2001 Ford Super Duty, 7.3 Diesel, Auto, Ac, Cruise, 192k, F250 Work Truck, Or Pu on 2040-cars
Venango, Nebraska, United States
This auction is starting at half of the value of the reman Ford Powerstroke engine alone, so have fun. A couple of guys are looking at this as a donor for their truck, so I didn't do any of our usual pretty work to it. Careful!!! No Reserve; Anybody bids; the pickup will sell. We reserve the right to end the auction and sell to the highest bidder or to take an offer and end the auction. If you want and can afford the vehicle: thanks for your bid. Great work truck. Starts smooth and quick on all eight. Shifts correctly and solid, steers good, actually rides good. This truck is a pleasure to drive. Unit has no rust on the truck itself. Service body has a left door that is rusty. Don't know the story. That is how it is. There is also some old history inside the right rear compartment on the service body. The 7.3 is a Ford Remanufactured unit. Don't know the story on that either, but it is still shiny and it starts and runs great. Heat is hot and fast. AC is cold and holds a charge. Speedo, Tach, gauges, cruise, stereo(not a Bose), CB, and lights work. Has brake control. Fuel gauge occasionally floats around. All I have done to it mechanically was replace a bad glow plug relay so it would start right. Can park on my concrete without drooling fluids. Body is pretty straight for what it is. Some small dings, mainly down low on doors. Windshield is good. Interior is nice. Seat under the Cabelas seat cover is shot on the usual place on the left side. I put extra foam in it when I put the cover on. Sets comfy. Holds stuff in the back. Jack and spare tire tools all appear to be there. Can't find the spare though. Doors fit tight, shut right. Windows roll up easy and tight. Doesn't have strange rattles or squeaks. Doors on utility body fit good, close right. Tires are round, black, and hold air. If you are going to drive it a long ways home; I would recommend better ones. They are the 235 85 16 size on it. If you would like this as a pickup instead of a work truck, we can do that. We have a rust free pickup box, tailgate, and bumper that matches this truck in color and condition. It is available for $1,000 installed after the truck is paid for. Truck comes with clean Colorado title. Pickup from bus stop in Ogallala, Nebraska or DIA shuttle stop in Sterling, CO is $50 cash to whoever we con into making the drive.
No rush on picking the unit up. We don't charge a daily storage fee. Settle up and let us know when you are picking it up. We don't worry about it for 6 months or so. Check U-Ship for commercial delivery. Truck is approx. 19' long, 7 1/2' wide, and 6' high. These weigh in around 7000 pounds.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey
Wed, 09 Jan 2013The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.
Ford confirms 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine for 2014 Fusion
Thu, 11 Apr 2013Earlier this week, reports were swirling 'round the internet about the 2014 Ford Fusion getting a new 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. That was... half correct. Ford today confirmed that the 2014 Fusion is, in fact, getting a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost mill, but it has four cylinders, not three.
The new 1.5-liter engine will be the fifth EcoBoost powerplant from Ford Motor Company. Initially to be built at the automaker's Craiova, Romania plant, it will also be offered in the Fusion's twin, the Mondeo, in other markets. This engine will debut at the Shanghai Motor Show next month, and the 1.5-liter is of particular importance in the Chinese market - there is significant tax relief in the People's Republic for vehicles powered by engines with a capacity of 1.5 liters or less.
At a media briefing Thursday, Ford declined to divulge exact power or fuel economy numbers, though Joe Bakaj, vice president of powertrain engineering, told Autoblog that power output should be similar to that of the current 1.6-liter inline-four, and that overall efficiency will be "better than the 1.6." Our earlier report stated that the 1.5-liter four will produce 177 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque - losses of 1 hp and 7 lb-ft versus the 1.6-liter engine. Ford states that the 1.5-liter four will feature many of the same technologies used on the company's 1.0-liter EcoBoost inline-three, including an integrated exhaust manifold that recaptures much of the engine's heat.
Junkyard Gem: 1993 Mercury Topaz GS Sedan
Sat, Aug 13 2022As long as the Mercury brand existed — a period spanning the 1939 through 2011 model years — nearly every Mercury sold in the United States was more or less a redecorated Ford model. The Torino had its Montego sibling, the Crown Victoria had the Grand Marquis, the Cougar was based on everything from the Mustang to the Mondeo, and so on. Naturally, when the folks in Dearborn developed the Ford Tempo compact, a Mercury version had to be created. This was the Topaz, with the official launch of both cars taking place on the deck of the aircraft carrier often referred to as the USS Decrepit. You can't make this stuff up! The Tempo/Topaz, also known as the Tempaz, has largely faded from our collective automotive memory by now, since it broke no significant new engineering or styling ground (this story would be much different if Ford had only put the amazing straight-eight "T-Drive" Tempaz powertrain into production) and didn't have any endearing features other than being a cheap domestic competitor to the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra. Still, close to 3 million Tempazes left North American Ford and Lincoln-Mercury showrooms during the 1984-1994 period. As you'd expect, most of these disposable cars disappeared from both the street and the car graveyard long ago. It takes a very special Tempaz for me to break out my camera while I'm patrolling my local wrecking yards; generally, this means an ultra-rare all-wheel-drive version or at least a very early model in super-clean condition. Today's Junkyard Gem is neither, but I took one look at this spectacular Bordello Red crypto-velour-and-slippery-plastic interior and recognized that this was no ordinary junkyard Mercury. It appears that Mercury had dropped the idea of clever names for base-grade seat fabrics by the time of the Topaz, referring to this stuff as just "cloth" in all the brochures I could find. That's too bad, because Mercurys had cool names for upholstery (e.g., Chromatex) in the old days. The interior is in very good condition but the steering wheel shows substantial wear, so I think this is a high-mile Topaz that got meticulous care from its owner or owners. Ford used five-digit odometers on these cars until the end of production, however, so we'll never know if this reading indicates 65,404 miles or 365,404 miles. The body is very straight, but there's some nasty corrosion behind the right front wheelwell.
