Up for auction is a 1997 Ford F250 HD with a 7.5L 460 cu in gas engine and automatic transmission with overdrive. The truck is a retired city parks and recreation vehicle. The low miles represented are accurate. The vehicle was minimally used to transport trailers with livestock and utility vehicles during city events.

For the year, the vehicle is in very good condition. The interior is clean with a vinyl bench seat and vinyl floor mat. The dash is crack free. The instrument cluster works as expected and an AM/FM Stereo with door speakers functions normally.

The engine has ample power for pulling larger trailers and the transmission shifts normally.

The body is in good condition overall. Typical scratches and dents in the bed and some on the body. A 5th wheel receiver hitch with removable ball is securely mounted in the bed, with a standard rear mount receiver hitch below the factory bumper. A 8-plug and 4-plug trailer wire harness is mounted in the factory bumper to the right of the license plate.

The roof mounted amber light bar is operational and mounted to the factory drip rails. Easy to remove if you don't want it.

Only reason for selling is I inherited a newer year Dodge truck last week and I don't need 2 trucks.

Tags good through 12/2013, Registration good through 07/2014

Dual 18 gallon fuel tanks with dash mounted switch provide plenty of fuel capacity for longer trips.

Tires have about 40% tread remaining. Spare tire is in tact under bed.

Actual mileage may be slightly higher at time of purchase as the truck is used regularly for errands.

KBB value when correct options are selected (eBay defaults are wrong) is $7,511 in Excellent condition, $6386 in Fair condition. Truck is in good condition and priced below Fair condition at the starting price.

Ford Focus Electric and ST recalled over lighting issue

Mon, 12 Aug 2013

Ford is recalling 6,308 units of the 2012 and 2013 Focus Electric and 2013 Focus ST that were fitted with HID headlights because a "wiring incompatibility" could keep the front side marker lights from working. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall should begin in the middle of this month, after which owners can take their cars to dealers to have the wiring assembly repaired free of charge.
You can find more information in the NHTSA bulletin posted below.

Ford sued over alleged 3.5-liter EcoBoost defects

Thu, 16 May 2013

Three Ford owners from Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the automaker over defects that they allege exist within the company's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Automotive News reports that the lawsuit claims the engine "contained serious latent design, manufacturing, or assembly defects." Those defects, the suit claims, cause the vehicle to shake, misfire and lose power quickly.
Two of the plaintiffs, a married couple, own a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, and allege they experienced a loss of power and stalling, while the third, an F-150 owner, claims he lost power while accelerating. In addition to the Taurus SHO and F-150, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available in the Ford Flex, Explorer Sport and Lincoln MKT and MKS. Other three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines are not included in the suit. There have been no recalls associated with 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently not investigating the matter.
The plaintiffs, however, claim Ford has known about the problem, citing several technical service bulletins issued to dealers of the F-150 that suggest possible fixes. Ford had no comment for Automotive News, saying that it's yet to review the lawsuit, which was filed last Friday in Columbus, OH.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has a bit of a dyno issue

Tue, 28 May 2013

We're of the mind that each and every dyno should come with Murphy's Law painted in big, visible letters down the side. For every ten successful dyno runs out there, it seems there's one where events to horribly wrong. Take, for example, the video below. The clip shows what happens when a Ford Shelby GT500 and a mobile dyno have a bit of a disagreement at the Performance Expo 24 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. We won't spoil the results for you, but we will say there's some substantial carnage involved.
It's unclear just how much damage ensues from the dust up or whether anyone was harmed in the incident, but from the looks of things, everyone made it out without serious injury. If only we could say the same for the machines involved. Check out the video below.
