1966 Ford Fairlane 500 2 Door Coupe on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:5388
Location:

Branson, Missouri, United States

Branson, Missouri, United States

Offered for sale is a fine example of the 1966 Ford Fairlane 500. A growingly popular mid size muscle car among the Ford contingent, the sleek swept lines of the Fairlane have been sought after for many years and the added benefit of more passenger space, a larger trunk and better handling than the Pony car Mustang brethren make it a smart choice for today's buyer.

This particular example has been well restored, cared for and presents itself extremely well. Upgraded Power Front disc brakes, Power Steering, a mildly performance built 289cu in V8 with 4 bbl carburetor, performance camshaft, block hugger headers and a Flowmaster equipped dual exhaust REALLY wake this car up and give it the performance to match it's good looks. Very glossy Wimbledon White paint and complimenting Night Mist Blue stripes are sealed in a Base Coat/Clear Coat modern paint that will stay glossy looking and low maintenance for years to come. Riding on 15" Retro American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with the polished outer rim and Nexen 205/55R/15 performance radials make this car a dream to drive on either the straight stretches or the curvy backroads. The completely rebuilt front suspension, coupled with boxed subframe connectors tie the car together for just such an instance.

The sheetmetal appears to be all original and is rust free. The paint has been professionally applied. Interior has been upgraded in material and features a nice stripe matching medium blue cloth throughout and 5 seatbelt locations provide the needed safety factor to bring friends and family along for the ride.

Underneath of the car is solid, original but well detailed and the factory torque boxes are in factory condition.

The professionally built C4 automatic transmission features 3 speeds and shifts crisply and cleanly every time.

As a matter of condition, this car still retains its original Owners Manual and Original Ownership information and was sold new in Republic, MO on 4/28/1966. Seems to not have traveled far outside its home in over 40 years. (See pics for details)

As mentioned, the Ford Fairlane is growing in popularity as all of the Mustangs get sucked up and the prices go through the roof.  This is a lot of car....for not a lot of money....you should buy it!

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Capri

Mon, Sep 19 2016

Ford has gotten a lot of use out of the Capri name in the United States. First, there was the Lincoln Capri in the 1950s, followed by the Ford Capri Mk1 (which was sold by Mercury dealers in the USA but never actually badged as a Mercury). Then came the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri, built on the very successful Fox Platform and essentially a clone of the Mustang. Finally, in 1991, the Australian Ford Capri came to the United States. Here is an example of this rare car that I spotted in a Northern California self-service yard not long ago. Mechanically speaking, the 1991-1994 Capri was a Mazda 323 under the skin, complete with a member of the same B-series engine family that went into such cars as the Miata and Ford Escort. So, for a few years in the early 1990s, car shoppers who wanted a sporty Mazda convertible could choose between a Miata and a Capri. The Capri had front-wheel-drive, but could be had with factory turbocharging. These cars were reliable and fun, but had a tough time competing with the Miata in the showroom battles. You'll see the occasional example now and then, but most of the 1991-1994 Capris have met the same fate that awaits this one. Related Video:

Ford Focus EV's slow sales trigger massive incentives

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports Ford is having real trouble moving its new Focus Electric. As a result, the automaker is offering substantial incentives in an attempt to lure in more buyers. How substantial? Try $10,750 off of a three-year lease. What's more, the EV can now be had for $37,995 ($2,000 less than its original base price) on top of an additional $2,000 cash discount to buy the EV outright - or you can opt for 1.9-percent financing if you work through Ford Motor Credit. None of which factors in various potential government incentives. Last year, Ford managed to sell a paltry 685 of the 1,627 Focus EV hatchbacks it built.
Ford isn't alone in trying to woo more buyers to its EV effort. Nissan cut the price of its Leaf by a whopping 18 percent for 2013, now down to $28,800 and built in the USA. The move followed the automaker's substantial incentives in 2012.
If you want a Focus Electric, you can now apparently get your hands on one for as little as $285 per month with $930 due at signing for a 36-month lease with 10,500 miles per year.

Ford sued over alleged 3.5-liter EcoBoost defects

Thu, 16 May 2013

Three Ford owners from Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the automaker over defects that they allege exist within the company's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Automotive News reports that the lawsuit claims the engine "contained serious latent design, manufacturing, or assembly defects." Those defects, the suit claims, cause the vehicle to shake, misfire and lose power quickly.
Two of the plaintiffs, a married couple, own a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, and allege they experienced a loss of power and stalling, while the third, an F-150 owner, claims he lost power while accelerating. In addition to the Taurus SHO and F-150, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available in the Ford Flex, Explorer Sport and Lincoln MKT and MKS. Other three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines are not included in the suit. There have been no recalls associated with 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently not investigating the matter.
The plaintiffs, however, claim Ford has known about the problem, citing several technical service bulletins issued to dealers of the F-150 that suggest possible fixes. Ford had no comment for Automotive News, saying that it's yet to review the lawsuit, which was filed last Friday in Columbus, OH.
