California Original Paint 2 Owner 1964 Ford F100 Camper Special Project Truck ---NO RESERVE

Submitted for you approval is a near complete stock 1964 Ford F100 1/2 ton project truck with original paint. Pretty much a unmolested OG truck pictured. Private auction for your safety. NO reserve. High bid wins it. All the wheeler dealer custom hod rod TV shows are currently restoring these American made V8 muscle trucks to sell for some big bucks. Based on my reseach this particular example was made in San Jose, California back in August of 1963. I believe this one is a pretty rare 1964 1/2 ton camper special because of both the factory 1964 grill & factory rear overload springs pictured. Original Y paint code or 1623 skylight blue. It has a 128" inch wheel base according to the VIN number. This Ford is California born & breed. I found this solid Ford F100 truck tucked deep in a huge garage at an estate sale up here in the Eastern Sierra's. I do have the title. NO DMV back fees are owed. Out of the system. This truck had ONLY (2) two owners according to the seller! All I have done to clean it was to use compressed air from my compressor to blow both the dirt & dust off to show the EXACT condition of this truck just the way I bought it. I have NOT either cleaned/detailed it. You will know what to expect when you buy it. NO hype here. It is a 50 year old truck. Was used mainly on an alfalfa ranch up in the Owens Valley for many decades according to seller info. Please note: It will obviously need a little of this & alot of that to complete this vintage truck to your specifications so bid with that fact in mind. Had a brand new battery but it's dead from sitting. You will need to replace battery, clean out the fuel system, replace old fuel lines, & bleed brakes etc. Anybody out there that tells you any different when restoring/going over an old truck should be avoided. Features most of it's original powertrain. Original 292ci motor or 135HP 2V was running good before it's storage according to the seller. (3) speed transmission shifts good both in & out of gear. Clutch pressure also good. Both components are original/stock to this truck; However the (3) three on the tree column shifter was upgraded a while back to a Hurst floor shifter which is pictured. Has two (2) upgraded glasspacs below. Body, floorpans & body rockers are all pretty darn straight/solid and are pictured clearly. It does have a couple of dents which are mainly isolated to the passenger fender & front bumper. There is a little bit of expected rust here & there. The original bench seat will need to be recovered. Heck its a 50 year old work truck what do you expect? What is unusual both the door & hood are equally aligned to open & close perfectly with a straight gap up & down which is pretty rare indeed for one of these classic trucks. Check out that near perfect super straight tailgate. All & all a fine start for either full restoration or as your shop truck. If I missed something on the listing let me know & I'll try to answer to the best of my ability. DO NOT BID if you can not pay promptly as ebay auctions are both expensive & time consuming. Truck is located in Bishop, California 93514 for your shipping information. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end. Once restored I believe you could sell this classic truck for upwards of 15K. Sold As Is as pictured. I can help load. I can trailer locally within California/Nevada for an additional fee. $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours & full payment due within one week of purchase. Call/text Mike for a chit chat @ seven six zero two six four three nine eight eight. I love talking about classic trucks. Thanks for looking!

How Ford's light lab keeps the sun shining on the new Mustang just right [w/video]

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

Anyone who's bought one of those old school metal shift knobs knows they're really cool until they sit in a parking lot in the sun for a few hours. Then they're not cool at all. Likewise, features such as the aluminum dash on the 2015 Ford Mustang can be all kinds of neat right up until the sun hits it just the right way and sends shards of blinding light through the cabin. The Ford Visual Performance and Evaluation Lab is where engineers figure out how to make sure that doesn't happen.
Cars like said Mustang are parked inside the 30-foot reflecting dome under 6,000 watts of lights that can mimic the sun at any time of day and in any weather condition. Engineers can then spend cold, overcast days inside, testing for interior legibility, glare and reflections on every interior and exterior surface as if it were bright and sunny. They can also learn how a car's sheetmetal and colors will look out of doors, all year round.
Ford showed off the lighting lab without the music and interviews three years ago when the Explorer was being prepared. You can watch it at work again in the video below, and read about it in the press release below that.

Which is more fuel efficient, driving with a pickup's tailgate up or down?

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

Thanks to the smoke wand in the wind tunnel, you can actually see the difference in our video.
Should you drive with your pickup truck's tailgate up or down? It's an age-old controversy that's divided drivers for decades. Traditionalists will swear you should leave the tailgate down. Makes sense, right? It would seem to let the air flow more cleanly over the body and through the bed. But there's also a school of thought that argues trucks are designed to look and operate in a specific manner, and modern design techniques can help channel the airflow properly. So don't mess with all of that: Leave the tailgate up.

Ford could post best-ever profits in Q1 2013

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Analysts are saying that Ford Motor Company may have earned a record $2.7 billion pretax profit in North America during the first quarter of 2013, a number that represents its highest first quarter profit ever. The impressive earnings are further proof that the American automaker is making a solid comeback as the economy begins to recover.
Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan Chase are estimating that Ford's first quarter North American profit may have topped 12 percent. The firm cited the automaker's fresh lineup, but noted that CEO Alan Mulally needs to uphold the pace as the company works to gain ground in the car and utility segments.
Ford's success has been led by increased demand for its F-Series pickup, the best-selling vehicle in the US for 31 years, and by the Fusion sedan that recently recorded its best-ever quarterly sales in the domestic market. Ford is expected to release its first-quarter revenue on Wednesday, of this week.
