Description

You are looking at a modified 1966 Ford Fairlane 2 door post sedan, equipped with a 390 big block, 4 speed Top Loader transmission, front disc brakes and Currie 3.70 Tractionlok rear end.  It was built well by a local owner who has decided to downsize. Below is a video collection of the automobile:

This vehicle started life as a 6 cylinder 3 speed but was built well. It was owned by the same family since new until it was sold to the current owner who built the car. We have personally driven this vehicle and it is a fun car to drive. Please scroll down and enjoy the 350+ photos. If you cannot view all the photos, please click here.

Mechanically, it runs and drives well. There is a bit of power steering pump whine as you can hear, and a few things we might finish such as the seat covers. However, the hard work is done and it runs and drives as you would expect with this 400+ HP powerhouse under the hood. It steers / turns stops better than we expected. The gauges appear to work as do the headlights and other bulbs. The car also stops and shifts well. The vehicle is surprisingly smooth and comfortable at 45-55 MPH as well. The redline tires and standard wheels with the dog dish hubcaps are a nice addition.

Cosmetically, this is one of the nicer cosmetics we have encountered but not a show car. It would win a local show, but the paint is not a $5000 job. There is some surface rust in the trunk under the mat as shown. This appears to be from moisture but it does not appear to be through from what we could tell. This should be wire brushed and sealed. We were fairly happy when looking at the floorboards, shackles and other normal trouble spots as this is a pretty clean example.  Also note that the exterior panels and color appear to be original but have been patched. There is some surface rust and filler was used on parts of the body. Please see the photos to have a better gauge of vehicle condition. It does look as good in person as it does in the photos.

The car runs and drives extremely well for the age and was a pleasure to drive for the auction videos. We were impressed with the power and looks as we drove this car. These 1960's Fords are truly an American icon.

Additional auction information:

This vehicle is sold as-is. We cannot warranty any parts and as with any vintage vehicle, they are always a project in some way. Please note this before bidding if you are looking for a vehicle that will operate like a new vehicle. Collector cars are many times tempermental and reliability can be a factor on some. We also did not test each accessory or feature, and only drove the vehicle for a short distance.

Any of these should be trailered to their destination until the vehicle is checked over for safety (tires, etc). The title is free and clear, and we are also requiring a bill of sale be signed by the new owner stating this car is being purchased as-is.

It is a very straight original car as you can see in the photos. It gets a ton of attention and would make a great addition to your Ford, Mercury or classic car collection.

Please call our store at (414) 727-0600 for additional information on this vehicle. Best of all, we are selling this beauty with NO RESERVE, but do reserve the right to end the auction early as it is for sale locally. Good luck in the auction.

Ford Police Interceptors dominate Michigan State Police testing

Tue, Nov 1 2016

Once again, Ford Motor Company builds the fastest police vehicles. The Blue Oval touted the news in an official release following Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department testing. Ford did very well. Except for one acceleration metric – zero to 10 miles per hour – the Blue Oval's Taurus and Explorer-based cop cars were the quickest, with particular praise coming for the EcoBoost-powered models, which bested Chevrolet and Dodge's V8-powered variants. Dearborn's products also posted the fastest average times around MSP's vehicle dynamics course. But it wasn't all positive for Ford. The only four-cylinder in the contest, the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost Ford SSP Sedan, had both the lowest top speed, 120 mph, and the slowest acceleration figures. It was also the slowest in track testing. Ford's products also failed to match the braking and top speeds of its rivals from Detroit and Auburn Hills – the rear-drive Charger Pursuit posted the best braking stats of the entire test, while the V8-powered Chevrolet Caprice hit the highest top speed, at 155 mph. Ford did score a top speed award, among SUVs, but at 132 mph, the naturally aspirated Police Interceptor Utility had to share its award with the equally fast, rear-drive Chevrolet Tahoe. The LA County Sheriff's timing isn't publicly available, but according to Ford, the EcoBoost-powered police cars put on a similarly impressive show for cops on the West Coast. We've assembled a spreadsheet on Google Docs that offers an easy to browse comparison of the different stats assembled by the Michigan State Police, and divided the vehicles between standard V6-powered sedans, high-performance sedans (EcoBoost and V8 models), and SUVs. You can check it out here. Related Video:

2015 Ford Mustang dealer order guide surfaces

Tue, 13 May 2014

Details about the all-new, 2015 Ford Mustang continue to leak out. In fact, at this point, it's more of a stream than a drip. Its option prices are already available, and now the full ordering guide is on the web for all of the trims thanks to the Mustang 6G forum. Ford is rapidly running out of secrets to keep about its new sports coupe.
The 21-page guide can be perused in the gallery below and contains all of the standard features, colors, options codes, descriptions. Generally everything you might want to know about the 'Stang is there, other than its price or power. It even shows off the available wheel designs.
The guide finally gives away the contents of the Performance Package for the EcoBoost and GT trims. The EcoBoost's package includes: A larger rear sway bar, new chassis tuning, larger brake rotors, 19-inch black wheels, retuned driver assistance systems, an aluminum dash panel, added gauge pack, 3.55 limited slip rear differential, larger radiator, heavy-duty front springs and spoiler delete. When the options pricing leaked, it indicated the package would cost $1,995. If that is the case, it seems like quite a deal.

Weekly Recap: Hackers demonstrate auto industry's vulnerability

Sat, Jul 25 2015

There's always been a certain risk associated with driving, and this week cyber security came into focus as the latest danger zone when researchers demonstrated how easily they could hack into a 2014 Jeep Cherokee from across the country. The incident raised concerns over the vulnerability of today's cars, many of which double as smartphones and hot spots. During the now-infamous experiment, Chris Valasek and Charlie Miller infiltrated the Jeep's cellular connection and were able to control the infotainment system, brakes, and other functions. The hackers told the Jeep's maker, FCA US, of their findings last year, the company devised a software fix. Though Valesek and Miller hacked a Cherokee (like the one shown above), several FCA products, including recent versions of the Ram, Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and Viper were also affected, illustrating potentially wide exposure that could reverberate across the sector. "For the auto industry, this is a very important event and shows that cyber-security protection is needed even sooner than previously planned," Egil Juliussen, senior analyst and research director for IHS Automotive, wrote in a research note. "Five years ago, the auto industry did not consider cyber security as a near-term problem. This view has changed." Hours after the Cherokee hacking incident was publicized on Tuesday, Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) introduced legislation to direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Trade Commission to establish national standards for automotive cyber security. The bill also would require vehicles to have a cyber-rating system to alert consumers how well their cars' privacy and security are defended. "Drivers shouldn't have to choose between being connected and being protected," Markey said in a statement. "We need clear rules of the road that protect cars from hackers and American families from data trackers." Though FCA and its Jeep Cherokee were in the spotlight this time, they were just the latest to showcase how automotive technology has advanced faster than safety and regulatory measures. IHS forecasts 82.5 million cars will be connected to the internet by 2022, which is more than three times today's level. "Cyber-security will become a major challenge for the auto industry and solutions are long overdue," Juliussen said.
