1999 Ford F-250 Diesel 4x4 Crew Cab diesel.  This has the 7.3 liter diesel motor in it, which is an extremely reliable, highly sought after motor.  It has 216,000 miles on it, which is not a lot for this motor and year. It has custom (Ranch Hand) bumpers on the front and rear, and it has a winch and trailer hitch receiver on the front, as well as a trailer hitch receiver on the back.  It also has a receiver in the bed of the truck for a potential fifth wheel trailer connection (I don't know what you would need to tow a fifth wheel)...see pictures.  The paint is in good overall condition; there are several small scratches and a few little dents.  The interior is in excellent condition, except for a blemish on the dashboard where somebody had glued something to the dashboard (see pictures).  Everything on this truck works very well, and it is very reliable.  The truck has only had two owners, as far as I know.  I've owned it for about a year, and I've only put about 1,000 miles on it.  It was getting around 15 MPG when I was driving it around town (almost no freeway driving for the past 1,000 miles).  The prior owner stated it was mostly used for long trips across Texas.  I just had the transmission serviced, and the torque converter was changed out.  The 4x4 and AC work very well.  The tires are in good condition, with lots of tread life remaining (at least 50-60%).  No rust...very clean. I'm not interested in trades (unless maybe you have a Toyota Highlander).  I will consider offers, but only in person, after you drive the truck.  Call, text, or email me... two8one6three5nine5one7

Ford reports 58% drop in Q2 profits on European losses

Ford Motor Company announced Wednesday that it has posted a $1 billion profit for the second quarter of 2012. That sounds like good news for the Blue Oval, until you take into account that Ford posted a $2.4 billion profit for Q2 a year ago. That is a substantial 58 percent loss.
Ford also posted $465 million in international losses, with $404 million of those losses coming directly from Europe. The automaker also increased its European loss projections to $1 billion for 2012, due in large part to the economic crisis overseas, which has resulted in increased unemployment and decreased consumer confidence.

MyFord Touch is one of the auto industry's more controversial features. The media broadly panned the infotainment system developed with Microsoft for its slow responses and reliance on voice commands to navigate its deep menus. Oh, and Ford executives weren't big fans, either. Newly revealed court documents in a California class-action lawsuit demonstrate the level of venom Ford employees, both big and small, reserved for the Blue Oval's infotainment system. An error caused Bill Ford's navigation system to crash, leaving the family scion stuck on the side of the road in an unfamiliar area. The documents, unearthed by Forbes, detail current CEO Mark Fields' aggravations with MFT, too. A mechanic emailed an image of a cracked infotainment screen on an Edge to one of Ford's top Sync engineers, Kenneth Williams, suggesting "Mark Fields may have been a little aggravated with the system." But Ford and Fields' issues are nothing compared to the woes of the engineers that had to work on MFT. In a collection of emails obtained by Forbes, one engineer called the system "a polished turd," while another simply said, "These poor customers." And after one engineer suggested using a photo of Ford's Oakville Assembly Plant – home of the Edge, Flex, Lincoln MKX, and MKT production – as a background for the system, one of his coworkers said in an email that someone should instead Photoshop the image to read "abandon hope all ye who enter here," the Detroit News reports. Another summed up the problem, saying: "Ford's quality reputation is completely on the line ... another model year with the same crap is not acceptable." MyFord Touch almost single-handedly torpedoed Ford's reputation in widely reported quality metrics, including JD Power and Consumer Reports. Ford responded with a refreshed Sync3, a wildly improved rethink of its infotainment system that is far more responsive and easier to live with every day. White House clears way for NHTSA to mandate vehicle black boxes

At present, over 90 percent of all new vehicles sold in the United States today are equipped with event data recorders, more commonly known as black boxes. If the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gets its way, that already high figure will swell to a full 100 percent in short order.
Such automotive black boxes have been in existence since the 1990s, and all current Ford, General Motors, Mazda and Toyota vehicles are so equipped. NHTSA has been attempting to make these data recorders mandatory for automakers, and according to The Detroit News, the White House Office of Management Budget has just finished reviewing the proposal, clearing the way. Now NHTSA is expected to draft new legislation to make the boxes a requirement.
One problem with current black boxes is that there's no set of standards for automakers to follow when creating what bits of data are recorded, and for how long or in what format it is stored. In other words, one automaker's box is probably not compatible with its competitors.
