Up for sale is this 1978 Ford F-250 pickup with a regular cab & 8' long fleetside bed. I have owned this truck since 2003 and I have kept up on the maintenance, this is a good running & driving work truck which I would not hesitate to drive cross-country in if necessary (her name is "Blondie"). I have put between 1000-2000 miles a year on it since I have owned it. Stated mileage is whats on the odometer: I have no way of knowing how accurate this is but the speedo has always been operational as long as I have owned it. This truck has a 4-spd standard transmission on the floor (it was originally an automatic) and a strong running 351M 8-cyl gas engine. This originally had factory AC but all that has been removed. It has two fuel tanks but only the front tank is hooked up, the back tank has been disconnected for as long as I have owned it (and the selector switch went with all the AC stuff when it was removed). Tires (LT235/85R16) have a lot of treadwear, more so on the front as I swapped out the backs for snow tires(not included) each winter. Rims are white painted steel cookie-cutter types. This has a 2" hitch ball on the rear bumper and is wired with a 7-pole electrical connector I hooked up for towing a small camp trailer. The passenger side on the bed has a factory in-bed storage compartment. Also there is a plastic side tool box installed in the bed. The back window has shaded window film installed. The entire exhaust system was replaced in 2005 (manifolds, single Thrush straight tube muffler, front & tail pipe.) I replaced the clutch, pressure plate & throw-out bearing in 2006. I have replaced the intake manifold gasket, the carburetor (this is a rebuilt 2-bbl carb with manual choke from a 1969 F-250), the brake shoes & pads, heater core, driver's side window regulator, sunvisors (black vinyl), Door panels (black plastic aftermarket), rear axle seal, differential seal, ignition coil, battery, tune-up parts (plugs, cap, rotor, wires), radiator hoses, belts and of course wipers, oil & filters as needed. The air filter is a std. 14" round filter in a chrome Edelbrock frame. Last year I replaced the tie rods, steering linkage links & link sleeve, and front axle bumpers as well as all four shocks. So not only have I kept it maintained, but I have restored some things here and there over the past 10 years whenever the mood hit to spend some money on her. This truck has quite a few cosmetic problems which I will now mention: Lots of small dings and scratches especially on the truck bed, but there is an area on the hinge side of the drivers door that is wrinkled (the bottom hinge failed and was eventually replaced but the damage was done) and the tailgate has a dent on top from the truck rolling backwards and striking a pole. The windshield has a crack on the drivers side coming up from the bottom about 12" and a chip above that which is starting to spread. The bottom seat vinyl is cracked and tore up pretty good & I have a cloth seat cover over it (the seat back is from a different seat and is in great condition). The rubber floor mat is cracked up from heat because there is no insulation on the floor (so it's a little louder inside than it should be). The vinyl dash cap is missing so the dash is just bare brown painted steel. This truck has personalized Veteran's plates which will not be included, they have sentimental value and are transferable to my other vehicles. If you are taking this out of state this won't matter as you'll need new plates anyway. Oregon buyers should figure new plates into the cost before bidding. If you plan on driving this away you will just need to pick up a temporary/ 30-day tag for the window from the DMV. I've taken a variety of pictures so please look them over closely. Feel free to ask questions, I will respond as soon as I can.

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota
Mon, 23 Jun 2014The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands
Roush getting back into sport compact business with Focus ST mods [w/video]
Wed, 29 May 2013Roush Performance offers a whole raft of parts for folks looking to tune their Ford Mustang and F-150 models, and now Focus owners can start getting in on the hotted-up action, too. Owners of the 2012-13 Focus and 2013 Focus ST can now get a Roush cold-air intake system, and ST owners can also opt for a high-performance cat-back exhaust.
Although all of these components are now available for order, the parts will ship sometime in July; no word yet on pricing. Down the road, Roush will also offer styling upgrades for the Focus as well as performance tuning upgrades such as engine controller, suspension, wheels and tires. Scroll down for a quick video of what the Focus ST exhaust sounds like, as well as a Roush press release.
Time to catch up with Jay Leno's Garage, including his Lamborghini Espada restoration
Tue, Dec 23 2014If you're already jealous of the time, effort and money that Jay Leno can devote to his massive car collection, prepare to get a little greener with envy with this latest video from Jay Leno's Garage. Instead of the usual format of discussing a model for about ten minutes and then taking it out for a test drive, this week Leno gives viewers on a tour of over a dozen projects concurrently happening in his stable. The breadth of the vehicles shown and the things being done to them run the entire span of the automotive hobby. At the same time, Jay's shop is working on just a simple restoration of his 1969 Lamborghini Espada (pictured), and at the other side of the building, the team is rebuilding a wood-bodied 1914 Detroit Electric from scratch. He eventually plans to slot a more modern electric drivetrain into it. If bikes are more your interest, there's a freshly completed Brough Superior just waiting for a ride, and if American models are your thing, a Ford Bronco is getting a Coyote V8 installed into it. You have some very specific tastes if you can't watch this clip and start wishing at least one of these vehicles could be in your own garage. Other than the personal projects his mechanics are working on in the shop, Jay gets to have them all, plus plenty more.
