2001 Ford F450 Xlt Cab And Chassis, 1-owner, 7.3l Diesel Flat Bed Dump Truck on 2040-cars
Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, United States
If you've been looking for a well cared for heavy duty truck and want to put your own commercial bed on it than my extremely well cared for 1-Owner Ford F450 with the 7.3L Powerstroke is for you.
Mechanically this truck is solid. Motor fires right up with no hesitation or smoke. Sounds healthy through all the RPM's with no missing or blow by. Transmission shifts beautifully through all the gears with no slipping or funny shifts. Drives down the road like it has 60k on it. No shimmies, brake pulse, or driveline noise. Just an overall great running truck that has been meticulously maintained over the years. I just sold a 2002 with 150k that doesn't even come close to how nice this one drives. A/C is ice cold. Power windows and locks work. Has like new tires all the way around. Has a good PA inspection until 8/14. Get this truck and put whatever bed you want on it. Cosmetically it doesn't look like it has 344k. Paint shines like the day it left the showroom. Definitely garage kept. Body is nice and straight with the exception of a door ding that's shown in the pictures. Has a couple of light scratches but overall your jaw will drop when you see how nice it is. Alcoa wheels are in great shape. Frame is free of rust. Interior is extremely clean and shows little wear. Smells good inside and wasn't smoked in. Overall this is a great platform to throw your bed of choice on to and get on the road knowing what kind of previous owner had this truck. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call at 717-823-3349. My name is Zach. If you would like to see it in person please call and make an appointment. I am only human and may have missed something that is important to you so please ask any questions before buying. Although this truck is in incredible shape it does have 344k and is not a 2015. A $500 non refundable deposit is due at the end of the auction. This truck is being sold by Platinum Car and Truck Sales, LLC in Elizabethtown, PA |

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
Ford wants to double hybrid offerings by 2020
Wed, Jan 15 2014The Blue Oval is looking for folks on the other side of this Big Old Sphere to get on board with its hybrid offerings. Ford executive Raj Nair, speaking at the Detroit Auto Show this week, said the US automaker wants to double the number of hybrids models it offers by the end of the decade, Reuters reports. Details of what that actually means is anyone's guess, as it was unclear how many of those models would be in the US and how many would be overseas. That said, Nair did say that prospective customers in regions such as China and Europe would drive the expansion of offerings. Ford got off to a great start in the US last year on its hybrid sales, but then tailed off towards the end of 2013. Ford more than doubled its green-car sales in 2013 to almost 88,000 units. In that number were more than 37,000 Fusion Hybrids and more than 28,000 C-Max Hybrids sold domestically. The company also sold almost 7,500 Lincoln MKZ Hybrids. Ford's green-car totals for 2013 were up fivefold at the mid-year point, hinting that Ford's hybrid sales plateaued, at least temporarily, in recent months.
Ford's Farley apologizes for saying Blue Oval tracks customers with GPS
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Ford marketing head honcho Jim Farley made waves at CES this week by telling show attendees, "We know everyone who breaks the law, we know when you're doing it." according to a report by Business Insider. Farley continued by saying, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone."
Farley has since amended his statement, saying that Ford dose not, in fact, track its customers in their cars "without their approval or consent."
Apparently carried away with a hypothetical notion, Farley was attempting to describe how Ford might be able to employee aggregated user data for things like accurate traffic reporting and pattern spotting. A Ford spokesperson confirmed with Business Insider that its GPS units are not sharing the whereabouts of drivers, though there are a few on-board services that might do so. After opting in to the services (and presumably being made aware of any/all tracking and data collection), Ford's Sync Services Directions and Crew Chief software do, in fact, allow data collection as a means of improving both systems. Farley added that the opt-in data is not shared, even when being tracked.
