UP For Sale is an Extremely Clean 2005 Ford F-350 Crew Cab 4x4 with a BULLETPROOFED 6.0 motor!  Only 56,500 original miles!  I am the third owner of the truck and have the original window sticker, manuals and every reciept for this meticulously kept truck!

This California only truck was ordered from the Factory with Lariat package with the FX4 package, which gave you the limited rear slip axle with 3.73 and skid plates.  It has the factory 18" Ford Wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar side walled tires 285x75x18 that have 60% tread left.

The engine upgrades were professionally installed (reciepts and workorder) and ordered from BULLETPROOF diesel.  The package that was installed on this truck cost over $5,000 dollars in parts and labor.  It is the "Professional Package" which includes the egr cooler, oil cooler, remote oil filter etc. (see picture of whole parts list).  It also has a coolant filter installed on it.  The head bolts were not replaced.  If you research this, The biggest failure for headbolts are not doing the egr cooler, chipping the S$%* out of your truck, huge tires and heavy towing.

THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN CHIPPED, TUNED ETC.  It is equipped with a Scan Guage diagnostic system to help monitor the truck.  This truck was used sparingly by it's original owner, the second owner used it to haul his truck camper to Mexico (from california) and wanted it to be super reliable with his family.  This is the reason for the bulletproof kit and the kevlar sidewall tires.  I purchased it less than a year ago to haul my truck camper, this was my last ditch effort to keep the truck camper until two months ago I was talked into to buying a Class C motorhome for the growing family.  This is the only reason I am selling this truck, I don't need it any longer.  I searched for a long time to find the better handling, riding superduty's but wanted the 6.0 problems handled already.  When I found this truck, I jumped on it.  This is a hard truck to find......

The interior of this truck is grey leather and in amazing condition.  The only blemish on the whole truck is the seam on the oustide of the driver seat is starting to seperate (see pic).  Other than that, the truck doesn't have a scatch on it, it is truly in excellent condition.

Additional features:

ICON 4" suspension lift (best lift for these trucks) with Donahue Signature Series Shocks

Firestone rear airbag system (no compressor)

Class V hitch (overkill by original owner, he towed a car trailer)

Overall this Ford is one of the nicest ones I have seen.  It has been pampered and meticously cared for.  I did an Oil change and Fuel Filter Change at 54000 miles.  They say to change oil no more than 5,000 miles (depending on use) and the fuel filters every 10,000 miles.  So it will not need these serviced for awhile.

My credit union holds the note to the truck (local credit union).  I will work patiently with serious buyers.  If you know what your looking at then you know you found a diamond in the rough.  Please contact me if you have questions.  If you would like to speak in person send my your telephone number and I will call you, so you get a feel for me and me for you.  I am not desperate to sell this truck, I would like it to go to someone who will appreciate it.  One thing you won't have to deal with is some diesel dealer telling you everything you want to hear, and wondering if the truck was raced or 4 wheeled etc.  There are no dissapointments with this truck!  The mileage will most likely increase slightly as I drive the truck a couple times a week for a 16 mile commute.  I reserve the right to end the auction early.  Please bid with confidence and ask questions if you have them.  Good luck

Ford is recalling more Takata airbag-equipped Ford and Lincoln models

Thu, Mar 2 2017

The Basics: Takata, the beleaguered airbag supplier at the root of the largest recall in automotive history, has informed Ford of a problem with the airbags in just over 30,000 Ford and Lincoln models. The problem is not related to the non-desiccated ammonium nitrate airbag inflators that plague the other airbags ( including many Fords), meaning there isn't a risk of shrapnel flying out from the units in this particular recall. The Problem: In the event of an accident, the front airbags may only partially inflate, and the airbag may become detached from the module because of misaligned parts. The problem affects 2016 and 2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models built at the Oakville Assembly Plant. The issue also affects 2017 Lincoln Continentals that were built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Injuries/Deaths: In a release, Ford stated that it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the airbag issue. The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag module at no cost. If You Own One: Sit tight and wait for Ford to notify owners. When that happens, take your car to the dealer for a replacement. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. UK's Loughborough University improving Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine

Wed, May 21 2014

How much does it cost for college students to study zero emissions vehicles? At Loughborough University in the UK, a new Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) is being built at a cost of a billion pounds ($1.7 billion US). The school has just announce that it will fund a number of grad student positions and is creating a new Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, which sounds like a fun job to us. We're weird like that. There will be a total of four professor-type positions in the new Center, including the chair, all focused on teaching students about low-carbon vehicle technologies, specifically electric and hybrid ones. The school is investing 1.5 million pounds ($2.5 million) for the new positions. There is a bigger picture as well, a 26-million pound ($44 million) Advanced Combustion Turbocharged Integrated Variable-valvetrain Engine (ACTIVE) project, which uses funds not only from the school but also from Ford and others. The point of ACTIVE is to study Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and "improve further its efficiency and ensure it exceeds 2020 emission regulations." This is already a popular engine for the automaker, and it will need to stay at the bleeding edge of efficiency to remain as important in 2020 as it is today. Loughborough University has been working with automakers on advanced energy technologies for years, for example with Rolls-Royce and fuel cells in 2007 and the Lotus Hotfire engine in 2008. University invests GBP1.5M in advanced propulsion research to advance zero emissions vehicles challenge Loughborough University is investing GBP1.5M over five years in strategic research appointments, inspired by the global challenge to develop the new advanced propulsion technologies required for the move to zero emission vehicles. These appointments reinforce the University's world-class research in low-carbon vehicle technologies, adding new dimensions concerned with electric and hybrid drives. Four appointments will be made, including a Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, supported by a number of PhD studentships. The GBP1.5M investment is part of the University's commitment to the recently announced Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) to support the development of new supply chains for low carbon vehicles. APC is an initiative established by the Automotive Council that will see GBP1 billion of investment from government and industry over the next 10 years.

The fascinating forgotten civil defense history of Mister Softee trucks

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. Click over to Throwin' Wrenches for the full run down of how Mister Softee would have stepped in to help fight if the Cold War ever turned a little hotter.
