Everything, from the paint to the interior, show almost now signs of wear and the vehicle still retains its new-car smell. In addition to the stock equipment, I have also equipped an AFE cold-air intake system (non-oiled) and a new 3.5 stainless-steel exhaust system to the vehicle. This not only increases horsepower, but makes the truck sound amazing. If I could attach an audio file for you to listen to this monster, I would - (if youre interested in the truck, send me an email and Ill send you an audio file of the trucks exhaust - it sounds really cool.) Additionally, the charge pipe has been upgraded to a powder-coated aluminum system over the stock plastic charge pipe. The bed of the truck has an installed Bakflip G2 Tonneau cover, which will keep the bed protected from the elements and increase fuel efficiency. The tires are Pirelli Scorpion performance tires that are specifically built for this version of the FX4. Included with this package is a tuning system that will allow you to change between a few presets - like a fuel efficiency or performance tune - that will allow you to customize your driving experience. With the MSRP of this truck being over $55,000 and with just over $2,500 in after-market upgrades, getting into this practically brand-new truck without having to pay a new car price is a great deal! Ford sells 7-millionth Explorer in America
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Say what you will about the evolution of the Ford Explorer, from roofed Ranger to body-on-frame sport utility vehicle to unibody crossover - the bottom line is that it's been a tremendously successful model for Ford. In fact, the Blue Oval automaker has sold seven million Explorer models in the United States alone.
The milestone, marked nearly a quarter-century after the introduction of the original in 1990, comes on the eve of the introduction of a new Explorer at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. We don't yet know how the new Explorer will shape up, but we're mere days away from finding out.
Now heading into its sixth generation, the Explorer has formed the basis of Ford's utility lineup for over two decades. The Explorer landed on the market right around the time that the Bronco was trailing off, predating the company's expansion into larger SUVs like the Expedition and Excursion and crossovers like the Escape, Edge and Flex.

Spy shooter claims proof of upcoming aluminum Ford F-Series Super Duty
Thu, 26 Jun 2014Ford has already confirmed that the 2015 F-150 (pictured above) was just the beginning for its more extensive use of aluminum. CEO Alan Mulally said it himself during the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. We've even already seen the future Raptor testing with an aluminum body. But a recent discovery from an intrepid spy photographer might indicate that the lightweight metal is coming to the Blue Oval's Super Duty pickups in their upcoming generation, as well.
According to Automotive News, a spy shooter in Colorado spotted a prototype for the next-gen F-350 testing. He happened to have a magnet on hand and got close enough to check the truck out. When he held it up to the metal in the bed, it didn't stick, which signaled to him a switch from steel to aluminum.
Obviously, this claim raises some questions. Given that it was a test vehicle, one possibility is that the Blue Oval is just evaluating the feasibility of switching to aluminum for the Super Duty trucks, not necessarily committed to it yet. Ford has been testing it quite exhaustively, after all. In fact, much of the rest of the truck in question was covered in camouflage, so it's possible that the magnet failed to work along the rest of the body not because it was aluminum, but because it wasn't powerful enough to get through the disguising material. Thus, the lightweight metal's use could be far less substantial than on the new F-150. Still, it was a clever idea for the cameraman to check things out and might have given us the first hint about brand's next heavy-duty models.
