This truck was purchased new in 1999 by the Town of Atlanta, Indiana. Since that time, the Utility Department have utilized this truck for plowing snow, transporting parts and supplies, and general daily transportation. This truck is far from perfect, but it's very functional. Here are a few details:
The good:
8' Western Snow Plow
-Joystick control. New pump, and solenoid. Regularly serviced. The plow was completely disassembled repainted a few years ago. Fairly new cutting edge. The trip shock absorber is missing, so the plow slams if tripped. Plow operates well overall.
Western Tailgate Salt Spreader
-A bit rusty, but worked well when we stopped using it a few years ago (we bought a new truck, equipped with a larger spreader). The Salt Spreader has been stored with cover on, in a shed, out of the weather.
Truck has many new parts:
-New spark plugs and boots (129,269mi)
-New rear shocks (126,879mi)
-New alternator (121,283mi)
-New shift linkage bushings, plunger, and tube (120,273mi)
-New blower motor, blower motor resistor, fan switch, temperature blend door actuator (119,236mi)
-New transmission filter and fluid (119,060mi)
-New starter (117,700mi)
-New heater core (116,000mi)
-New right front axle seals, axle housing, hub bearing (111,715mi)
-New front and rear brake rotors and pads, front right/left calipers, right rear caliper (110,708mi)
In addition to the above list of repairs, the truck has been regularly serviced since 2008 (incomplete/missing records pre-'08). Regular oil changes, front end lubrication, fluid checks, filter changes, etc have been performed. Full coolant flush was performed at 119,060mi. Tires are at about 40% tread. The truck includes a good matching spare tire.
There don't appear to be any leaks from the engine, transmission, differentials, cooling system, fuel system, etc. The stains on the ground in the pictures are from another piece of equipment.
The Weatherguard toolbox pictured is included with the truck. The lid of the toolbox no longer stays up on its own, due to bad/broken struts. Its also pretty rusty, particularly on the lid.
Now the bad:
-The engine uses around 1qt of oil every 1000-1500mi.
-The truck runs rough at idle, and hesitates/misfires badly under moderate acceleration. Once cruising speed is reached, the truck does pretty well.
-The engine knocks a bit.
-The exhaust manifolds leak a bit.
-The left front axle needs work (clanks when driving while engaged).
-The front end is worn. Ball joints may need to be replaced.
-The A/C system does not operate. The truck seems to be stuck in heat, because turning the temperature selector to "cold" does not seem to effect the air temperature. As stated above, the blend door actuator has been replaced. May need temperature control switch?
-The fuel gauge does not work (always reads "Full").
-The brakes work well, but squeal when used.
-The under-bed spare tire cable is broken.
-The left front wheel cover is missing.
-The headliner is falling. It's currently pinned up.
-The dome light is missing its cover, and has no bulb.
-There are cracks, scuffs, and a few holes in the dashboard.
-The exterior of the truck has dents, scratches, and rust all around. As seen in the pictures, the tailgate is badly dented, but operates correctly.
Please message if you have any questions. I have been as accurate as I can be, but I will update this listing if I remember anything else.
Local pickup only.
The 1999 Ford F-250, and any accessories attached thereon, including, but not limited to the Western Snow Plow, and Western Salt Spreader, are being sold together, AS IS. No warranties are hereby written or implied.

2015 Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival
Thu, Aug 13 2015Considered the big kick off of the major festivities surrounding Monterey Car Week, this year's Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival certainly didn't disappoint. For those unable to make it to the California coast, our own Drew Phillips was on hand to snap some of the beautiful vehicles on display for this gorgeous gallery. Held annually at the Monterey Jet Center, the event is always a feast for the eyes by collecting planes, a gang of exotic supercars, and some the top cars crossing the auction block over the coming days, like a Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda convertible. The Ford GT both new and old was a major attendee at this year's party. Among them, the Petersen Museum brought along an original racecar and a GT40 MKIII to promote an upcoming exhibit. The classics were complimented by the latest version that has continued to keep tongues wagging. The GT wasn't the only classic with a modern update there. Singer used the posh event for the North American debut of its stunning restoration of the Porsche 911 Targa. Shelby American was also at the revival for the public unveiling of the 50th Anniversary Daytona Coupe. On the more modern front, Honda was in attendance with the future NSX and one of the McLaren F1 cars that the company's engine powers. For further proof of the ritzy folks that attend this soiree, Pagani and Koenigsegg both had stands to show off their extremely quick wares.
New car market raining on convertibles' parade
Mon, 08 Jul 2013Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.
Ford readying Ranger-based Everest SUV?
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Way back in August, we showed you a Ford concept for the Australian market called the Everest. Now, we can show you that work on the new Ranger-based SUV is well under way.
At this stage, it's still quite clearly a mule (note the misalignment of the front and rear doors), wearing the Ranger's front end and the rump of Ford's overseas Territory crossover. The wheelbase is shorter than a Ranger, according to our spy photographers, which strikes us as somewhat odd for a more passenger-oriented vehicle. Disc brakes should be fitted at all four corners, while the new SUV, which will almost certainly wear the Everest name, should sport a new rear suspension.
In terms of looks, we're expecting the Everest Concept to inform the appearance of the production model. Naturally, there will also be some interior tweaks, particularly around the dashboard, which is covered in these photos.
