1964 Ford Fairlane 500 four door sedan.  This car was stored in a dairy barn since 1979.  The gentleman that originally owned the vehicle replaced the original 260 V8 engine with a 289 Special that he had acquired from a wrecked low mileage 65-66 Mustang.  The reason he changed the engine was because the original 260 threw its oil pump through the oil pan.  The car has not run since 1979 and appears to be very solid.  The floors and the trunk compartment are solid with no rust through.  The front fenders have some minor rust holes coming in the lower sections.  The inner fender at the battery box is rusted out, but all the shock towers are solid with not signs of visible rust.  The left rear quarter panel was damaged in the late 1970s, and the owner attempted to beat the fender back out.  There is no sign of rot in the rear quarters.  The under carriage including all boxed framing appears to be solid and complete.  There are some parts missing from the car and I have no idea what the gentleman did with the parts.  The parts that are missing from what I can see is the master cylinder, power steering pump, headlight bezels, hubcaps, spare tire, jack, and the grille.  Although there is a grille in the trunk which is in good condition, it appears the grille is from a 1963 Fairlane rather than the 64.  There is an extra set of taillights in the trunk as well as a few other parts that goes with the vehicle.  All of the glasses are in good shape, but the exhaust system has deteriorated.  The car is not running and has not been started since 1979, so please be advised that this is not a vehicle that someone can drive away.  It will require towing and time to get it back into running condition.  I am including enough pictures to give an accurate depiction of the overall condition of the vehicle.  Please take the time to study the pictures and ask questions prior to bidding.  All questions will be answered honestly and as accurately as possible.

The vehicle is currently being sold as-is and where-is with no warranty implied or expressed.  Make sure to ask any and all questions prior to bidding on this vehicle.  A deposit of $200.00 dollars will be required within 3 days from the close of auction.  The buyer is responsible for shipping and transport.  The high bidder can make additional arrangements with seller if both agree.  Full payment is required within 7 days of auction's close.  Cash or Cashiers Check/Money Order.

Uber hopes facilities in Detroit will help shape its autonomous future

Mon, Sep 19 2016

Hot off the heels of unleashing its fleet of self-driving vehicles in Pittsburgh, PA, Uber announced plans to open a new facility in the Detroit, MI area, reports Automotive News. The new facility was announced at an event hosted by Society of Automotive Engineers in Detroit, MI. Uber's vice president of global vehicle programs Sherif Marakby revealed the news, reports Automotive News. The facility is meant to help the ride-sharing company collaborate with suppliers and automakers in the area. There's no word on where Uber will build the new facility or how big it will be, as those factors have yet to be determined. Just like Pittsburgh, PA, Detroit, MI could become another testing ground for the ride-sharing company. The latest move to open a facility in the Detroit area comes after Uber offered users in Pittsburgh the chance to ride in one of its autonomous vehicle as it looks to gain vital real-world testing. Uber is utilizing a fleet of modified Ford Fusions. Earlier this year in April, the automaker announced a partnership with Google, Lyft, Uber, and Volvo to develop autonomous cars. A new facility in Detroit would strengthen the partnership and help Uber, as well as Ford put autonomous vehicles on the road faster. Does the new 2015 Ford Mustang have a burnout control system?

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Whether it's lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking, most of the electronic systems we see emerging on new vehicles focus on safety. But there are some there just for enthusiasts. We're talking about systems like automatic throttle blipping for perfect downshifts, or launch control to get that textbook acceleration from a standstill. But the latest system could prove just the opposite of the latter.
Although it has given us most of the details, Ford is still keeping certain elements of its new Mustang secret. But emerging reports may have the skinny on one system which Ford is trying is darnedest to keep under its hat for the time being. That, according to unnamed sources cited by Motor Authority, is burnout control.
The system is reportedly designed to help novices execute the perfect smokey burnout - sort of like launch control, but specifically the opposite. The system could, according to elaborative speculation, lock the front brakes while spooling up the engine to optimal revolutions before dumping (or indicating the driver to do dump) the clutch. A cloud of tire smoke and a long pair of skid marks would then ensue.

Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."
