1968 Ford Fairlane Base 4.7l 2 Door Coupe on 2040-cars
Southington, Connecticut, United States
Selling my 1968 Ford Fairlane. The vehicle was always stored inside, but at one time it was stored with the trunk exposed(Paint fading in trunk lid and trunk drops and lower quarter panels have rust). The Fairlane is all original other than the Driver's side front fender, which was replaced by a rust free original Fairlane fender. The car currently has a 1991 351w from an f-150. The engine has a 4 barrel Elderbock intake but it's set up with a block plate to run a 2 barrel carb, it has a new timing chain, water pump,, thermostat and hoses. I have the original engine to the car, but it's disassembled. The original C-4 transmission works fine and the original 8 inch rear end also. The car has working drum brakes(Non powered). The interior is in mint shape, original dash and seat covers without wear and tears. Rear deck cover is also in one section and no speaker cut offs. All original glass in great working condition. Doors are rust free as the hood, trunk, fenders. The vinyl top is nearly perfect. The underneath of the car is rust free other than a small 2 inch area in the rear drivers seat corner. Front and rear frame rails look amazing as the radiator support and front frame rails. Torque boxes are solid. Car has power steering and tires are ok. The front suspension is also solid. The trunk has the original tank and the original jack. Trim is in descent condition but I am missing the driver's side fender nose trim. I have one original CT title dated 1978 and numerous receipts. I have a fair reserve and selling the car locally so I have the option to end the auction early. The pictures speak for themselves and have many more available if need be. Email me with your cell or e-mail if you want to see something specific. Good luck and thank you for bidding. Ruben.

Ford Mustang EcoBoost has fake engine soundtrack
Wed, 24 Sep 2014The 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost represents a huge change for the Blue Oval as the first pony car in decades to be available with a four-cylinder engine. But a recent tweet (below) from Road & Track raised our curiosity about the new vehicle. Editor Jason Cammisa pulled a fuse while driving the latest 'Stang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, and he found that both the stereo and engine went quiet in the cabin. That indicated the coupe might have some form of artificial engine sound being piped in - a feature not previously heavily reported for the model. Autoblog spoke with Ford engineer Shawn Carney who confirmed that only the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang comes with this system, called Active Noise Control.

J Mays' legacy
Fri, 15 Nov 2013
Mays is by far not the first designer to use heritage design cues in his work.
The announcement that J Mays will be leaving his chief creative officer role at Ford Motor Company on January 1 ends a 13-year run in one of the industry's top design roles. While best known for having a hand in reborn classics like the Volkswagen New Beetle, Ford Mustang and Thunderbird (above), Mays' legacy is more complicated and nuanced than being considered the father of what is known as "retrofuturism".
Former Ford CEO Mulally won't run for president
Mon, 15 Sep 2014Alan Mulally will not be following his successful term as president and CEO of Ford Motor Company with a run at an even bigger presidency. Rumors that the 68-year-old former Boeing exec would make a run at the White House sprouted after his apparent dodging of a reporter's questions about a potential candidacy during a forum in Indianapolis.
"I really think it's important that we all pull together. We really need to pull together around a compelling vision for our country and a comprehensive strategy to do it and work together. We really need to do it," Mulally said at the conference, according to The Detroit News.
He's since clarified by saying, "[I'm] honored at the suggestion, but that is not a role I am considering."
