't differ much from the 1992 model. Ford saw no reason to follow short-lived fashion trends with its simple, sturdy rear-wheel-drive sedan. Only two Grand Marquis trim levels were available for 1991: the base GS and the (somewhat) upscale LS. The former listed at $18,741 and the latter at $19,241, which comes to about $41,494 and $42,601, respectively, in inflated 2022 dollars). This interior would have seemed comfortingly familiar to a 1968 (or even 1958) Mercury owner time-traveling to 1991. This is the optional "full grain leather seating surface," which cost an extra $489 (about $1,083 today). Dig those opera lights! Air conditioning was standard equipment in the 1991 Grand Marquis and its wagon counterpart, the Colony Park. The engine is the good old pushrod 5.0-liter Windsor V8, which would be replaced by a far more modern 4.6-liter SOHC mill in the '92 Grand Marquis. This engine was rated at 180 horsepower. A four-speed automatic was the only transmission available. The early 1990s ended up being the last gasp for padded vinyl roofs being considered mainstream equipment on new Detroit cars; this one was called the "Formal Coach" roof and cost an additional 725 bucks ($1,605 now). Such roofs were still available on a few cars later in the decade, but their time had passed. Why would such a clean Grandma Keith end up in a place like this? That's easy: it got T-boned directly into the right front wheel, mangling the body and bending up the suspension. This damage might have been worth fixing when the car was five years old, but it's a write-off when it happens to a 31-year-old Ford Panther. 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis Commercial - Savings Ad The granddaddy of them all, and on sale in South Texas! Ford Fiesta ST gets worked out on the track
Sun, 10 Mar 2013We're big fans of the turbocharged Ford Focus ST, and we're plenty excited that the Blue Oval will be offering a similar treatment on the smaller Fiesta here in the United States, too. We first saw the production-ready Fiesta ST five-door at the Los Angeles Auto Show last fall, and Ford has now released this video of a Euro-spec three-door ST being flung around the track.
But not just any track - the challenging Track 7 of Ford's Lommel Proving Grounds in Belgium. The course features 20 turns and plenty of elevation changes along its 2.7-mile loop, and David Put, a vehicle dynamic specialist at Ford, shows just how good the pint-sized Fiesta ST is at handling the lot, even getting the smallest ST up on three wheels every now and then.
It sure does look like a lot of fun, and makes us really eager for our chance to try this ourselves. Scroll down to see the hot little Ford getting busy.
More evidence GT500-replacement will be named GT350
Tue, 17 Dec 2013During the recent unveiling of the 2015 Ford Mustang, we saw the car in both V6 and GT form, but we'll have to wait a little bit longer to see the successor to the Shelby GT500. In the meantime, though, it looks like SVTPerformance.com has confirmed reports that this high-performance model will bring the Shelby GT350 name back to Ford.
According to the forum post, a user found the Shelby GT350 name on a Ford promo website listing its 2015 lineup. The Shelby GT350 name was first used on a Mustang back in 1965, and most recently it has been a model created for customers as a post-title purchase by Shelby American. As for that car, Shelby confirmed earlier in the year that its GT350 would be phased out at the end of this month.
The million-dollar question for Mustang and Shelby enthusiasts is when we'll see next factory Shelby GT350. Last we heard it was planned for a debut at the New York Auto Show. We've included our previous spy shots of this hi-po, sixth-gen Mustang, and we've also captured it on spy video showing off its exhaust note.
