1970 Ranger XLT. I am 2nd Owner of this truck. It was bought and used as a furniture delivery truck in western mountains of Virginia. It was used local and driven very little over the years. It was parked in 1997 and stored until 2012 when I purchased it. The truck is fully documented with 46,100 original miles. I have almost every year that it was inspected and mileage was documented each time. Also, the 1997 inspection sticker is still on the windshield. I have all the literature with the truck, power train warranty card, owners manual, inspections checklist, maintenance records, and factory truck literature.

The truck was thankfully stored in a garage from 1997 to 2012 or it would be junk now. Once I got the truck home, I installed a new fuel cell, did a complete tune up, and it fired right up. I put all new wheel bearings and seals in each of the four axles, new power break master cylinder, all new breaks (power drum) in each wheel. The tires had no dry rot, but had flat spots, so I installed 4 new Cooper Discoverer (M&S - Mud and Snow) 245/75R/16 Tires. After that, I only had to change a few light bulbs. The truck is tight, drives straight, stops straight, and is ready now to drive daily. I drive the truck local each week. This is a truck that would be perfect to drive as is or fully restore to make show quality due to how original it is with low miles.

Options: this is a behind the seat fuel tank delete! The truck has the factory fuel cell under the bed with factory tool box behind the seat. I have owned many of these trucks and this is the first one I have ever seen with this option. Manuel 3 speed w/ Dana 60 rear end powered by 360V8. Truck drives and shifts great. Truck has factory clearance lights on the top (they work), rear cargo light (works), back up lights work (almost never the case). Even the interior lights work (even when both doors open) so it has been well preserved. The truck does have surface rust but now major rot. The only exception is the two front cab mounts need to be replaced. They cost about 40.00 each and labor would be about 150.00 to install so that could be fixed for about 230.00 to 250.00. No modifications have been made to this truck as it has same 4 hub caps as it came with, original paint, carpet, motor, trans, and rear end. Also, when you look at 1967 - 1972 (same body as this truck) on e-bay motors, you never find more that about 10 or less of this at one time. Also, all of these are for sale on the West coast, so finding them on the East coast (in the South) is particularly hard to find these days.

Truck has a very fair and firm reserve price. If you want to contact me (if you are a serious buyer) to set up a time to inspect/drive truck, then please feel free to call. I hate to sell this truck, but I am almost finished with a 1966 C-10 and I want to finish. This is not a must-sell situation, so if reserve is not met, I have no issues with keeping.

Thanks for looking at my 1970 Ranger XLT F-250. Contact Mark with questions at (828) 755-4642.

Ford Escort is ready to focus on the Chinese market

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Ford officially revived the Escort name in China, showing of the new, four-door compact at the Beijing Motor Show. Painted in a stylish brown-bronze, the new sedan wears a number of global Ford styling cues while sharing its platform with the Ford Focus.
Power for the new model comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder, although Ford doesn't specify just how much power is on offer, simply saying that the fuel economy of the new mill will be "outstanding." It's unclear what transmission will be distributing the engine's power, although based on the images we've seen, the Escort will definitely offer a two-pedal setup.
The layout of the cabin is fairly clean, although as we mentioned in our initial post on the new Escort, it's a decidedly sparser environment than we've grown use to in US-spec Fords of late. If anything, it's like a weird blend of current Ford switchgear with an overall look that reminds us of older Ford layouts. Still, it looks like a comfortable way of moving five people about without too much fuss. There's ample space both front and rear, and a rather spacious trunk.

Ford settles class action suit over defective Navistar diesel engines

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

The 2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty (shown above) introduced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel supplied by Navistar, and while that is an engine Ford would love to forget, it's now one step closer to putting that particular problem behind it. Automotive News is reporting that Ford has settled a class-action lawsuit brought on by problems with this engine that started right out of the gate and ultimately broke up the 30-year relationship between Ford and Navistar.
Owners and lessees of 2003-2007 Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans equipped with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke are eligible for deductible reimbursements of between $50 and $200 from the original five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, while Ford is paying out as much as $825 for out-of-warranty engine repairs. These repairs may include the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, EGR valve, oil cooler, fuel injectors and turbocharger, but are only covered if the components failed before six years or 135,000 miles.
In total, Ford has agreed to pay about 50 percent of the value of the repairs and deductibles paid by its customers who submit a claim before the end of this year, and $150,000 is going to the 16 named plaintiffs in the case; Navistar was not included in the lawsuit.

Ford Australia reveals updated Territory, Falcon via Twitter

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Ford may have tied together much of its global lineup under the One Ford campaign, but one market where it still offers unique products is Australia. That will soon draw to a close as well, but before it does, the Blue Oval's Aussie operations are rolling out refreshed versions of its two unique products. For the moment, Ford isn't revealing much in the way of powertrain details, but it has shown off a couple of snaps of the revised products on its in-market Twitter feed.
First up is the new Territory. The SUV is neither based on a front-drive crossover platform nor on a truck frame, but shares its rear-drive underpinnings with the Falcon, taking it a step beyond the Falcon wagon alongside which it sits in Ford's Aussie range. Like the outgoing third-generation SZ Territory, the facelifted version is dominated by a narrow grille and larger front air dam, but further punctuates its big-chinned look with more rugged lower cladding and other metallic inserts that bring its look up to date.
And there's the Falcon, which Ford revealed in XR8 trim just last week and is now presenting in G6E spec. If the XR8 is the performance model, the G6E is the luxury version, swapping in more refined trim like a chrome-slat grille (instead of a black honeycomb), chrome foglamp surrounds, less-aggressive multi-spoke wheels (instead of five-spokes) and a flatter hood (instead of a power bulge). Otherwise, it looks essentially the same as the one we saw last week, its facelift bringing it more in line with the smaller, front-drive Mondeo (which we know here as the Fusion) and other members of the Ford family.
