1975 Ford F100 Shortbox Swb Ranger California Desert Survivor Big Block Red/red on 2040-cars

For sale, 75 F100 lifelong Bakersfield CA rust free desert one repaint survivor truck. A good friend found this truck for me last year, and I bought it from the 2nd owner there. The California blue plates were on the truck when I purchased it and they will be included in the sale. The truck arrived from Cali 100 percent stock, mostly original and in very good condition. The paint was pretty faded on top (I have pics) so I had it repainted in the original Candyapple red. I also installed an NOS grille surround, new windshield, and had the seat re-done in the correct dark red comfortweave from SMS auto fabrics. I put a flowmaster exhaust on and some late model factory allow wheels and Radial T/A's - and that's it. The rest of the truck is bone stock and original right down to the factory spare, holder, jack and handle. Mechanically ready to use as is or take this desirable dry western truck in the best color (red) to the next level. Please ask questions early as I may be away from my computer next weekend when the auction ends. I will contact the winning bidder no later than next Monday.

Exterior: I had the truck painted here locally and while not Concours, it shines beautifully and there are no major flaws. That's not a camera filter in the pics, just smoke from a nearby forest fire. Truck actually looks even better in bright sunlight. It's basically an everyday main street USA auto body shop paint job, casual observers will say it's gorgeous. Veteran car show nit pickers and Barrett Jackson types might note that the truck was not completely disassembled including removing all glass and trim. I've gotten nothing but compliments and thumbs up with the truck. Glass is good and front windshield and seal are new. Weatherstrips were not replaced, and truck was not repainted in the doorjambs or under hood or inside box. No filler other than front corner of hood on passenger side and to fill a crease down passenger side from an encounter with a mailbox at some time in the life of the truck. NO RUST whatsoever, and I know where to look. Will post link to full underside pics if desired, but this truck barely saw rain, let alone snow or salt.. Cab mounts, cab corners, cab drop-offs, floors, all dry and beautiful. Just no issues in that arid country- there's just no moisture.Side chrome trim and good with no pitting, just a few scratches. Front lower box molding is dinged (shown), but LMC sells them new. Grille surround was NOS in the factory box, and very expensive. Front bumper is good, rear has a ding, no pitting on either. I pulled the bedliner and inspected the inside of the box and it's in good condition with no damage. This truck is ready as is for Cars and Coffee, cruise night, or the occasional trip to Home Depot if you want to be surrounded by admirers.

Interior: Original except for seat and carpet, and in good condition. Tight truck with no squeaks or rattles. Door close like a bank vault! Ford really had the body quality figured out on these trucks. Original dash pad and door panels have no cracks, which is pretty amazing. Headliner is good. Inside paint at top of driver door is worn where your arm hangs out the window. As mentioned, the seat was redone to a high standard with NOS material from SMS, which was also very expensive. Original steering wheel has a few cracks like they all seem to. Steering collar has been replaced and is tight and nice. Original radio works great, factory speaker was sun baked so there's an aftermarket unit behind the seat. Everything seems to work including gauges, heater, and horn. Seat belts are a bit faded. Ready to use as and enjoy as is. Even the wife will enjoy driving it with power steering, highway gear and power brakes.

Mechanical: Original 360 FE, C-6 automatic and 3.00 gear 9 inch rear still giving great service. I haven't done anything mechanically to the truck whatsoever. Starts, runs, drives out well. No major issues - engine runs fine and trans shifts well. Oil pressure is fine for an FE, no noticeable smoke or noise. Only leak I've noticed is an engine oil leak from rear main or the back of the intake, haven't figured out which. It's not major but will leave a spot on the garage floor. Ready to use as is for casual duty or upgrade to that hot 390 or 428 with Edelbrock heads if you really want a goer. This truck has been in use and not dormant, the fellow I bought the truck from was using it as an occasional work commuter and run to the dump truck. I've put a few hundred miles on and from what I can tell it's good to go. Front end is tight and brakes work fine, doesn't run hot but temp gauge indicates warmer that it's running. Will show near top of gauge when actual engine temp is right at 190 where thermostat is. Tires are in good condition with great tread, wheels look beautiful but have some minor pitting in the clearcoat - which can be re-done. There is a tire shake around 60mph, I took the truck to the tire shop and they said one wheel is slightly bent. I have since found another wheel and it will be included. I also took the truck to a professional mechanic and he serviced the truck and gave it a clean bill of health with no pressing urgent needs. Overall good strong tight truck!

Pricing/Misc: I got a good deal on this rig and you will too. This era F100 is very hard to find, especially rust free and in the best factory color of that year (red), These trucks book a ton, and restored examples command $20k plus, but the very reasonable reserve on this truck under $8k for quick sale. Transport is readily available and probably cheaper than fixing rust on a Midwest or East Coast truck. Title is clear and in my name.

GOOD LUCK! Keep in mind that with all cars and trucks, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON.  Don't bid expecting a perfect show truck, this is not a complete bolt and nut resto, but a nice survivor truck with new paint and a few other bits. It runs fine, but it' hasn't been completely gone through. Probably unreasonable to expect to fly out here and drive it long distance home.  Keywords 4x4 four wheel Ranger XLT Custom F100 F 100 F 150 F150 F250 F 250 Bronco Camper Special 67 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 75 76 77 78 79

Ford Q1 profits dragged down by warranty costs

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

General Motors isn't the only Detroit automaker posting falling profits in the first quarter. Ford just released its Q1 2014 financial data, and it reported a net income of $989 million, down $622 million from Q1 2013. The drop is partially blamed on higher warranty and recall expenses than the company had anticipated.
Financially, Ford suffered a rough quarter almost across the board. Its pre-tax profit of $1.4 billion was also down $765 million from a year ago. Things were even worse in the North American market where operating profit fell significantly to $1.5 billion, down from $2.392 billion in Q1 2013. However, its global revenue ticked up slightly to $35.9 billion, from $35.6 billion in this period in 2013.
Ford admitted that it spent about $900 million on expenses that it hadn't planned for during this quarter. According to Reuters, the company paid about $400 million in additional warranty and recall costs in North America. The automaker didn't explain why the costs were so much higher than expected. However, in the last three months, Ford has had several recalls, including on the 2001-2004 Escape for rust, Explorer for its steering, Edge for its fuel line and others.

2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost

Fri, 09 May 2014

I'll be honest; when Ford first unveiled its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, I was skeptical. Past attempts at building turbocharged American cars were almost universally awful, I reasoned, so why would Ford's latest effort be any different? This may seem foolish today, considering the success that the growing EcoBoost range has achieved - particularly the 2.0-liter and 1.6-liter mills. Yet I once again found myself questioning Ford.
It's the makeup of the 1.0-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder slotted into the compact engine bay of this Fiesta that has a way of breeding doubt. Three-cylinder engines remain an extreme rarity in the US. What's more, they earned a less-than-desirable reputation for applications in the 1980s and 1990s, and my trepidation about this latest three-pot as a result.
As I found out, though, history is a poor informant of modern technology. The thrust available in other cars with the EcoBoost badge on the back has not gone missing here; something the International Engine of the Year committee has lauded. That august body named the 1.0-liter Ecoboost the best engine of 2012 and 2013. After a week of driving, it didn't take long for my fear of threes to get turned into something like that line of thinking.
