Driver's seat had a small tear along the seam that has been repaired. Interior is clean, and everything works great. Cold a/c, four-wheel shift on the fly, six seats and tons of room, spray-in liner. It has a trailer brake system and a turn-over gooseneck hitch, but the ball needs replacing. This is the 6.0 engine and has an EGR delete kit, upgraded hose, and upgraded high-pressure oil pump. Engine checks out great with lots of power. If local, I'll meet you at a mechanic of your choice. It has a superior anti-theft system--the only system that boasts no car ever stolen. Check out Ravelco. It has new KYB dual-tube gas shocks in front. Two tires are brand new, and the other two tires have about 50% tread left.I am downsizing as I no longer need a heavy-duty truck.Call or text with any questions. KBB shows 14,161 for good condition and 13,000 for fair condition. 214-460-0385Justin"

Condition--Overall, this truck is in great condition.  The paint is good, the leather is good, and everything on it works.  It doesn't need any work except two new tires which I will have done before I sell it.  While it is in great shape overall, there are a couple of minor issues since it is ten years old.  I want to be fair and disclose any problems that I am aware of.  There was a small tear in the driver's seat along the seam when I bought it, but it was repaired.  The hood has a few very faint hail marks, but they are very hard to spot.  The tailgate has five or six little dings where I assume the owner before me hit it while trying to connect a trailer.  And the driver's side mirror has a piece of the outside lens missing.  I am more than happy to send you close-up pictures of any of these areas so you can be confident with what you are bidding on.

Features--This is a sharp looking truck with nice chrome accents on the door handles, fenders, bumpers, and grille.  It also has color-matched vents above each door.  It has Rhino-lining spray-in liner and a towing package.  It has a 7-way trailer light and brake connection as well as a connection for gooseneck trailers.  The turn-over hitch is in good shape, but the ball itself needs replacing.

History--I am the second owner, and I have owned this truck for three and a half years.  I have put about 22K miles on it during that time, so you can tell I don't drive it much.  I used to have a place in the country with cattle and needed a heavy-duty truck to pull a trailer, but now I am downsizing and no longer need a truck this big.  I will meet you at a local mechanic of your choice to verify the condition if you would like.  The vehicle history report indicates this truck was in an accident, and technically, that is how it was listed on the police report, but in reality, it was not an accident.  Rather, someone broke in and tried to steal it.  Since I had the Ravelco system installed, they were not able to steal it, but it still gets reported as an accident.  The exterior lock on the driver's door had to be replaced due to the break in.

Kelley Blue Book says this truck is worth $14,161 in good condition and $13,000 in fair condition.  NADA has it retailing at $15,125 in excellent condition.  My truck is in good to very good condition, and I have tried to be forthright about the issues I am aware of.  My reserve is set at 11K, so someone can get a good deal.  I am selling it for two reasons--first, I no longer need a truck this big, and second, it doesn't fit in my garage.  I am also partly selling because I want to get back in a Chevy.  I had a Chevy before that was stolen (which is why I had the Ravelco system installed on this one), and I would like to get one again.  Please call or text with any questions.  214-460-038 five.

Shipping and Payment--Local pick-up only unless the buyer wants to pay for shipping.  I will accept cash or Paypal, but if using Paypal, please add 1.5% to the final bid price.  Paypal charges 3%, and I will split this fee with the buyer.  I have the title in-hand and can sign it over immediately upon payment.

Ford Transit is America's new best-selling van

Tue, Jan 6 2015

The Ford Motor Company's sales in December ticked up 1.2 percent in the US, and the automaker was down 0.5 percent for 2014. But the Blue Oval looks like it might have a real winner on its hands when it comes to its new Transit van. The recently introduced line nearly doubled its numbers during the month by delivering 10,030 units for an annual total of 20,488 examples sold. It also gave the fullsize model the title of America's bestselling van for December. Those 10,000 sales put the Transit head and shoulders above all of its competitors in the crowded commercial van market. Second place went to the Chevrolet Express with 5,611 sales in December, and the ancient Ford E-Series was third with 5,256 moved. The rest of the segment was somewhat lower, with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter at 3,288 units for the month, Ram ProMaster at 3,036, GMC Savana with 1,725 and Nissan NV at 1,554. December also marked the second month in a row for the Transit to beat out the E-Series in sales. However, its predecessor still won overall for the year with 103,263 units moved in 2014, but it enjoyed a full calendar year of sales. According to Ford spokesperson Mike Levine, the smaller Transit Connect had its best sales month ever for December too, and the automaker has been among the sales leaders in the van segment for the last 36 years. "Clearly, sales show we're best at meeting our customers' needs," said Levine to Autoblog, who touted the model's results on Twitter and cited the Transit's numerous configurations as its biggest selling point. Ford's latest van has other plusses, too, say analysts. "The one thing the Transit has going for it is a low base price relative to the competition. Compare the base price of the Sprinter to the Transit and it is hands-down a Transit win," said Dave Sullivan, auto industry analyst at AutoPacific, to Autoblog. Purely by model name, the Transit was also the bestselling van in November, with 4,851 deliveries. However, the Chevy Express had 4,478 sales, plus 716 more from the GMC Savana. Since these two are the same model beneath the skin, as a platform, they arguably took the title for that month. With a new year already here, the Transit has a new challenge to face. "2015 will be the year that the Transit has to leave the nest, because E-Series inventories will be close to zero and Transit will have to carry all the weight," said Sullivan.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.
