Selling a Gorgeous, Super RARE Burgundy 1948 Ford F-1 Stake body pickup. I have been around awhile and have been to a ALOT of car shows and have never seen another one quite like this. This truck is the most prized of my Grandfather's personal collection, and a show winner! He purchased the truck back in 1978 (possibly from the original owner) and had the truck fully restored in 1998, with now less than 3k miles on the fully rebuilt engine. He has enjoyed driving the truck to shows and parades a few times a year since restoration. Garage kept and driven on sunny days only!. Meticulously maintained truck! Truck bed is truly a work of art, restored personally by my Grandpa who is a Master woodworker. Bed floor is solid oak, stake sides shown in photos are solid oak stakes with Beech wood slats. Also included with the truck but not shown is a complete set of full length and height side boards made of oak. The body on the truck is absolutely perfect with no rust or evidence of body work anywhere. The only blemish in the paint I could find is on the driver's front fender that was scratched at a local car show last fall. (see photo) The running boards are truly awesome. They were New old stock parts in the original box installed when the restoration was complete. Truck has correct wheels and hubcaps with matching Firestone Bias Ply tires. I can see myself in the paint on the wheels! Very Good tread as this truck sees very few miles per year. The odometer reads 6375. We are uncertain if this is the original mileage due to the age of the truck and the full restoration performed. The interior is nearly perfect and correct. Everything functions as it should. The engine is the original 239 Flathead V8 with single barrel carburetor. Transmission is original 4 speed with Granny low gear. Tan vinyl seat and headliner is in very good condition as seen in photos. All switches, knobs, indicators function correctly. Regular maintenance has been performed religiously. This truck needs nothing to be enjoyed and showed now! I would not be surprised if this truck won awards your first time out! My grandfather would like the truck to go to a good home to someone who will enjoy it as much as he has. You will not find another truck like this anywhere! New York State does not issue titles for vehicles of this age, so the new owner will receive a transferrable registration and a bill of sale. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Serious buyers can e-mail me and I will give you the owner's phone number for questions. Payment: Deposit of $500 will be required by Paypal within 24hrs of auction end. Balance will need to be by certified check or cash in person, within 10 days of auction end. If paying by check, funds will need to clear the bank before the vehicle will be released. Shipping: All shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer.

2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost
Fri, 09 May 2014I'll be honest; when Ford first unveiled its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, I was skeptical. Past attempts at building turbocharged American cars were almost universally awful, I reasoned, so why would Ford's latest effort be any different? This may seem foolish today, considering the success that the growing EcoBoost range has achieved - particularly the 2.0-liter and 1.6-liter mills. Yet I once again found myself questioning Ford.
It's the makeup of the 1.0-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder slotted into the compact engine bay of this Fiesta that has a way of breeding doubt. Three-cylinder engines remain an extreme rarity in the US. What's more, they earned a less-than-desirable reputation for applications in the 1980s and 1990s, and my trepidation about this latest three-pot as a result.
As I found out, though, history is a poor informant of modern technology. The thrust available in other cars with the EcoBoost badge on the back has not gone missing here; something the International Engine of the Year committee has lauded. That august body named the 1.0-liter Ecoboost the best engine of 2012 and 2013. After a week of driving, it didn't take long for my fear of threes to get turned into something like that line of thinking.
Ford books $2.6B pretax quarterly profit
Thu, 24 Jul 2014While its crosstown competitors at General Motors are smarting over a drastic drop in net income to $200 million in the second quarter, Ford has reason to celebrate. The Blue Oval has announced its own Q2 financial results, including a growing net income of $1.3 billion, a $78 million increase over last year. Pretax profits for the company reached $2.6 billion, up $44 million from 2013, but total revenue dropped slightly to $37.4 billion, down from $37.9 billion. Profits per share before one-time charges totaled 40 cents per share, beating Wall Street analysts' expectations of 36 cents a share.
Regionally, the Blue Oval performed strongly, as well. North America posted a record quarterly pre-tax profit of $2.4 billion, a $119 million increase. Europe also showed signs of turn around with its first profit in three years of $14 million after a loss of $306 million in Q2 2013. Ford is actually predicting profitability in the troubled region in 2015. Asia Pacific operations also performed well with $159 million in profits, up $29 million from last year. The only region where the business posted a loss was South America.
According to Automotive News, Ford also announced more precise plans about the changeover to build the aluminum-intensive 2015 F-150. In August, the Dearborn plant will shutdown for eight weeks to retool and its Kansas City plant will do the same next year.
Project Ugly Horse: Part VIII
Fri, 17 May 2013Now With More EcoBoost
There's an EcoBoost 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in there somewhere, and it's headed straight for Ugly Horse.
For the second time in my life, I'm staring at an engine in the back of a truck with no concept of how to get it safely into the garage by my lonesome. The first time this happened, I dragged home a $300 International 345 V8 in the back of my Scout Terra only to discover that the bounds of my manliness terminated well before my ability to muscle that 800-pound cast iron block out of the pickup bed.
