1964 Ford Fairlane 500 up for Auction

Great project with excellent paperwork, needs more than my skills and time will allow. It must go, I need the room for something else. I have a super low reserve to get it sold.

This car was ordered with 289-2V, 3 speed (green dot) Cruise-o-Matic trans, Black Vinyl Top, tinted glass, rocker panel mouldings, Power Steering, Air Cond., Power Brakes, 2 speed wipers, padded dash. Comes with Window Sticker and ALL paperwork from the dealer, manual, paint chip brochure, cards they figured different engines and options on, even a "lifetime guarantee" from the dealer. The car was from Kansas City, built and sold there. I got it with intentions of putting it back to original, but it just needs more than I'm capable of doing.

Needs- Rust repair on roof (from moisture under vinyl top), rust repair on rear quarters, bumpers redone or replaced, some trim pieces straightened and cleaned or replaced (all is there), headliner, carpet and other interior parts. Rear seat is good, front has 2 bad places, door panels could be cleaned and used if needed. I have 2 good used front fenders for replacements, also have some patch pieces for the quarters I cut off another car. All glass is good, rear window is out for rust repairs to window channels. It will need a new battery tray welded in(common issue) This car was undercoated, so the rear frames are good.

Mechanical- runs and drives (haven't started it in quite a while) Trans needs bands adjusted and a front seal(slips when you get on it good). Air Cond. compressor is in trunk, Brake booster is in trunk, PS cylinder and parts will need replaced(I located a correct PS pump and bought it- the remote reservoir mounts on the fenderwell), needs suspension rebuilt, radiator should be replaced(it had some crud in it). I replaced rear axle bearings and seals, new brakes on all 4 corners, tune-up on engine, fuel filter, added rebuilt carb, got gauges working, replaced ign. switch, (still needs some switches and wiring work) ,of coarse it needs new exhaust. I also have some small parts for repairs needed. I cleaned and coated the fuel tank and it seems to be doing well.

I have a lot of books, magazines, manuals, CDs that go with it as well.

I welded in front floorboard panels (they're solid, but not as pretty as you see on T.V.) I didn't figure I'd lift the carpet up at shows. Rear floors and trunk floor are in good shape.

If you like the '64 Fairlane's and have the skills and time, this is a great project. (the paperwork is awesome) It would be a great parts car as well, if you have one that's in better shape.

I've tried to be honest in my description, I'm sure I've forgot something. This is not a car that's ready to drive on the road, the car is almost 50 years old, it needs to be restored.

Please ask questions if needed, I may not get back right away but I'll try. Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end auction early. Please don't bid if you can't pick it up or pay, I have got to get it sold and gone. Reserve is very low, I'm prepared to take my loss and move on. Did I mention it HAS TO GO ?

Pick-up only. The car must be picked-up in Columbia, MS between Sept. 18-30, after that I'll have to move it outside. If this is an issue, don't bid. That's the only time I know for certain I'll be home.

Thanks for looking and good luck!

The history and future of the Ford Bronco

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

Some have suggested that the Bronco's demise was hastened by the fallout from the O.J. trial.
Twenty years ago today, ex-NFL linebacker Al "A.C." Cowlings drove his friend and onetime running back Orenthal James "O.J." Simpson on a parade lap of the Los Angeles highway system and onto an ignoble page of the history books. If you're in your late 20s or older, or a fastidious young student of 1990s American history, you're absolutely aware that Al and O.J.'s steed for the 'chase' was a white Ford Bronco. The white Ford Bronco, even.

Ford reports 58% drop in Q2 profits on European losses

Wed, 25 Jul 2012

Ford Motor Company announced Wednesday that it has posted a $1 billion profit for the second quarter of 2012. That sounds like good news for the Blue Oval, until you take into account that Ford posted a $2.4 billion profit for Q2 a year ago. That is a substantial 58 percent loss.
Ford also posted $465 million in international losses, with $404 million of those losses coming directly from Europe. The automaker also increased its European loss projections to $1 billion for 2012, due in large part to the economic crisis overseas, which has resulted in increased unemployment and decreased consumer confidence.

2015 Ford Mustang revs it up at Cars & Coffee

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

Just because the new 2015 Ford Mustang has officially been released, you didn't think that would be the end of the matter - did you? Of course not. There'll still be plenty of rumors, reports and video footage to bring you. Like this, the first non-official footage of the new pony car in the wild.
Shot by YouTube user SotA1080 and dug up by our friends at CarBuzz, this clip shows the new Mustang posing for photos (alongside other Mustangs) and starting up its engine at the most recent gathering of Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA. And this being the GT model, it's not packing the V6 or the turbo four, but the red-blooded 5.0-liter V8 that tells us and enthusiasts worldwide that the new Mustang has not lost its way. Scroll on down to watch the footage for yourself.
