If you like Ford trucks from 73-79 you must read this! This truck was purchased new at Grappone ford in concord NH, It then spent most of its life between Sanborton and Franklin NH where It was maintained unbelievably well for a New England truck. It was Purchased a few yearz ago and brought up to gouldsboro Maine with 38,000 original miles, and original 1978 paint! Shortly after that the engine had oil pressure issues, it was pulled and replaced with a mildly built up 400 (much more power than the stock engine, nothing crazy but very nice ) Engine upgrades include Holley 4bbl, aluminum intake, headers, Dynomax exhaust that has a nice aggressive tone. Heavy Duty full polished aluminum radiator. All work was done right and very sanitary not a backyard job. I do not know all the interior details of whats actually been done for specific internal upgrades in the engine but I can connect the buyer with the previous owner for details. He also has the original engine from the truck fully rebuilt and for sale if you were interested in putting the numbers matching engine back in the truck. At this point the engine has aprox 2000-3000 miles on it. I bought the truck a year ago with 40K it now has 41K It is not driven at all from the first time they salt the roads till all salt is gone in the spring.
As for the body, it is not perfect but it is about 97% original paint! the only area that has been touched is the very lower part were some undercoating overspray was removed while the chassis was getting cleaned and painted. Same deal as the engine work, all the chassis work was done right & neatly. The frame is in excelent shape, painted with no rust scale or rot. the inside of the bed is so solid that when it rains it fills with water and stays full till I move it to a hill to let it drain out the rear. The only rust on this truck is a couple very small pinholes an the very bottom of the quarter panel, behind the rear wheel (see photo) and a small spot inside the bed on the top of the wheel house (see photo) The truck should be painted but I hate to touch a truck this original and this clean. and I think its better to buy it this way so you can see how honest and true the truck is as opposed to a fresh shiny paint job that you really dont know whats underneith. As you can see in the photos the truck polishes up nice as it sits and is more than presentable.(except for the roof where the paint is worn to the primer) Infact it gets compliments and "thumbs up's" constantly. All chrome and stainless trim is present and in good shape. When I drove up to Maine to look at this truck it was really a lot more than I wanted to spend on a truck but after my test drive I said "I need that truck" It is a tight driving 78 4x4 that has no sqeaks and no rattles! I've had a lot of 77-79 ford trucks and none were this solid and quiet, It feels like you would expect it felt around 1979.
Interior is the only area that I have touched since owning this truck, it had just a rubber floor mat and a ripped and brittle seat. I removed the mat, checked the cab floors...still painted and NO RUST! looked like brand new. I added both heat and sound insulation under a brand new red carpet even found the correct factory chrome shifter bezels for the carpet around the shifters, as well as fresh upholstery on the seat and a sliding rear window. All this makes driving this truck way more comfortable. The original AM radio is still in the dash as well as the aftermarket 70's vintage FM converter under the dash. they do not work, im told they did till right before I purchased the truck but I never got around to putting a more modern cd/receiver in but do have the underdash kit fir it. The red tint on the windows(film type) and the GAS MONKEY decals can be easily removed if desired . Rims and tires are like new, infact they were new when I bought it,(31x10.5 all terrain) not to fond of the black rims I was going to go with vintage kidney bean aluminum slots to offset all the black. I'm really not to happy about selling the truck, mechanicly it needs nothing, body wise it just needs fresh paint. the truck is turn key and go, and has been since I've had it. But this is vehicle #5 for me, I hardly have time to drive & enjoy the truck . Too many projects and a weak furnace have put this up for sale :( This truck is FAST & LOUD and deserves to be kept in original looking condition . I also do have everything to swich over to the 77 style two piece grille which I think is much nicer looking. CUSTOM PUSHBAR handmade not a cheesy for looks only speed shop piece this is rock solid steel.
Check out the pictures, come check the truck in person or have someone else come check it . I dont think you'll be disapointed. Ask any questions I'm happy to answer them or get pictures of a certain area of interest. In return I just ask that you make sure you have the funds available and can follow my deposit/payment requirements.
*will sell to anyone anywhere but buyer is responsible for any and all shipping arangements, scheduling and payments. I will assist in loading and have availability to an easily accessable parking lot.
* Deposit and balance must be in my hand in cash form before releasing the truck.
$$$ A NON REFUNDABLE deposit of $500. must be paid threw paypal within 24 hours of the auction closing. absolutly NO EXCEPTIONS no more... no less The balance must be paid before picking up the truck and must be cash. or certified cashiers check which must be cleared and cashed before the truck will be released. I WILL NOT ACCEPT THE BALANCE THREW PAYPAL just the deposit. Payment transactions must be complete and truck picked up within 7 days of auction end unless other arrangements are made prior.
ANY VEHICLE INSPECTIONS ARE TO BE DONE BEFORE BIDDING PLEASE.
They dont make trucks like this anymore, If you grew up with these as I did you will love this truck! Nothing like an old school ford 4x4 with a 4 speed. I have the original 1978 title for the truck showing every owner. but will be sold on a bill of sale with a copy of my current registration which should be all you need to register and or title it in your state. but Rhode Island for some reason will not issue a title on vehicles over 11 yearz old Even though I requested one and offered to pay, they dont do it.

Lincoln MKC will be renamed the Corsair in 2021, probably
Mon, Jun 18 2018Lincoln will be renaming its MKC crossover, calling it the Corsair instead. Automotive News is reporting that the recently trademarked, yet storied Ford model name Corsair will be affixed on the 2021 model year crossover. The report says Ford has already told its U.S. dealers about the name at an Orlando meeting last month. Ford has a long history with the Corsair nameplate in the States and abroad: Most recently, it has been in use in Australia in the early 1990s, in the UK in the 1960s, and before that Ford offered an Edsel Corsair in the late 1950s. Even if an Edsel connection might not be the best possible thing for a Ford product, let alone a Lincoln, it might serve the crossover well as Ford moves to ditch the MK naming convention it's used for Lincoln for the past decade. Still, the manufacturer is said to have cautioned dealers it might opt out of using the Corsair name before production time. At the same meeting, Ford reportedly showed the next-generation Escape, the Explorer, a battery electric crossover dubbed the Mach 1, a yet-unnamed small SUV (which might be the Bronco) , and a new Lincoln Continental complete with suicide doors. The MKC will still receive a refresh for next year, retaining its letters-name for a couple of years before the bigger redesign for 2021. Currently, the MKC is the strongest-selling Lincoln product in China, and it brings in numerous new Lincoln customers there. In the U.S. it's outsold by the MKX crossover and is neck-and-neck with the MKZ sedan.

Autoblog Podcast #327:
The 1965 Ford Mustang could have looked a lot different
Fri, May 8 2020The 1965 Ford Mustang is unquestionably an automotive design icon, and nearly every generation of Mustang has some connection to that original car. Because it's such a universally-known vehicle, we were amazed to see all the different designs that were being considered. Head of Ford's archives Ted Ryan recently shared photos of design proposals for the original Mustang on Twitter that he and Jamie Myler found, and we reached out to them to find out more. As Ryan initially noted, the photos were taken on August 19, 1962, and they are proposals for the Ford Mustang. Apparently Ford had committed to doing a Falcon-based youth-oriented car at this point, and it did have plans to launch the car in 1964 for the 1965 model year. But after having little success with early design proposals, the company asked all of its design studios — the Advanced Studio, Lincoln-Mercury Studio and Ford Studio — to submit proposals. With only about two years before the planned launch, Ford was understandably short on time, and it's believed that the studios only had a month to create and present these designs. Lincoln-Mercury design proposal View 8 Photos The majority of the designs, a total of five, came from the Advanced Studio, and part of this was because they already had a couple of concept designs in reserve it could present. Two other models representing three design possibilities came from Lincoln-Mercury, and just one model with two options came from Ford. The Advanced Studio proposals are shown in the gallery at the very top of this article, and the Lincoln-Mercury and Ford proposals are in the gallery directly above this paragraph. The Advanced Studio's most radical design is the one that was clearly related to the Mustang I concept that would be shown later that year with huge wraparound rear glass, turbine-inspired bumpers and enormous side scoops. The other proposals from the studio were more conservative, featuring simple lines, grilles reminiscent of the Falcon, and one even borrowing the jet-thruster-style taillights made famous on the Thunderbird. Lincoln-Mercury had some impressively bold designs, particularly its fastback that had buttresses to extend the shape all the way to the tail. This car had two different side trim possibilities. The other Lincoln-Mercury design was toned down a bit, but had two interesting possibilities for side detailing, as well as some crisp, low-profile tail fins.
