This auction is for a 1965 Ford Fairlane 500, and she runs. This is the story behind this car:

I purchased this from a man who bought it NEW in 1965 for his Mother. He states, “She drove it nowhere for 20 years, and then gave it back to me.” This gentleman is a “pick-up truck” kind of guy, so this sat in his barn for the most part. He says he drove it rarely, just to make sure it started, and he kept it up. He has an emotional attachment to it, as his mother is now gone.

The miles on this car, 19,370.8 are the only miles on it. Everything is original. The glass is original without a crack or a chip. The jack and crow bar in the trunk are original and the “how-to” diagram is still pasted to the inside of the trunk. Even the cigarette lighter is accounted for. Original keys and owner’s manual also included. The frame is straight as an arrow. The hood opens, stays open and shuts perfectly. The trunk opens, stays open, and shuts perfectly. Each door shuts and opens perfectly. You can really tell how little actual wear there is on the frame when you open and shut the doors. All the lights work, signals and brakes. You tap a button on the floorboard to switch to bright lights. Speedometer and gas gauge work.

I purchased this car almost a year ago, with ideas of grandeur of fixing it up for fun. I find though that I’m more of a “mini-van” kind of woman. I’ve done a couple of things. Oil change, air and oil filter, spark plugs and spark plug wires, and I’ve had the original carburetor refurbished by a man in NJ (He’s actually on eBay!) I find this isn’t exactly my thing, and more important details in my life that require my attention (such as four kids, two jobs, etc.) supersede the restoring of this vehicle. And I just can’t let it sit in my back yard, covered with a tarp anymore. I’ve registered it for four years, paid extra for the ‘collector’s’ plate, and it’s insured…but to what end? This is not going to happen for me in my life right now.

This baby still needs some TLC. She needs new tires for sure. The upholstery needs to be replaced. The seals around the windows need to be replaced. New seat belts need to be installed as there are only two lap seat belts in the front seat, none in the back. I’m pretty sure those aren’t to code. She needs painted. I’m not sure if the AM radio works. Do they still broadcast in AM? I can barely hear it, so I think it’s the speakers.

Here’s what I know is a flaw:

1. The horn doesn’t work.

2. There is a small dent under the front driver’s side panel. Not visible from the front. I took a detailed photo of it.

3.  The “R” in the front where is says “FORD” is missing.

The engine is small, it’s a 200 in-line six. It does not have power anything. No power steering. No power windows. Drum brakes, not powered. No A/C. ‘Three on the Tree’ manual shifting. Did I mention, she’s a runner? Once yellow with a tan interior, now she’s more of an Ivory color.

I have been on eBay for 15 years now and have impeccable feedback (this is my third job really). As you can see, I deal mostly in ladies lingerie and household collectables. I have never sold a car on eBay. Come to think about it, I’ve never sold a car. I have someone who is willing to assist me in questions you may have about this car, that I can’t answer. So feel free to ask, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. The title is clear, and I have it.

MyFord Touch getting second update, extended warranty

Wed, 28 Nov 2012

There is no doubt that Ford has had its hands full fielding complaints with its MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch systems these days, but looking to keep its customers happy, Ford is once again upgrading its infotainment systems and extending the warranties. Despite having just sent out updates for its systems back in March, Automotive News says that customers are still complaining about the speed and ease of use.
Vehicles with MyFord Touch will now get a five-year, unlimited-mile warranty, while the MyLincoln Touch will have a six-year, unlimited-mile warranty. Previously, the systems were covered under basic warranties (three-year, 36,000-mile for Ford and four-year, 60,000-miles for Lincoln).
What is being referred to as "version 3.5" for the MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch systems will be mailed out (or downloaded) next month for owners of cars without navigation and in January for cars with nav. Owners of hybrids, plug-ins and electric vehicles will get the update sometime in the first quarter of next year.

Ford's Troller introduces even more rugged T4 SUVs in Sao Paulo

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Bronco may be long gone from Ford dealerships back home, but down in Brazil its spirit lives on in the Troller brand. Founded independently in 1995, Ford do Brasil took over Troller in 2007 and has been teasing us with its rough-and-tumble SUVs ever since. So with the Sao Paulo Motor Show coming up, Troller has revealed this special version of the T4.
Looking even more rugged than the existing three-door sport-ute, this special T4 packs a snorkel, winch, upgraded bumpers and knobbier tires. We're not sure what to make of the "sophisticated" brown and tan paint job, but send it north and the Jeep Wrangler would have a new challenger on its hands... especially since the Toyota FJ Cruiser was discontinued.
Alongside the version seen here, Troller will also exhibit another T4 outfitted for rescue workers. Scope out initial details of both in the press release below, enclosed in both its original Portuguese and auto-translated into English.

eBay Find of the Day: 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra prototype

Wed, 08 May 2013

Over the last decade or so, competition in NASCAR has led to some pretty funky looking racecars. And when the sport was still up and coming, the tight competition actually led to some interesting production cars. The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird are perhaps the most well-known cars of the sport's "aero wars" era but the Ford Torino King Cobra might have been the most memorable of all, if not for some different homologation rules established in 1970. The Torino King Cobra never made it to production and never competed in NASCAR, but three examples exist including this one now for sale on eBay.
Designed as a successor for the aero-tuned Torino Talladega, the Torino King Cobra has a sleeker front end with hidden headlights and a sloped nose. As the story goes, NASCAR made a rule change in 1970 requiring 3,000 of the vehicles to be produced, which was substantially more than the 500 units required by the previous rule. One of the three prototypes ever built - and the only one built with the Boss 429 engine - is now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $500,000. With a little more than three days left on the auction there are still no bids, but in the grand scheme of things this seems like a relatively fair price for a rare piece of automobile and racing history.
