1991 Ford F-150 Xl Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
Fort Worth, Texas, United States
Up for sale is my 1991 Ford F150. I have had the truck about a year now but I recently moved and need some cash for other projects. I’ve been daily driving it the last 7 months and it has ran great. It is a 91 model so it has some issues so I will just break it down list style: The Good: · Tranny was rebuilt around 5,000 miles ago · Rear end was rebuilt with 3.73 ford racing gears about 8,000 miles ago · New intake manifold and valve cover gaskets · New Plugs · New Distributor · New throttle position sensor · New pressure side AC line · New Brakes and good tires · New thermostat housing gasket and thermostat · New spray in bed liner The Bad · Truck has unknown miles (I replaced the instrument cluster with a better condition one at 97,000) · The button for the driver side door lock is temperamental. Sometimes it works instantly, sometimes you have to push it a few times or wiggle it a bit. The keyless entry does work however. · The truck has dumps on it (the exhaust) and will not pass an inspection in Tarrant County Texas. · It is NOT in immaculate condition. It is a 23 year old truck that has been maintained but is by no means show quality. · It has a slow AC leak somewhere that I have not taken the time to find. It held a charge through the entire summer and the AC worked fine but we had a warm day a few weeks ago and it wasn’t blowing that cold. The compressor still kicks in fine and after I added some Freon it was cold, but it does drain out slowly. All in all it is a good truck that runs strong but does need some TLC. I have been using the truck as my daily drive but I’m only 9 miles from my job so I don’t know how it would fair on a long road trip so shipping may be in order. I do reserve the right to end this auction early as the truck is being sold locally. Please feel free to ask any questions or request any pictures or videos.

Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]
Mon, 29 Oct 2012It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.
2015 Ford Mustang GT road test ride-along
Wed, 24 Sep 2014You've no doubt already pored over our first drive of the 2015 Ford Mustang, where author Jonathon Ramsey proclaimed that "this new car shames the old, redefines the model and gallops far ahead of anything else in the segment." And following Ramsey's first stint behind the wheel of Ford's new coupe, we sent him back out with another 'Stang to capture some of these same impressions over a backdrop of the car moving quickly along gorgeous California canyon roads.
But this also gave our author and editors time to read through the hundreds of comments left on that original Mustang review. You readers are indeed a vocal bunch, and one particular comment about how the automotive media is so willing to bash an outgoing car as soon as the new one arrives really caught our attention. In this video, Ramsey stands by his written text, saying the new Mustang is "massively better than the one it replaces," and in doing so, addresses your comments while providing more insight into just how good the Ford truly is.
We won't spoil the rest for you. Check out the feature video above, and as always, leave us your thoughts in the Comments section below.
Ford Explorer, Expedition next to go aluminum?
Sun, 13 Apr 2014Ford made some serious waves when it unveiled the latest F-150. Instead of making its bodywork out of steel, like just about every other truck on the market, Ford went with aluminum. And you can bet the F-150 won't be the last Ford model to go with the lightweight alloy construction, either.
Our compatriots at Edmunds report that Dearborn is considering replacing two of its most popular SUVs with aluminum versions. One candidate is the Expedition, which would make sense considering that the current model (like the two preceding generations and the fullsize Bronco before it) is based on the F-150's underpinnings. Another is the Explorer, which was traditionally based on the Ranger pickup but went with a car-like unibody chassis in its current iteration. If the Explorer does go the way of aluminum, don't expect it to be a part of its very next update, which is likely due too soon for such major changes.
It would stand to reason that, if the Expedition were to go aluminum, so would the next-generation Lincoln Navigator. Ditto the MKT together with the Explorer. But those aren't likely to be the only models in contention for aluminum construction. Like any other automaker, Ford is under pressure to steadily reduce its carbon emissions and improve its fuel economy figures, prompting it to look at a whole range of measures - including more efficient engines, lower rolling-resistance tires, active aerodynamics and lightweight construction. Expect aluminum to play a big part in that equation moving forward.
