RARE 1957 FORD SKYLINER WITH ONLY 64,000 DOUCUMENTED MILES! THIS CAR IS A MILESTONE CAR AND EVERYTHING WORKS.
IT WAS BOUGHT NEW IN 1957 BY A GERMAN IMMIGRANT WHO WORKED IN A MACHINE SHOP IN WISCONSIN. HE NEVER OWNED A CAR BUT WAS FASCINATED BY THE MECHANICS OF THE WORLD'S FIRST HARDTOP COVERTABLE. THE DAY HE RETIRED HE WENT DOWN TO THE FORD DEALER AND PAID CASH FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL CAR HAD CLEAR VINYL SEAT COVERS INSTALLED AND DROVE IT TO FLORIDA WHERE IT HAS REMAINED FOR THE LAST 56 YEARS! I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 1979 AND THE ONLY REASON I HAD IT PAINTED WAS THE OLD MAN HAD WAXED IT SO MUCH THE PRIMER WAS SHOWING THROUGH. I HAD IT PAINTED THE ORIGINAL TWO/TONE DRESEN BLUE & COLONIAL WHITE I ALSO HAD THE REAR BUMPER RECROMED. THE CLEAR SEAT COVERS WERE SO YELLOWED I HAD THEM REMOVED AND SHOWED THE CAR DURING THE 1980'S AND WON SEVERAL CAR SHOWS. THIS CAR HAS NO RUST AND HAS NEVER SEEN SNOW!
IN 1994 AFTER MY WIFE'S UNTIMELY DEATH THE CAR WAS PUT IN DRY STORAGE UP ON BLOCKS WHERE IT REMAINED FOR 16 YEARS. IN 2012 IT WAS REMOVED FROM STORAGE AND THE BRAKES WERE DONE WITH NEW HOSES AND REBUILT WHEEL CYLINDERS A BRAND NEW HOLLY 4 BARREL CARBURATOR WAS INSTALLED ALONE WITH A NEW RADIATOR. THE DUAL EXHAUSTS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW MUFFLERS AND ALUMINIZED CUSTOM PIPES. THE FRONT SEAT BOTTOM HAD SOME RIPS AND THE FOAM WAS STARTING TO DISINDEGRATE WITH AGE. I COULD NOT FIND ORIGINAL MATERIAL SO THE BOTTOM FRONT SEAT WAS REBUILT AND COVERED WITH BLUE VINYL FOR COMFORT AND SAFETY.
INCLUDED WITH THE CAR IS A BRAND NEW PAIR OF FOXCRAFT CRUSIER SKIRTS THAT I HAD PAINTED WITH THE CAR IN 1979 BUT THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN INSTALLED!
JUST ADDED A PICTURE OF THE ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE, HE BOUGHT THE CAR IN DECEMBER 1957 AND THEY DISCOUNTED $1,400 DOLLARS BECAUSE IT WAS THE END OF THE MODEL YEAR AND HE PAID CASH!

Ford recalls Explorer and Lincoln MKC for fire hazard
Thu, Mar 31 2016The Basics: Ford will recall 5,536 examples of the 2016 Explorer and 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC. The Explorers have build dates between October 20, 2014, and January 28, 2016, at the Chicago Assembly Plant. The MKCs are from between November 25, 2013, and January 25, 2016, at the Louisville Assembly Plant. In total, there are 3,129 total affected examples of the 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2,407 examples of the 2016 Ford Explorer. Of these, 1,543 are in the US and 3,993 are in Canada. The Problem: The combination of the engine block design and the block heater in these vehicles can cause the part to overheat when plugged in. Injuries/Deaths: None reported, but there are two cases of underhood fires in Canada. If you own one: Ford will begin notifying owners during the week of May 16, company spokesperson John Cangany tells Autoblog. Related Video: Ford issues safety recall for certain 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles to replace engine block heaters Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 5,500 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles to remove the heaters and replace them with an updated design. The engine block design, coupled with the particular block heater installed in these vehicles, causes the unit to be susceptible to overheating when the vehicle is parked and the block heater is plugged in –increasing the risk of an underhood fire. Ford is aware of two reports of underhood fires in Canada, but is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue. Affected vehicles include certain 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC vehicles built at Louisville Assembly Plant, Nov. 25, 2013 through Jan. 25, 2016 and certain 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant, Oct. 20, 2014 through Jan. 28, 2016. There are 5,536 vehicles affected by the issue, including 3,129 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2,407 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles, with 1,543 of the affected vehicles in the United States and federalized territories and 3,993 in Canada. Dealers will remove and replace the engine block heater with an updated design and, if needed, replace the cord at no cost to the customer.
Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod
Tue, 21 Oct 2014Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.
Ford Mustang EcoBoost has fake engine soundtrack
Wed, 24 Sep 2014The 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost represents a huge change for the Blue Oval as the first pony car in decades to be available with a four-cylinder engine. But a recent tweet (below) from Road & Track raised our curiosity about the new vehicle. Editor Jason Cammisa pulled a fuse while driving the latest 'Stang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, and he found that both the stereo and engine went quiet in the cabin. That indicated the coupe might have some form of artificial engine sound being piped in - a feature not previously heavily reported for the model. Autoblog spoke with Ford engineer Shawn Carney who confirmed that only the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang comes with this system, called Active Noise Control.
