Ford F-100 1978 302 Shortbed Chrome Package C-6 on 2040-cars
Twin Falls, Idaho, United States
This is a 1978 F 100 Ranger short bed pickup, and would be a great start for a project, or use as a daily driver. It has a 302 engine that runs great and gets less than impressive gas mileage. Lot's of room for a bigger motor if that's your interest. It's cold-blooded like most Fords of that time. The transmission is a C-6 and drips a little from under-use, and probably needs a new pan gasket. I recently replaced part of the the factory dual exhaust with 2 new mufflers that are installed with exhaust clamps. It has a behind-the-seat gas tank that has not been used in at least 15 years. This truck has nice chrome details including folding tie points. It is wired for a camp shell. There are two minor rust spots above each of the rear wheel wells. There is some minor paint damage on the right front corner and along the driver door hinges, and the driver side door needs to be adjusted for a better closing fit. Torn front seat, missing channel lining on the driver window. The sliding rear window was installed after-market. It has an after-market stereo and speakers. Good tires, soft ride. The bed has been well used, plenty of dings and scratches (that's a little sand and gravel in the bed in the picture). Please inspect the photos carefully. I have recently replaced the left rear tail light bezel that is missing in the photos. If you want to make payment arrangements outside of Paypal, please contact me. I can accept credit cards. Pleas email with any questions. Good luck!

Crowdsource funding push on to save historic Ford buildings
Thu, 22 Aug 2013Detroit has no shortage of old, abandoned buildings, both within the city and in the surrounding communities. Few, though, have the historical significance of the old Ford Highland Park facility. Home to the very first moving assembly line, Highland Park was designed by the legendary Albert Kahn, and was one of the homes of the Model T.
Now, the Woodward Avenue Action Association is attempting to buy both the 40,000-square-foot admin building, which is located off the historic Woodward Avenue, and an 8,000-square-foot garage. The WAAA's goal is to convert the buildings into an automotive heritage center. The Detroit News spoke to the interim director of the WAAA, Deborah Schutt, who commented, "[Metro Detroit has] not been very good at telling our own story. So we've decided, let's pull everything together and tell our story."
The WAAA made an offer of $550,000 to buy the two buildings, and has $400,000 from the Michigan Department of Transportation and another $15,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. It's trying to raise a further $125,000 through crowd-sourcing, starting a campaign called "Five Dollars A Day," after old Hank Ford's $5-per-day wage for line workers.

2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]
Wed, 12 Dec 20122012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:
