1959 ford 2 door ranch wagon.

This car is a very solid car originally from California.  It has the original 300hp 352. The trans has been upgraded to a C6. It runs and drives beautifully. We have driven this a lot and it has been very reliable for us. We have taken several family vacations in it.  The paint and interior were done about 15 years ago.  If you are looking for perfection this is probably not for you, but it is priced accordingly.  If you are looking for an awesome car that is very solid and reliable and a ton of fun to take to on the road, to local cruises, car shows, and attract lots of attention than this is perfect!!  We get told often it looks perfect, but it has it's defects and I just want to be up front about them.  Like I said it is a very sound good car I just do not want there to be surprises.

All in all this is a very nice driver quality old car. It is very solid underneath and is not a typical Midwest bondo filled rust bucket. It gets TONS of attention everywhere we take it. Seriously we can't drive it 10 miles without getting honks and thumbs ups from other drivers.  The car was also used in a Budweiser car calendar in 2011.  Will include a copy if you want one.  The car has been in the Midwest for roughly 6 years and has never seen salt or snow.

New Parts:
Aluminum radiator (have original as well)
Carburetor (have original as well)
electronic ignition
tires
shocks and front suspension components

Issues:
speedometer usually does not work
radio usually does not work (original am)
uses as little oil, does NOT smoke (nothing alarming typical old car stuff)
leaks some oil (nothing alarming typical old car stuff)
Paint is 15 years old and has a few minor dings and touch ups

Has typical old car interior squeaks and rattles (again nothing major, but they are there like any old car)

Vacuum wipers only work sometimes (we try to avoid rain and use rain-x...never been an issue)

Detroit 3 and UAW set for showdown over tiered wages

Mon, Mar 23 2015

This week, thousands of United Auto Workers will converge on Cobo Center in Detroit for the Special Convention on Collective Bargaining, an every-four-year event that lets members tell UAW leaders what the negotiating priorities should be during contract negotiations. This is where a lot of sand and a lot of lines start coming together in preparation for contract negotiations between the UAW and the Detroit 3 automakers, which will happen later this year. Number one on the UAW agenda is the end of the two-tier wage system created in 2007 to help the automakers get through bankruptcy; veteran workers are paid the Tier 1 rate of around $29.00 per hour, new hires are paid the Tier 2 rate of between $15 and $20 and get about half the benefits of Tier 1. Tier 2 hiring has been an undoubted success for the automakers, allowing them to keep factories in the US and hire more workers. By agreement, it is capped at a certain percentage of each automaker's workforce, and while the union's ultimate position is to get rid of the dual-scale system entirely; one leader said Ford could easily afford the $335 million it would take to convert all its workers to Tier 1 out of its $6.9 billion in 2014 North American profit, and General Motors could do the same out of the $5 billion it is handing to investors through the (admittedly forced) share buyback. Other delegates say that at the very least they'd be happy with enforcement of the current caps in the new contract. The automakers, conversely, would welcome expansion of the Tier 2 ranks. Including benefits, import automakers pay workers "in the high $40 range" per hour, according to an analyst, while Ford and GM pay about $59 in wages and benefits per hour. More Tier 2 workers on the rolls would let those two companies get labor cost parity with the competition. Fiat-Chrysler pays wages closer to the imports because of special exceptions in its UAW contract that allow unlimited Tier 2 hiring; those exceptions will end on September 14 and bring FCA into line with the other domestics, unless the new contract maintains them. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne is opposed to the two-tier system, having called it "almost offensive." One analyst says the UAW might win a sizable pay raise for Tier 2 and a small increase for Tier 1, but the keystone issue will be how the hiring matrix can help the automakers keep overall wages in line with the imports.

Ford to auction Mustang Cobra Jet prototype for charity [w/video]

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

Prototypes developed by major automakers typically remain in said company's custody, but every once in a while, one trickles out into private hands. And that's just what we have here. Ford is donating a one-of-a-kind factory prototype for the 2014 Mustang Cobra Jet that will be auctioned off later this month by Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 mated to a T4 competition gearbox, this rare Cobra Jet prototype includes a wheelie bar, chromoly roll cage, Weld wheels, three-link rear suspension, racing brakes, 9-inch rear axle and more. It's painted in a unique satin orange with reflective gray striping scheme, bears the serial number 2014 BJMS CJXX1 and is fully ready for NHRA competition on the drag strip.
To be offered with no reserve on Saturday, September 28, 2013, the Cobra Jet prototype's winning bidder will also receive tutelage at Roy Hill's Drag Racing School in Sophia, NC, along with tours of the Ford Product Development Center, Ford Racing headquarters and Ford Design Studios with Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak. Scope out the video and details below for what could be the ultimate Mustang experience for a good cause.

Ford to update Sync, MyFord Touch software... again

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

Ford hasn't had the best luck with its MyFord Touch and Sync systems, as the finicky infotainment system has been subject to a critical whooping while customer issues have helped sink Ford's IQS scores. The automaker has made a concerted effort, though, to try and fix MyFord Touch. And while the results have been mixed, The Blue Oval is hoping its latest free update, set to go live next week, will make things better.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the new system promises streamlined voice commands with fewer levels between opening query and actual result. Ford is also addressing where certain options are selected on the touchscreen. Rather than working one of the four quadrants on the homescreen, users will be able to select anywhere within the quadrant to make adjustments.
While it might only be a band-aid for MFT's problems, the fact that Ford is still trying to improve it is a promising sign. It's going to take more than just this update to address the system's ills, though.
