For sale is an extremely clean, accident free, low mileage, 1996 Ford F-350 Crew Cab XLT 4X4, with the legendary
7.3 Liter Powersroke Diesel Engine driving through a ZF-5 Speed Manual Transmission. This was a 1 owner truck that
I purchased from the original owner here in New Mexico. As you can see he took amazing of care of it and left the
truck completely stock other than installing a Skyjacker 4 Inch Suspension Lift Kit. All regular and routine
maintenance was always conducted by Ford Motor Company technicians, and the oil was changed every 5,000 miles. The
body of the truck is in immaculate condition, with absolutely no rust or damage anywhere. The paint is also in
great condition as well, with no major scratches or damage anywhere, but does have some very small dings, and
scuffs here and there that you would expect to see on a truck of this age. There is a very small area on the
passenger side of the bed where the clear cote has peeled a little, but over-all the paint is in great condition.
The inside of the bed is in excellent condition with absolutely no dints or damage anywhere, and has an older spray
in bed liner as well. The truck has the stock premium aluminum wheels with brand new 315X75R16 (35 Inch) Cooper STT
Mud Terrain Tires with a full warranty, and new OEM valve stems. The 7.3 Liter Powerstroke Diesel engine runs
great, and is completely stock and un-tampered with, and has never had a chip or programmer installed. A brand new
Diamond Eye 5 Inch turbo back exhaust system was just installed for better fuel economy, and lower exhaust
temperatures helping pro-long the life of the engine. The engine has absolutely no leaks or problems what-so-ever,
and is completely reliable and mechanically sound. I would not hesitate driving this truck anywhere. The engine oil
was just changed over to Royal Purple Full Synthetic 15W-40 and a K&N Oil Filter was installed. The fuel filter,
serpentine belt, and the belt tensioner assembly were also just replaced. I also purchased two rechargeable K&N Air
Cleaners to replace the stock paper filter for better fuel economy. The extra K&N Air Filter is a spare that’s
included with the truck. The drive train and 4X4 on the truck all work flawlessly and as it should. The front
differential is the highly sought after solid axle Dana 60 with premium manual locking hubs , which drives straight
down the road with no slop or play in the steering wheel. The rear differential is the heavy duty Ford Sterling
with the limited slip package. Both the front and rear differentials have a 4:10 gear ratio. The ZF-5 Speed Manual
Transmission feels like new, and shifts tight with no grinding or slop what-so-ever. The glass is all in excellent
shape on the truck other than a small crack in the front windshield caused by a rock on the highway. The interior
is in excellent shape and looks brand new with absolutely no stains, rips, or tears anywhere. The front seats are
bucket seats with the center jump seat/center console, and the rear seat is a bench seat. The dash is in excellent
shape with absolutely no cracks or splits anywhere, and has a brand new carpet dash mat from Dash Design. A new sun
visor/dash shade is also included that was custom made for the truck. The truck still has the stock Ford radio with
the tape cassette that still works great. The truck has power windows, power door locks, tilt wheel, cruise
control, a warm heater, and an ice cold air conditioner. This is a very clean, reliable, extremely hard to find
truck that has never been abused, and has always been adult owned and well maintained. These are the last of the
real diesel trucks made that were built to last. I have a complete binder of receipts for all the parts that were
purchased, as well as all the routine services that were completed on the truck that will be included at the time
of purchase

Project Ugly Horse: Part VI

Solid axle? What solid axle?
I was fully prepared to embark on a seven-day journey down a rabbit hole of broken bolts, internet hearsay and consternation.
This should not have gone this easily. Having a long and checkered history of simple projects punctuated by much wailing and gnashing of knuckles, I was fully prepared to embark on a seven-day journey down a rabbit hole of broken bolts, internet hearsay and consternation when I finally decided to lay hands on the '89 Mustang with the goal of relieving the car of its stock rear axle. Instead, it took less than a full morning's worth of work to carve the old 7.5-inch solid axle from its moorings and mock up something, well, different.

Ford dealers offered discounts on tools to fix aluminum

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

With the introduction of the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 (and the likely use of aluminum in future Ford products), Ford is looking to help its dealerships reduce costs related to repairing this more labor-intensive material. Automotive News is reporting that Ford dealers with body shops will require an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 in equipment and training to work on aluminum, and to help alleviate the financial burden of the new F-150, Ford has announced a special 20-percent discount on this equipment.
Dealers will be able to save up to $10,000 on tools such as welders, air-filtration systems and rivet guns and to create aluminum-specific work stations. The new F-150 goes on sale in the fourth quarter, and dealers have until October 31 to take advantage of this deal, according to the report.

Bronco, Yukon, Hummer and a CES recap | Autoblog Podcast #610

Fri, Jan 17 2020

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski and Assistant Editor Zac Palmer. They kick things off by talking about recent news, including the revival of the Hummer name as an electric pickup, revealing Ford Bronco spy shots and the unveiling of the 2021 GMC Yukon. Then Zac tells about his time in Las Vegas attending CES 2020. They talk about the cars they've been driving: a JCW-tuned Mini Clubman, the long-term Subaru Forester with its new gold wheels, a Volvo S60 PHEV that's been added to the long-term fleet, and a Camry Hybrid. Last, but not least, they help a listener decide how to spend his money on a sports car.
