This truck was purchased in oct 2012 from Virginia. Over the winter the original 390 was out to freshen it and ended up replacing it with a totally rebuilt 390 with 0 miles on it that a buddy had sitting in his shop. Everything from the 650 Edelbrock carb to the oil pan is brand new. The engine has 1800 miles on it presently with no issues. Also installed new ceramic Hedman "elite" headers, pipes and magnaflow stainless mufflers that sound great on a strong running 390. The motor is backed by arebuilt C-6 3speed auto trans and a 9" rearend. While the engine was out the engine bay was stripped and finished it in ceramic satin black paint. Everything under the hood has been replaced including all the hoses, cables, heater control, radiator, starter, alt, raq joint, steering box, brakes, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder. Inside the steering colume was replaced with a tilt out of a 79 lariat with the 14" wheel.Also replaced the dash pad, speedometer/ gauge cluster bezel, sun pro tach, am/fm cd player (sony) with Kicker speakers in the doors, speedometer cable and rear view mirror. Also installed were 2002 lariat 6 way power seat with lumbar support(working) and cup holders in the armrest for comfort with blue LED's under the seat. This truck has a totally solid body with absolutely no cab mount or floor rot issues. It has minor radiator support rust on the right side, the underside is partially cleaned up and partially cleaned up and painted ( from rearend back and front cab mounts forward). The outside body has about a 10 year old paint job, so the truck is not perfect but it draws attention everywhere it goes . If you are looking for a early 70's Ford truck with a little cosmetic work left to do to make it your own, this is the truck for you! Will also consider letting the original numbers matching 390 (drove the truck 10 hours home with) go for an additional cost. Vehicle pickup is your responsibility, NO DELIVERY! 2015 Ford Expedition stays the course, adds EcoBoost power
Tue, 18 Feb 2014The era of the body-on-frame, fullsize SUV is rapidly vanishing in favor of smaller, unibody crossovers. However, Ford still sees life in the segment with the reveal of the updated 2015 Expedition, now available (solely) with the company's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. The new truck will make its public debut at the 2014 DFW Auto Show in Dallas on February 19.
The loss of the previous 5.4-liter V8 in favor of Ford's 3.5-liter, direct-injected, twin-turbocharged V6 engine might rankle some of the Expedition's fans, but Ford claims that the change gives the SUV better fuel economy, more power and increased low-end torque than before. Unfortunately, official engine specifications won't be released until later this year, but Ford says engine output will be similar to the 365 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque that this powerplant produces in other applications. The EcoBoost is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and the SUV now uses electrically assisted power steering, for an even greater fuel economy advantage. Ford claims this also allows for better maneuverability at low speeds and better feel at high speeds.
Exterior styling is basically unchanged for 2015. The front end has the same three-bar chrome grille and headlight design, but the lower air dam gets added chrome and LED lamps. The rear gets more brightwork on the hatch, and there's a chrome-tipped exhaust pipe. As before, Ford is offering the Expedition in two wheelbase lengths - 119 inches and 131 inches. A new, optional, continuously controlled damping system alters suspension settings constantly based on 46 parameters and offers comfort, normal and sport modes (just like the Expedition's sister, the recently refreshed and decidedly less-attractive Lincoln Navigator).
Ford builds USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang for charity
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Each year since 2008, Ford has created a one-off Mustang to celebrate military aviation, and the cars have been auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Gathering of Eagles charity event to raise money to inspire the next generation of aviators. This year's charity car is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, which also helps celebrate 60 years of Thunderbirds air show excellence.
Of all the EAA charity cars, this Thunderbirds Edition is the most in depth. Painted to match the F-16 Tomcat fighter jets used by Thunderbirds, this Mustang also gets a widebody kit and 22-inch Forgiato wheels to go with the cockpit's Recaro bucket seats, rear-seat delete and modified navigation screen and gauge cluster. Even the Mustang's projector puddle lights have been changed to show an aircraft silhouette - rather than the Mustang's galloping horse logo - when the doors are open.
