1987 Ford F350 Diesel - Low Miles on 2040-cars
Bend, Oregon, United States
1987 F350 Crew Cab Dually, 6.9L Diesel (International Harvester engine not a PowerStroke) 2WD, 4spd Manual Transmission, A/C, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Door Locks, Power Front Windows, Front Bucket Seats with Arm Rests, Large Center Console, Clean Interior, a block heater and a year old tool box with keys. CLEAN TITLE IN HAND.
We are estimating there is only 126,700 miles on the truck; the odometer works but only has 5 places for numbers. My friend's grandfather bought it new and only used it rarely to haul horses/cows. I have only driven it about 5000 miles since I bought it, the tires are like new, the dual rear wheel fenders are in good shape and the drivetrain is strong. Before I bought this truck 3 years ago the owners had replaced all the brakes including a master cylinder, brake calipers, wheel cylinders, all new tires, and a new valve for the dual tanks. Shortly after I bought the truck I put new exhaust, new belts, new batteries (2) and new emergency brake cables. Since I bought the truck I have put Lucas additive in every tank of fuel and always used Rotella Full Synthetic motor oil. Last year I had some mechanical repairs, parts installed, etc. (approximately $4000.00) and I have receipts. · new power window motors · gooseneck hitch installed · 16,000lb receiver hitch installed · new 7way gooseneck plug installed · new 7way receiver plug installed · new 4way receiver plug installed · new fifth wheel hitch tailgate installed · new Prodigy brake controller installed · mud flaps installed · new radiator, lower and upper radiator hoses installed (performance radiator) · new thermostat and gasket installed · new brake master cylinder installed · new clutch master cylinder installed · u-joint installed · miscellaneous mechanical repairs The valve cover gaskets need to be replaced but I have the gaskets so you can replace them yourself or pay a mechanic approximately $100.00 to install them. This truck doesn't look real pretty but it is very reliable and an all around great running truck! |

Ford wins second consecutive Engine of the Year with 1.0L EcoBoost [UPDATE]
Wed, 05 Jun 2013For the second year in a row, Ford has taken top honors in International Engine of the Year voting. As was the case last year, it is Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine that earns the automaker the accolade, achieving the highest-ever accumulated score in the 15 years that the award has been handed out.
A panel of 87 automotive journalists from 35 countries are responsible for choosing the world's best engines, and this is only the third time an automaker has managed back-to-back victories. Voters were impressed by the "Baby EcoBoost" engine's power output - 123 horsepower between 1,400 and 4,500 rpm, 148 pound-feet of torque from 1,400 to 4,000 rpm - and its compact size; Ford has demonstrated that the package is small enough to fit in the overhead bin of a passenger airplane.
Currently, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost is offered in the European Fiesta, B-MAX, Focus, C-MAX and Grand C-MAX, and Ford plans to put the engine in the Transit Connect, Transit Courier, Tourneo Connect, Tourneo Courier, Mondeo and EcoSport in short order. In North America, the Fiesta will be the first vehicle to offer the 1.0L EcoBoost later this year.
Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.
Jay Leno sees how the other half lives with CHP cop cars new and old
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Comedian Jay Leno is changing gears from driving fast cars to checking out some of the police cruisers that regularly chase down and dish out punishment to those fast cars. In this episode of Jay Leno's Garage, we get the lowdown on the modifications made to the Ford Explorer for the Interceptor package (which looks pretty tough in its California Highway Patrol livery).
The new Ford is cool, but cooler still are the pack of classic CHP cars that Jay has along for the episode. A 1982 Mustang, 1966 Dodge Polara, 1970 Mercury Monterey and 2000 Crown Victoria are all in the shop. Better still, Jay lays out an argument for ones of the classic cruisers as the best cop car of all time. Get your guesses in now, and then scroll down to watch and learn.
