1964 Ford Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe on 2040-cars
Tacoma, Washington, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Make: Ford
Drive Type: rwd
Model: Fairlane
Mileage: 0
Trim: 500
Up for sale is my 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe.
I picked up this car a long time ago with plans to fix it up as a sleeper.
Unfortunately plans have changed and I have decided to sell it in hopes that someone out
there will have the motivation and appreciation to put this classic back together and enjoy it.
This Fairlane originally came with a 260 V8 and a 2 speed auto transmission.
It now has a early to mid 70's 302 V8 with a C4 auto.
The rear end is the stock 8 inch housing with a 3.55 locker differential. Car originally came with 3.00 open gears.
As far as history of the car goes, I only know of roughly the last 15-20 years! other then that I do not know much after that.
This car does run and drive. This car has a lot of juice when you lay into it and is pretty fast for what it is.
The engine runs fairly good, the carb could use a fine tuning.
The transmission shifts through all the gears fine but does leak fluid.
The brakes need work. Master cylinder is about toast, the car has drum brakes all around.
The mileage on the car is either 65k or 165k not sure, but assuming 165k. The drive train mileage is unknown.
In the past a Malory pointsless distributor and ignition system was installed along with a mild cam.
The Holley carb, edelbrock intake, and headers along with the rest of the exhaust was installed in the past as well.
All electrical works except the windshield wipers have stopped working.
The only things I have done to the car
Full tune up and changed all fluids (engine, trans, and rear end).
Overhauled the carburator.
Replaced the fuel pump.
Put on new rear air shocks.
Picked up a nice straight rear bumper that just needs to be rechromed.
As far as the body goes, I have not done one thing to it other than clean it up.
Things that are missing.
The door panels,
Rear hat tray.
Driver side window regulator,
Most of the lower console trim,
Trunk lock,
Unfortunately the rear window is missing.
Other than said items, it is all there.
This car is in decent shape for being 49 years old. It does have dings, rust ect.
It does have some rust in the floor boards but it is not too bad. They can be easily repaired.
Trunk pan has surface rust, no rot. Passenger fender has rust bubbling on the lower half.
Rear quarter panels do not have rot but the driver side has some slight bubbles starting.
Passenger side quarter panel has a little bit of filler like some one in the past did a repair on some dents.
Passenger fender was replaced sometime in the past, probably from past damage!
Some filler on the passenger side corner of the hood. Battery tray has rust of course.
Rest of the car looks and appears solid.
The trim and emblems are all there. Driver side fender "fairlane 500" emblem is missing a 0.
The paint is a cheap paint job done in the past (actually have the receipt)
The rims are rusty and the two front tires are shot. The rear tires are decent with a lot of tread but they are old.
This car is all around a decent car that is in need of some TLC.
Even though this car does run and drive, I am selling it as a project NOT a daily driver or pristine show car.
This car is a great starting platform for building back to original, thunderbolt clone, street rod, ect. the choice is yours.
The registration is years expired.
I DO hold a clean title in hand for this car.
This car is being sold AS-IS
I have tried to describe this car as accurately to the best of my knowledge.

2015 Ford Mustang invades SEMA, led by King Cobra
Wed, 05 Nov 2014Ford showcased more than a dozen customized 2015 Mustangs at its sprawling 20,000-square foot display this week at the Las Vegas Convention Center as the iconic pony car's 50th anniversary celebration continued at the SEMA Show.
While Mustangs are always a hot commodity at SEMA, the new generation brought increased attention from the aftermarket, as builders like Galpin Auto Sports, Richard Petty's Garage and Vaughn Gittin Jr. offered their takes on the new 'Stang.
The extensive display included a range of Mustangs from mild to wild, with everything from a 600-plus horsepower King Cobra pictured at the top, to paint-and-wheel packages. The new regal Cobra, which we spied early in our SEMA adventure this year, may not be the replacement for the Cobra Jet as we speculated, but it does seem to point the way forward for the next iteration of a supreme Ford dragster. Fat drag slicks out back make it's reason for being abundantly clear, and for tells us that modded car is good for a 10.97-second quarter-mile run.
Ford promises 12 new global performance vehicles through 2020
Thu, Dec 11 2014Ford just keeps rolling out the big announcements today. We've already told you about the next-gen Focus RS coming to the US and the upcoming Sync 3 infotainment system. And this latest one should perk up the ears of racing fans or anyone who enjoys an enthusiastic drive (basically, all Autoblog readers). The Blue Oval says it has "more than 12" new performance vehicles on the way globally through 2020. Unfortunately, the only one that the automaker confirms at the moment is the Focus RS, but recent rumors might suggest a few others. Ford reportedly has the Shelby Mustang GT350R, next-gen F-150 Raptor and a Ford GT successor all on the way, all of which could possibly debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The future GT might even take the company back to racing at Le Mans. Speaking of motorsports, Ford is also blending its performance vehicle and racing efforts worldwide into a unified entity by combining SVT, Team RS and Ford Racing into a new organization called Ford Performance. It's responsible not just for excelling on the track but also for developing aero improvements, electronics, powertrain and lightweight tech for the Blue Oval's vehicles. "Our new global Ford Performance team ties together racing, performance vehicles and parts. It will allow us to more quickly introduce products and accessories that meet the needs of customers around the world on-road and on the track," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development, in the company's press release. The automaker thinks this market might be booming, especially among younger buyers. For example, recent data shows Millennials buy ST models at twice the rate of the rest of Ford's cars. Scroll down to read the Blue Oval's full announcement of the new division and the plan to get excited about things to come. FORD DRIVING PERFORMANCE INNOVATION TO NEW LEVELS; MORE THAN 12 VEHICLES COMING FROM NEW GLOBAL TEAM Ford bringing more global performance vehicles to customers worldwide; more than 12 new performance vehicles through 2020 – including Focus RS – to be available globally Ford uniting regional performance engineering and racing teams as one global team under Ford Performance, delivering more new vehicles and parts, more quickly Ford will deliver more than 12 new performance vehicles for global enthusiasts through 2020, as the company announced today its new global Ford Performance team.
Watch these Australian Ford and Holden muscle cars duke it out
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Australia's Motoring has put together a little video on two of the great performance vehicles available down under - the Holden VF Commodore HSV GTS and the Ford Falcon FPV GT R-Spec. And while both FPV and the Falcon might be on their way out, there's still plenty of time for a little head-to-head comparison between the two.
The cars aren't all that well evenly matched, though. The Ford boasts a 5.0-liter, supercharged V8, which the Aussies measure out at 449 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The HSV, though, with its Corvette-derived, 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 is just too powerful - 576 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque.
Predictably, it doesn't end too well for the Ford. As the guys from Motoring point out, the new VF Commodore is just too new and too good, with its extra power and its adaptive dampers (GM's excellent MagnaRide). Interestingly, Motoring did point out that the Holden's electric steering is better than the Ford's hydraulic steering, which is a lot like a Porsche purist saying they prefer water-cooled engines to air cooled.
