1957 Ford Fairlane 500 2 Door Hardtop on 2040-cars
Sacramento, California, United States
1957 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door hardtop Believed to be a matching number, original car, 1owner. You are bidding on well known California Blues Guitarist Steve Samuels car that was featured on his band Redwing's first album cover. Our car club acquired this car from his family after his passing in June, as a project car or for fund raising. The father and son project originally planned did not work out and we are selling the car to help fund our clubs work shop. Here is what we know about the car: It is currently licensed and drive-able in California we have driven the car around and it starts and runs very well every thing seems to work including the overdrive transmission. The car appears to still have the original 312 Y Block Thunderbird engine with 4BBL carburetor. Upholstery while seriously in poor condition appear to be original as is the radio. As it spent much of its life on the coast of southern California it does as shown have some rust issues in the rocker panels as well as the front floor pans. It is missing one piece of trim, there is damage to one headlight and the interior needs replacement. Most if not all of the rust problems can be fixed with replacement panels currently available for these cars. We know it was Steve's dream to restore the car and there is a trunk full of spare parts and some of the parts that appear to be missing. It is my personal opinion that this is one of the most beautifully conceived and designed cars Ford Motor company ever built and it does deserve a full restoration especially in light of its history. We can help with getting this vehicle shipped any where in the world and are happy to do so. Thanks you for looking please do not hesitate to ask questions and good luck bidding. |

Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell revisit bitter F1 rivalry in... Ford Fusion campaign?
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Formula One World Champions Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell haven't been on good terms since the 1986 season, when Piquet joined Mansell at the Williams team and Piquet spent the year privately fuming about not being granted the status of number one driver. Things only got worse from there - even though Piquet won the title the following year with Williams, still partnered with Mansell, the fuming was a lot less private.
They're back together after a 25-year silence, in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil to drive the new Ford Fusion. Called "Fusion Grand Prix," both men get the new Ford sedan, prepped to their liking - but still street legal, we assume - for a race to decide... well, who is faster behind the wheel of a Fusion.
There will be four episodes, with the first two having already aired. The third episode comes on January 29 and the race happens February 5. You'll find two video episodes and a press release below, but note - because it's a campaign for Ford Brazil, Piquet's dialogue in the vids isn't translated, so hit the Closed Captioning button to hear his side of the smack talking.
Mulally wanted to kill Lincoln as late as last year, Fields vows to turn it around
Mon, 30 Jun 2014Lincoln fans might want to give incoming Ford CEO Mark Fields a pat on the back for having a hand in saving the brand from the chopping block last year. He's among the people spearheading the rejuvenation of the division away from its stodgy image to appeal to younger customers.
According to two unnamed sources speaking to Bloomberg, CEO Alan Mulally was ready to kill Lincoln last year. Following the slow production ramp-up of the MKZ combined a with a costly ad campaign, Mulally was frustrated and openly suggested dropping the brand. However, Fields and Jim Farley, Ford's marketing boss, convinced the CEO that the brand was worth saving. They also created a plan to prevent similar problems for new models in the future.
It seems that one part of the strategy may involve waiting until new models are at dealers before starting a big ad campaign for them. Lincoln global director, Matt VanDyke, recently told Autoblog that the division is holding off on a full marketing push behind the new MKC crossover to prevent the supply problems that plagued the MKZ last year. Its big offensive begins in the fall when the CUVs are at all of the dealers and consumers are at home watching more TV. VanDyke also told Bloomberg that Fields, Farley and Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, have more direct oversight over new product launches now.
2015 Ford Mustang specs revealed, GT to pack 435 HP
Thu, 17 Jul 2014The 2015 Ford Mustang sounds great so far - at least on paper. Ford has just announced specs for the latest version of the iconic pony car in Dearborn, telling Autoblog that it will pump out as much as 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque from its 5.0-liter V8.
Those gaudy figures power the naturally aspirated GT model, and they easily eclipse the "more than" 420 hp and 390 lb-ft that Ford originally estimated.
The 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder makes 310 hp and 320 lb-ft, and it's the first turbo Mustang since the 1986 SVO.
