1977 Ford F-100 Ranger "free Wheelin'" Ultra-rare on 2040-cars
Ankeny, Iowa, United States
I am selling an ultra-rare 1977 Ford F-100 Ranger that has the exclusive Free Wheelin' package. This vehicle has 88K (I was informed that it was the original miles, but the owner's daughter didn't have any of the documentation to verify this statement, although I believe it) miles. It also has the original factory paint and decals. The inside is amazing and is original as well. It is a 302 V8, automatic that runs good w/no blue smoke when it starts.
The vehicle is factory original except: The rear rims (I don't know why the original owner changed them, maybe because he thought it looked sportier???), break pads, tune-up parts (cap, rotor, wires). I put in a new gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, fuel filter and blew out the fuel lines because the vehicle sat in a garage for a long time not being driven. I also tuned it up, changed the oil and flushed the radiator. The original owner has passed, but his son-in-law put in a new battery. The Ford was a garage find and I am the second owner. I would say it is rust free, but some sticklers would find surface rust on the underbody. I can assure all buyers that it is 99% rust free with no real rust spots, holes or filler/bondo. It is very, very clean. The engine department is pretty clean, not showroom, but pretty darn clean (see pictures). The body on the vehicle is not perfect, but it is in really good shape for the age of the vehicle. There are some small scratches that could probably be buffed out and a few that probably can not be be buffed out. There are a few very small dents, but you would have to look pretty hard to find them. It has the factory push-bar and fog lights (that work). It also has a factory bug guard and mud flaps. The windows roll down easily and the back window opens and closes too. The pickup used to have a factory topper, but the deceased original owner's son in law informed me that it leaked. There is still some adhesive where the topper connected, but it left the bed in amazing condition. No rust in bed or in the tailgate. The AM/FM radio works as well. The interior is in absolutely amazing condition for its age. It is all original and has no cracks in the dash, no ripped seat or torn carpet. The only thing that detracts from it is that a grandchild must have put a "my name is" sticker on the glove box. I believe it would come off pretty easy with some "Goo-Gone". Please view all the pictures and the video. I can send more pics or videos upon request. I wanted to show everything to verify that I believe this vehicle is truly an 88K gem that was garaged and babied. I apologize for the quality of the video. It is in high definition, but I am no cinematographer. The video is shaky, I didn't know whether to get close or stay back, there is annoying outside air, etc. I tried and I can do it again for serious buyers who have specific requests. This vehicle turns heads everywhere it goes. You do not see anything like this on the road and you will have an impossible task of trying to find one as nice as this online ever again. I believe they only made the Free Wheelin' Ford option in 1977 and 1978. I have researched it and have added a few pictures from brochures and online. This vehicle is sold AS IS and I always suggest that a potential buyer have it inspected. It is only $80 to $100 dollars to do so. This vehicle is absolutely awesome and I hate to see it go. I am selling it because it doesn't fit in my garage and something this nice needs to be garaged (I have included pictures of it not fitting in my garage at the end of the photos). 1972 and earlier trucks have been the craze, but I can assure you that the new trend is 73-79. Trucks that are 73-79 have been going for $10K and much more at the Mecum's auctions (you can research this on the Mecum website). Something this rare will be an investment. I wanted to see what my 1975 Chevy Blazer would go for at Mecum's Auction Des Moines two years ago. I was offered $19.5K for it. I am a private seller that only searches out unique cars. I sell about 2 a year and you can review my positive eBay feedback. Please do not bid on this item unless you want to buy it. I am hard working guy and I would appreciate not having to list it again. It is for sale in Iowa locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if I get the right price. Shipping will be the buyer's responsibility and the vehicle will have to be picked up in Des Moines. I am willing to take it to a shipping hub in Des Moines or meeting you in town if you are driving it back. If you are shipping it I usually use Dependable Auto-shippers because they can guarantee 2-week delivery upon request. Brokers can take up to a month if you use them (and it will be sitting outside unfortunately). This vehicle has a clean/clear title in my name. I will only accept PayPal or a confirmed money transfer into my account. No other methods are acceptable, so please do not ask if I will take a check or money order. Please email me or call me if you have any specific questions. Sorry for the book, but I wanted to be as detail oriented as possible. Ask me about the video |

Drive Ford's new Mustang in Need For Speed Rivals
Mon, 16 Dec 2013If waiting for the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang to hit dealerships is just too tall of an order, you'll be happy to hear that there is now an alternative means of getting behind the wheel of America's favorite pony car. The Mustang is making its video game debut in Need For Speed Rivals.
"We worked closely with the development team at EA to provide them with engineering data for the new Mustang, several months before we showed it to the rest of the world," said Ford product licensing manager Mark Bentley. "Computer design models enabled the game developers to create an accurate representation of the new Mustang before it goes on sale."
Players will have access to five unique designs for the Mustang, allowing a degree of individuality beyond solid colors and decals. According to Digital Marketing Manager Andrea Zuehlk of Ford, those designs are drawn from the four most popular designs on the Mustang Customizer, an online, mobile and tablet app that allows the public to design their own custom Mustang. A fifth design, penned by drift racer Vaughn Gittin, Jr., is also available.
Toyota sells six of 10 of hybrids in California
Wed, 31 Jul 2013In an apparent shot back at Ford's increasing market share of electrified vehicles and claim that it accepts more Prius trade-ins for its own hybrids than any other car, Toyota has flexed a muscle and played the numbers game to put the Blue Oval in its place.
Leaning on its hybrid market dominance in California, the Japanese automaker stated that six out of 10 hybrids sold in the Golden State are Toyota models. And it keeps coming: Year-to-date through May 2013, Toyota sold five times more hybrids than Ford. One of every two hybrids in California is a Prius model. In addition, Toyota notes that it has sold 1.5 million Prius vehicles in the US, 90-percent of which are still on the road today.

NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder
Fri, 11 Jul 2014There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
