Vintage 1967 F-100 Shortbed All Original! Including Paint! No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Cuthbert, Georgia, United States
1967 F-100 Farm find, the original owner passed away in the early 80's and the family chained up the hood and it was not driven again. The son of the late owner said that the truck ran fine at the time it was parked and was used sparingly up until then. The truck is very solid and straight. This is the original paint there are no signs of bodywork. Most of the rust is on the surface, the bed does have a couple of places that it is rusted through because leaves and water were allowed to accumulate over the years. The truck has been in South Georgia it's whole life so it has never been exposed to salt on the roads or in the air.
They never intended to sell the truck until it was slightly damaged by a falling branch. The front windshield was broken and part of the driver's side windshield pillar was bent, the cowling and part of the hood. The back window popped out and broke. This is the original long block 240 which ran fine until the owner passed. After researching this engine on sites such at youtube I found that the 1967 240/300 C.I. is quite rare due to the crankshaft combined with the 7 mains and short stroke pistons. This engine is also known to Drag racers at the Torque Monster. Capable of producing 700 hp at 7000 rpm. The 300 C.I. is merely a 240 with a 2 barrel carburetor . I dropped a fresh battery into the engine it did not turn over, removed the starter and the Bendix is corroded in place. The oil in the engine is surprisingly clean. The radiator is still full of anti-freeze. I removed the valve cover, the push rods and rockers were clean with no build up as seen in one of the pictures. I did get some of the lights working. Have original key and bill of sale for original owners family. There is nothing wrong or misleading about this truck we have just been very unlucky with buyers! This has "sold" twice before but the buyers were not serious! Then a 3rd time the buyer had a medical problem come up that made payment impossible Please be sure really want this great truck and can pay for it! I would love for you to have it, and I can keep it here until you can pick it up. but PLEASE be prepared to pay for it within 5 days of purchase and make a $500 deposit within 48 hours! Thanks! Happy Bidding! On Mar-31-14 at 08:37:51 PDT, seller added the following information: I now have a State of Georgia Department of Revenue Motor Division Certification of Inspection by Georgia Law Enforcement. Inspection of VIN and ownership. |

Our love of SUVs is killing people in the streets
Tue, Jul 17 2018Americans are fond of supersized fast-food meals and colossal convenience-store fountain drinks, even though they're clearly bad for our health and U.S. adults keep getting fatter. We also like large vehicles, and our love affair with SUVs is killing people in the streets. According to a recent investigation by the Detroit Free Press/USA Today, the increase in SUV sales over the past several years coincides with a sharp rise in pedestrian deaths in the U.S. — up 46 percent since 2009, with nearly 6,000 people killed in 2016 alone. With SUV sales surpassing sedans in 2014 and pickups and SUVs currently accounting for 60 percent of new vehicle sales, it's no wonder Ford announced in April plans to cease U.S. sales of almost all passenger cars. And this followed Fiat Chrysler's move to virtually an all-truck, -SUV and -crossover lineup. While the Freep/USA Today investigation found that the simultaneous surge in SUV sales and pedestrian deaths comes down to vehicle size, it also points to a lack of action on the part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), even though it knew of the dangers SUVs pose to pedestrians. Also blamed are automakers dragging their feet on implementing active safety features. Using federal accident data, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) determined that there was an 81 percent increase in single-vehicle pedestrian fatalities involving SUVs between 2009 and 2016. Freep/USA Today's analysis of the same data by counting vehicles that struck and killed pedestrians instead of the number of people killed showed a 69 percent increase in SUV involvement. As far back as 2001, researchers at Rowan University forecasted a rise in pedestrian deaths as Americans began switching to SUVs. "In the United States, passenger vehicles are shifting from a fleet populated primarily by cars to a fleet dominated by light trucks and vans," the researchers wrote, with light trucks comprising SUVs.
Ford F-150 SVT Raptor sales jumping to new heights
Thu, 12 Sep 2013Ford can't seem to build F-150 SVT Raptors fast enough. The off-road-ready trucks have been one of the Blue Oval's most reliable sellers, with record sales in eight of the last 10 months and a 14-percent jump in 2013. That's impressive enough, considering that the least expensive Raptor starts at $44,000. Factor in the modded F-150's fuel economy (it's rated at 11 miles per gallon in the city and 16 on the highway) and a national average gas price, as of this writing, of $3.55 per gallon, and its success is as unlikely as Ford's home team, the Detroit Lions, winning the Super Bowl this year (sorry, Lions fans, we're just quoting the experts in Vegas...).
Yet for some reason, Raptors spend an average of just 15 days on dealer lots before being snapped up, which is a quarter of the 60-day industry average. According to Ford's truck group marketing manager, Doug Scott, it's capability that keeps the Raptor selling strong. "What's helping drive Raptor sales is that Raptor delivers unmatched off-road performance to our customers. Raptor is also proof of our commitment to offer a truck for every customer and continuously improving them to meet our customers' evolving needs."
To address the strong demand for Raptors, Ford will bump production from three trucks per hour to five. Not much, we agree. But building an extra 48 trucks per day, at most, seems like a prudent way of addressing demand without oversaturating what is ultimately a niche market. Check out the press release below for more.
2015 Ford Mustang gets pricing, configurator and less weight than expected
Fri, 13 Jun 2014It's here; it's finally here. No more speculating or looking at dealer order guides, the configurator for the 2015 Ford Mustang is finally online. That means you should put down whatever you're doing and build your new 'Stang. Weight data for the new model has also leaked out, and while there is an increase, it's less than previously rumored.
The basic V6 coupe carries a base price of $23,600, plus an additional $825 destination charge for all models. Upgrading to the 2.3-liter Ecoboost costs $25,170, and the Ecoboost Premium is $29,170. If you need a V8 in your life, the Mustang GT is $32,100 or $36,100 with the Premium package. That puts the starting price up about $1,000 over the previous generation for the V6, but the turbocharged four-cylinder starts about $1,400 less than the V6 Premium, which is no longer available. Prices for both V8 models jumped about $1,000, as well.
If you need the convertible Mustang, the V6 starts at $29,100, excluding destination, $1,590 more than last year. The Ecoboost Premium 'vert is $34,670, and the GT droptop is $41,600.
