NO ACCIDENTS or BUMPS!  PRISTINE IN AND OUT.   NO MUD OR OFF ROAD AT ALL.   Bought this truck about 1.5 years ago, new off the dealer lot. Was going to get a king ranch but did not like the interior color tone or the tan on the bumpers.  The bumpers look good now but noticed the 2-3 year old ones look faded and dirty (even when clean).    It was a late build 2011 (5/11) and bought it in April 2012  (18-19 month on bumper to bumper).  Had it Rhino lined through the dealer along with adding accessories.  Has upfitter switches, 20" wheels, 6 inch running boards, remote start, sunroof, 6.7 diesel, 4x4 with locking rear, rear sensors, rear view camera, A/C seats, heated seats, auto dim rear view, power fold and extend side mirrors, power rear window, power brake controller, premium sound, DVD player (JVC) with upgraded speakers, SYNC, blue tooth, NAV, etc.

MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES TO APPOINTMENTS WITH CUSTOMERS.  SELLING TO BUY A NEW TRUCK!100,000 POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WITH THE DIESEL, 18-19 MONTHS LEFT ON THE 3 YEARS/ 36,000 BUMPER TO BUMPER.  NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. OIL CHANGED EVERY 5, OOO MILES AT THE DEALER. AVERAGING 17.1 MPG.

Added upgraded Hella horns ($100) weak factory horn, Rigid LED light bar with custom bracket ($650)  bad factory lights and live in the country side,  JVC Arsenal DVD ($400) does NAV with Iphone, upgraded speakers ($200),  Rhino liner ($500), Tinted windows ($110), 6"running boards ($650), upfitter switches ($125).

Led lights are connect to high beams but can be turned off via upfitter switch #2. You can also turn the LED on independently at any time with #1 upfitter switch.   Felt the stereo was very average to worse than and the sync was not so good either.  Fixed with new JVC unit.  Also have factory head unit.  Both have blue tooth sound, hands free calling, navigation, but the JVC sounds 4x better than factory and has better bluetooth audio.   Have a JVC link cord for Iphone that puts navigation on the screen.

MSRP with accessories like the upfitter switches, running boards, Rhino liner, Was over $61000.  Boss truck no towing of note. Have a small enclosed single axle trailer.

OIL CHANGES EVERY 5,000 AT THE DEALER. ALSO ROTATE EVERY 5K. Nitro Fill in the tires.  Washed and cleaned often! Very particular.  Lexol clean and condition the leather every few months.

Next Ford Raptor spotted wearing aluminum skin

Wed, 07 May 2014

Well, look at what we have here. Judging from these spy shots, Ford is indeed working on the next generation of its off-road-ready F-150 Raptor pickup truck. We've made no attempt to hide our appreciation for the Baja-style truck, which combines most of the usability of a fullsize truck with heavy-duty suspension components to make a kind of performance vehicle that is unique in the market.
What we haven't known, until now, is whether Ford would push forward with its Raptor program now that it has a completely new F-150 to serve as its base. And that's especially true since Ford made the bold move of switching the bodywork of its best-seller from tried-and-true steel to aluminum. As you can see above, the front and rear of this silver truck are clad in current-gen Raptor bodywork, while the center section that houses the occupants appears to come from the upcoming 2015 F-150.
Dissecting the views above, we note a few interesting tidbits. First, there looks to be a bulge in the truck's hood. Second, we see a new grille between the current Raptor's headlights, sporting a mesh finish and two horizontal bars. Lastly, our eyes can't help but lock in on those burly A-arm suspension pieces down below, not to mention all that ground clearance the specialty suspenders bring to the table.

UK's Loughborough University improving Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine

Wed, May 21 2014

How much does it cost for college students to study zero emissions vehicles? At Loughborough University in the UK, a new Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) is being built at a cost of a billion pounds ($1.7 billion US). The school has just announce that it will fund a number of grad student positions and is creating a new Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, which sounds like a fun job to us. We're weird like that. There will be a total of four professor-type positions in the new Center, including the chair, all focused on teaching students about low-carbon vehicle technologies, specifically electric and hybrid ones. The school is investing 1.5 million pounds ($2.5 million) for the new positions. There is a bigger picture as well, a 26-million pound ($44 million) Advanced Combustion Turbocharged Integrated Variable-valvetrain Engine (ACTIVE) project, which uses funds not only from the school but also from Ford and others. The point of ACTIVE is to study Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and "improve further its efficiency and ensure it exceeds 2020 emission regulations." This is already a popular engine for the automaker, and it will need to stay at the bleeding edge of efficiency to remain as important in 2020 as it is today. Loughborough University has been working with automakers on advanced energy technologies for years, for example with Rolls-Royce and fuel cells in 2007 and the Lotus Hotfire engine in 2008. University invests GBP1.5M in advanced propulsion research to advance zero emissions vehicles challenge Loughborough University is investing GBP1.5M over five years in strategic research appointments, inspired by the global challenge to develop the new advanced propulsion technologies required for the move to zero emission vehicles. These appointments reinforce the University's world-class research in low-carbon vehicle technologies, adding new dimensions concerned with electric and hybrid drives. Four appointments will be made, including a Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, supported by a number of PhD studentships. The GBP1.5M investment is part of the University's commitment to the recently announced Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) to support the development of new supply chains for low carbon vehicles. APC is an initiative established by the Automotive Council that will see GBP1 billion of investment from government and industry over the next 10 years.

Reflecting on the Ford GT on its 10-year anniversary

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

Ten years ago, during the bright-eyed enthusiasm of the early 2000s and before the collective automotive industry did its best Titanic impression, we had the Ford GT. An everyman's supercar like there'd never been (remember, this was before 638-horsepower Corvettes were a thing), the GT arrived with a supercharged, 5.4-liter V8 that produced 550 horsepower and graced this retro-styled rocket with an easy, sub-four-second sprint to 60 miles per hour.
Equal to the GT's performance were its looks. Inspired by the GT40 racers that dominated Le Mans and bested Ferrari in the 1960s, the sleek, low, almost-reptilian look of the GT was the absolute pinnacle of the retro styling that so defined the early 2000s.
Crank and Piston put together a video celebrating the ten-year-old GT, arguing that Ford is a bit too busy with the next-gen Mustang, which turns 50 next week, to do it themselves. In the short clip, there is gratuitous engine noise and supercharger whine, not to mention scenes of the white-on-red GT prowling the deserts and streets of Dubai. It's a bit short, but very nicely shot. Scroll down, have a look and be sure to turn up those speakers before getting started.
