2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty Xlt Extended Cab Pickup 4-door 5.4l on 2040-cars
Howell, Michigan, United States
This is my 2002 Ford F250. It has just under 84,000 original miles. The vehicle is in excellent condition for its age, but does have some very minor rust beginning. But really the only visible rust is a quarter sized spot on the rear passenger fender. There is some other rust beginning on the absolute bottom of the doors on the inside behind the weather strip, but the vehicle still looks great.
I am the second owner of this vehicle. Both myself and the previous owners are non-smokers and the inside of the vehicle is in excellent/clean condition. The only known issue with the vehicle is that the vacuum actuation of the 4x4 isn't working. However, the 4x4 does still work and works fine, you just have to lock the hubs. Typically on these Fords, this is caused by a problem in the hub seal inside the hub assembly, which is a relatively cheap/easy fix. Here are the options: - 4x4 - Power Windows - Power Locks (no FOB/keyless entry though) - Rear Slider (manual) - 8 ft. bed (w/spray in bedliner) - Tow Hitch w/Trailer Brake Controller I also installed an Alpine radio that is Bluetooth equipped. Replaced the OEM speakers. I have the original equipment and it will come with the vehicle. Additionally, the tires on this vehicle are almost new all the way around. The truck starts/drives/runs flawlessly as you'd expect from it's condition and mileage. It's had an easy life. Previous owner redid a lot of the front end, so you won't have to deal with that anytime soon. The vehicle drives straight and true. I'm only parting with this truck because it's simply too big for my needs. This is a very big truck, so if you're not familiar with a 3/4 ton extended cab with an 8 ft. bed, make sure you understand its size. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I have the clean/clear title in my hand/in my name... there is no lien on the vehicle. I prefer face-to-face cash sale. Thanks! |

Feds looking into Ford Explorer exhaust leak complaints
Fri, 20 Jun 2014There may be a burgeoning problem with exhaust leaks in the 2011-2014 model year Ford Explorer. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is examining multiple complaints of a gasoline smell in the cabin of these SUVs. However, the exact cause of this problem is still unknown.
"The agency is reviewing all available data and will take appropriate action as warranted," said a NHTSA spokesperson in an email to Automotive News. Owners seem to generally complain on the regulator's website of the smell entering the cabin through the air vents. At this time, the government organization has not yet opened an official investigation into the problem, though. When it does begin inspecting vehicles, NHTSA posts a detailed breakdown of its public data online.
Similar problems have been reported about the Explorer in the past, though. In 2013, Ford issued a recall for the 2013 model year of the SUV due to a fuel leak that could cause drivers to smell a gasoline odor and repaired them again later for another possible leak. In response to Autoblog's questions, Ford responded via email: "We are not aware of a NHTSA investigation. We are currently reviewing the case and in the event that any action is required, we will address it promptly."
How new car shortages may impact your buying experience
Wed, 04 Sep 2013If you want further proof that the auto industry is bouncing back, look no further than the empty lots and forecourts of your local dealership. According to a story by The Wall Street Journal, continued high demand for mainstream cars is overtaxing automakers' ability to produce enough models. Several dealers interviewed for the story are reporting two-week supplies as opposed to the typical two-month allocations.
With sales expected to hit 1.4 million units when August numbers arrive shortly and incentive spending down to its lowest amount since January, these limited supplies are pushing prices even higher. For example, according to the WSJ, the average price of a Ford Fusion is up past $26,000. Unfortunately, it's difficult for manufacturers to increase production quickly. If it invests in its facilities, as many manufacturers have done, it risks wasting cash if growth suddenly slows. At the same time, the momentum gained over the past several years could be short lived if vehicle supplies continue to dwindle. "Manufacturers are in a precarious situation," notes Karl Brauer, a senior director at Kelley Blue Book.
Low interest rates and a wealth of desirable features are also allowing customers to purchase more expensive vehicles while justifying their higher overall price tags, a situation that is compounding supply shortages. Even now, during the annual end-of-summer clearance season, deals on new vehicles are remarkably difficult to come by. According to the report, the Toyota Corolla is in a self-inflicted state of shortage, as Toyota clears out inventory in anticipation of the new 2014 generation arriving in dealers. Ford's supplies should rebound as Fusion production comes on line at its Flat Rock, Michigan factory. The Chevrolet Impala, Honda Odyssey, Civic, and Accord and Subaru Forester are also facing shortages.
Ford considering return to Le Mans with new EcoBoost LMP2
Mon, 21 Jul 2014If you want to see a Ford racing prototype, you need look no further than the United SportsCar Championship, where the Blue Oval fields two Daytona Prototypes powered by an EcoBoost-branded 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. But according to the latest rumors, that may not be enough for Ford, which has as much brand to promote overseas as it does back home.
That could be why Racer magazine is reporting that Ford may be poised to return to Le Mans in the coming years. As we all know, Ford competed at Le Mans in the mid-through-late '60s, bringing home four consecutive overall wins with the legendary GT40. The new program would not, according to Racer, seek to relive those glory days, but would instead compete for class wins in the LMP2 category.
Currently, LMP2 regulations are somewhat split between the United SportsCar Championship in North America on the one hand and ACO-sanctioned series like the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship on the other, but plans are underway for the regulations to be unified in time for the 2017 season. That could be when Ford is targeting its return, allowing it to compete on both sides of the Atlantic to maximize its exposure.
