This is a very nice classic 1973 Ford F100 pickup. The truck has had one repaint about nine years ago in the original colors(sequioa brown and wimbleton white). It was originally from Arizona and never had any rust, so the body isn't all patched up with bondo. The paint and body on this truck are nearly perfect: no rust, dents, dings, scratches, paint chips, etc-even the bed floor is scratchless! The chrome trim is original for the truck, and is in excellent condition as well. The interior is in great shape. The dash is perfect-no cracks in the dashpad, etc. The seat has been reupholstered at some point-unfortunately the previous owner was a smoker so there are a couple of small cigarette burns on the seat. I don't smoke so it hasn't been smoked in since I've owned it. The headliner and door panels are in great shape. I replaced the carpeting after the truck was repainted,so it has new carpeting. It has AC which does work, but it needs to be recharged because it doesn't blow cold. It has an aftermarket cassette deck(knob-style, so the dash isn't all cut up) which plays fine. This truck is in very good condition mechanically. The previous owner had the engine and transmission rebuilt. It is a 390 V8 with automatic trans. The previous owner also had the brakes re-done. Since I've owned the truck I've replaced the power steering pump and lines, alternator, starter, battery, exhaust, and tires. The engine compartment has been cleaned up and detailed for car shows. The previous owner had the undercarriage undercoated, and I painted over that with por-15 rust resistant type paint, so the underside of the truck is in nice condition too. It has 2 fuel tanks but only the rear tank is functional, front tank would need a new sending unit-the previous owner told me that he never tried using the front tank and neither have I so it hasn't been used in quite some time. I have never had any major problems with this truck in the nine years that I've owned it. It had a little over 99000 miles when I bought it, and has around 103,000 now. It has always been garage kept since I've owned it, and only driven on sunny summer days. It has not seen rain or snow since the repaint. I predominantly use it for classic car shows, or an occaisional Sunday drive. If you are looking for a nice classic Ford truck to take to the car shows, this one would be perfect. It has been a consistent trophy winner at the shows that I've taken it to. The restoration on this truck is very nice, and much attention was paid to detail. It's almost like going back in time and finding one of these when it was nearly new. About the only bad thing that I can say about this truck is the gas mileage is horrible(7-8 mpg). I would really like to see this truck go to someone who's going to keep it as a collector's item and use it for shows, not someone looking for a daily driver. If there is anything specific on the truck that you would like to see that isn't shown in the pics, let me know. I would trust this truck to drive pretty much anywhere, but due to the poor gas mileage and the fact that it is a 40 year old vehicle that hasn't been driven on a regular basis in years, I'd strongly recommend having it shipped.

GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings
Thu, 31 Jul 2014The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.
Ford starting up 2.0L EcoBoost engine production in Ohio
Fri, 22 Feb 2013Joe Hinrichs, Ford's President of The Americas (pictured above), announced today that in late 2014, the automaker will be building the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder at its Cleveland Engine Plant, a move requiring a $200-million investment and the hiring of 450 new employees. European-built Ford products will continue to source this engine from the Valencia, Spain plant where all of these EcoBoost four-cylinder engines are currently built, and the new Cleveland engines will be used for all North American-made models.
Ford is planning to build its popular EcoBoost engines regionally to maximize production capacity and meet customer demand. Last year, Ford sold 334,364 vehicles with EcoBoost engines in the US alone, and that number is expected to swell to more than 500,000 by the end of this year, with global sales expected to total 1.6 million. By 2015, Ford says that 95 percent of its nameplates will offer an EcoBoost engine.
One such vehicle that could be adding an EcoBoost engine, according to Automotive News, is none other than the 2015 Ford Mustang. The report says that Ford could use either the 2.0-liter EcoBoost or an upcoming 2.3-liter EcoBoost in the sixth-generation pony car.
Ford picks Fiesta ST, Transit Connect as this year's SEMA darlings
Sat, 02 Feb 2013SEMA is more than nine months away, but the reveille bugle for the show has just sounded with Ford's call to aftermarket companies for its project-vehicle program. The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST and 2014 Transit Connect van and wagon are the cars The Blue Oval wants to feature, but applicants can submit project vehicles for any product except the GT500, the Raptor, or anything from Lincoln.
Submissions must be completed in two parts, the first being an email to Ford with an overview of the project, like vehicle theme, promotional plan and location display. The second part must be mailed in on company letterhead and gets down to the nuts and bolts of the vision and the provision of company bona fides. The complete proposal is due on March 1, winners will be notified by May 1. Click the link below to get all the details, and for show attendees, get ready to see some funky Fiestas and wild shaggin' wagons in Las Vegas come November.
