1952 Ford F2 3/4 ton truck.  Outstanding old truck!!!!!!!  Good original Ford V8 flathead engine that runs good. Has a 4 speed tranny. Doesn't get much better than this if your looking for a restoration project that is 60+ yrs. old.  A truck that is 90% rust free ( see pictures showing rust ) and super straight for its age. Needs full restoration but is an outstanding restoration project because it is all there and complete except wiper arms and hood moldings and very minimal rust. Started the engine for the first time in 34 years on 7/10/13 with hot battery, new points, condenser and fresh fuel. Oil was clean and full. Brought the engine up to operating temperature and engine sounds good and idles smooth. Did not drive it due to brakes being down after setting for many years. The odometer shows 55,000 miles and I believe that to be correct due to the overall condition of this truck and the minimal wear on such things as the brake pedal, gas pedal, steering wheel and other things.  I CAN NOT VERIFY THE MILES AND IT IS EXEMPT FROM MILEAGE DUE TO AGE.  NO TITLE, BILL OF SALE ONLY. The cab corners and floor boards are solid with the exception of the bullet holes in right hand floor board ( see pictures ) when I purchased this truck there were at least 50 spent shotgun shells on the floor board. Evidently this truck was used as a hunting vehicle as the holes in the right hand floor board are what looks to be from a shotgun. There is no rust in the floor boards. The running boards are rust free but have some damage as shown in pictures but are workable. Cab and all four fenders are in very good condition except for the small amount of rust disclosed in pictures. The box is in super nice condition for its age and bed side panels and front gate are in amazing condition for its age. Tail gate is good but has a small area of rust but very restorable. All glass is intact but in need of replacement. All original dash knobs, steering wheel, instruments, seat with original seat material and door hardware.  I've restored many vehicles as a hobbyist in my 40 yrs of collecting old cars and trucks and strongly believe you are always money ahead purchasing a good straight and complete vehicle to begin your project with minimal rust or no rust.  A  complete and good running Ford V8 flat head engine alone is worth $1,500.00 to $2,000.00, not including the truck body.

Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma top ASG list of most eco-friendly trucks

Mon, Mar 31 2014

No one's going to confuse the massively popular Ford F-150 pickup truck with a green vehicle, but at least it performs well in an environmental sense when compared to its brethren. The Automotive Science Group (ASG) took on the odd (to us, at least) task of measuring which pickup trucks are friendliest to the environment and found that the big seller in the Blue Oval's flagship F-series came up big, while the Toyota Tacoma came up, well, slightly smaller. That's a good thing. Among the 245 light-duty trucks that ASG studied, the 3.7-liter V6-powered F-150 won ASG's award for full-size trucks for both regular and crew cabs. Meanwhile, the 2.7-liter Toyota Tacoma, with its fuel-economy rating of 23 miles per gallon combined, had smallest overall life-cycle carbon footprint and won ASG's two mid-sized categories. Finally, the Chevrolet Silverado won best all-around performance in the full-size extended-cab category. The ASG factored in eco-friendliness, price and social performance (which is measured by, "considering the rights of those charged with vehicle manufacture and assembly") to come up with its findings. Sales of Ford's F-Series trucks rose 8.4 percent last year to 74,592 units and accounted for more than a third of the total 2013 sales of Ford and its Lincoln unit. Check out the ASG's press release below. Truck Buyers Faced With "Eco" Options Galore Which 2014 full-size trucks warrant eco claims? 25 March 2014 [Santa Rosa, CA] – With a myriad of eco-branded trucks hitting the North American marketplace in 2014 – from Ford's EcoBoost and GM's EcoTec3 to Ram's latest addition, the EcoDiesel – the Automotive Science Group (ASG) was prompted to offer an objective, scientifically-based assessment to determine exactly which 2014 trucks actually earn their "eco" badge. According to ASG and the principles of ecological economics, a vehicle's eco-rating must be multi-faceted to include both environmental and economic considerations, and so the Group's proprietary rating platform – the Automotive Performance Index – does just that. Using a unique combination of vehicle data inputs that include conventional specifications as well as social, environmental and economic performance indicators, ASG's vehicle assessments empower consumers to make choices based on one's personal principles and financial requisites.

Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015

Tue, Feb 11 2014

Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper. For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011. The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors. While the adoption of SAE J2807 will be helpful for light-duty customers, those interested in bigger trucks will still be left with differing standards. There is no sign of the new tow standards being adopted for the heavy-duty market.

Ford profits soar as problems mount

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Ford is doing well. It can't make enough examples of its new Fusion, it can barely make enough of the aging F-150, it's getting good brand rankings, people like its turnaround story, it's selling oodles of product and its quarterly profit numbers end in the word "billion." As other high-flying examples have demonstrated over the past few years, though, big numbers can come with problems that aren't exactly small.
Automotive News has published a good "nutshell" report of Ford's progress and problems. The Dearborn automaker's optimistic "general label rule" determination of gas mileage for the C-Max Hybrid has led to lawsuits, hybrid software updates, a downward revision of C-Max fuel economy and millions in rebates. AN notes the C-Max was the "worst-scoring model in this year's J.D. Power Initial Quality Study," but Ford will probably be happy that it managed not to be mentioned further in the study's results after last year's mediocre showing. Its MyTouch and SYNC systems, the bugbears sabotaging Ford's J.D. Power results, have also led to lawsuits, software updates, more software updates and a center console rethink. On top of that, the 1.6-liter EcoBoost in the 2013 Ford Escape that Ford called a "hero" was soon catching fire for three different reasons. And let's not even get into the troubled launch of the Lincoln MKZ.
The Automotive News piece notes that industry observers have been surprised at Ford's stumbles because everything has been looking so good. Nevertheless, there is still the issue of those billions in profits - the company is doing plenty of things, plural, right. Ford says it is tackling its problems, hiring engineers and instituting new quality control processes as part of its effort to find solutions. The test will be to see if in a year from now we begin the discussion of these issues with "Remember when Ford...", or "Problems continue at The Blue Oval."
