Up for Bids is a 1972 Ford F-100 long bed. This truck has a good running 390 V8 and 4 speed granny geared tranny. Its not pretty but she runs and drives pretty good for an old gal. its got custom dual exhaust, chrome rims, and it looks like at some point someone was going for a rat rod theme. Got lots of new parts. all new belts and radator hoses, new exhaust flanges, BRAND NEW re-upholstered (original) seat, new carburetor, new electric fuel pump, and more. The body is primered and most of the chome molding and emblems have been removed and are long gone. The passanger front turn signal is missing, as is the headliner and dash pad. The pass door is dented but fully functional. drivers door has a small dent. Except for the battery tray and a few minor spots in the bed there is NO RUST on this truck!!! Fenders, Frame, Floor, Quaters and bed (minus a few minor spots) are solid. Seriously my 92 suburban has more rust than this thing! Truck runs pretty good. could use some fine tuning. shes a little tempermental when cold but when she warms up she runs like a champ. New Carb was installed this past summer and is "tuned" for hot weather. Clutch feels good and the tranny feels strong. 4 wheel Drum Brakes work good. Tires have some dry rot and could use replacing in the not so distant future, but not too bad. Used to tow my boat, tows great, didn't even notice I was towing. Everything works except the speedo (needs a cable). has heavy duty rubber floor and a custom made wood shiter handle. This truck would be a great resto or rat rod project. think of the possibilities. includes tool box. Truck is Located in Apache Junction Arizona which is about 20-25 minutes from Pheonix Sky Harbor Airport. Truck has a clean notorized title ready to go. Due to its age, truck is eligble for historical registration which negates the need for emissions testing. Truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early if it sells.

Ford patents a multi-touch version of its classic keypad

Fri, Sep 9 2016

For decades, Ford has offered a keypad on the doors of their cars that would allow owners access with the right code. Amazingly, the keypad has survived almost unchanged except for a recent touch button version. A new patent from the Blue Oval shows the keypad may get a big upgrade soon. The first big change is that it looks like the keypad may move to the key fob. Although it might be possible to have it on the car itself as well, the patent only seems to focus on the key fob. In addition, the fob will now be a multi-touch pad similar to that of modern smartphones. This will allow for more diverse code entries, according to the patent's description. Instead of just a simple number code, owners could enter a code that involves swipes and keystrokes, and even simultaneous keystrokes. For instance, you could enter a code that requires swiping from 1 to 3, followed by holding 2 and 4 to unlock the car. The patent also seems to indicate that this keypad would then display unlock functions and other functions on the fob after the correct code is entered, thus making it more than just a way to unlock the car. As for the practical implications of this keypad system update, it could provide an added layer of security. If someone steals your keys, they would have to also know your access code to get into the car. Whether this would also help make the key and car harder to hack would remain to be seen, though. Another possible benefit could be the prevention of accidental lock and alarm button presses, although that likely isn't a common issue. There could be potential downsides as well. If used as an extra layer of security, the legitimate owner would have to punch in their code on the fob to get in, which would render proximity key benefits relatively useless. Moving the keypad to the fob would also mean owners couldn't get into their cars without having the key with them. We don't have any clues as to when this could become a feature, but it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement, so it could show up in the next few years. Meet Shelby Mustang GT500 Miller, Iowa's latest hatchet-wielding criminal

Fri, Jul 11 2014

Well, we've found the long-lost cousin of yesterday's Bentley-tattooed criminal from Florida. This is Shelby Mustang GT500 Miller. No, seriously. While his name seems just like the sort of thing we'd expect the Sunshine State to produce, he actually hails from Iowa. Despite coming from the Hawkeye State, Miller was arrested for a decidedly Floridian offense – getting in a bar fight and then returning with a hatchet. The only way this story could be more Florida is if meth, a manatee or bath salts were involved. The fight, which was at the Cheap Seats Sports Bar, started off typically enough, with a verbal argument in the parking lot (please, please let his nemesis be named "Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Smith"). This, naturally, attracted passing police officers. Things were broken up and some friends took Miller to his home, which was apparently just behind the bar. That's when he returned with the hatchet tucked under his shirt. Miller promptly proceeded to take out the implement of destruction in the bar's bathroom and... forget about it entirely. Fortunately, the police hadn't left the area yet. Not surprisingly, Miller was arrested for a parole violation, as well as public intoxication and going armed with intent. Still, cool name, bro. Ford previews updated Police Interceptor Utility for Chicago debut

Tue, Feb 3 2015

With more law enforcement agencies across the United States alone than we'd care to count (or ever encounter), selling police cars means big business for American automakers, with Ford, Chevy and Dodge competing to fill the motorpools of every police department, sheriff's office and government agency in the land. For its part, Ford offers the Taurus-based Police Interceptor sedan and the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility, and it's preparing to unveil a revised version of the latter at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show in the same city where it's built. Dearborn hasn't given us much to go on with this teaser, showing just a darkened front shot of the vehicle in question with its emergency lighting all aglow. But it's fairly clear that the Interceptor Utility has been given many of the same updates applied recently to the Explorer on which it's based. That starts with the revised sheet metal, but considering that the Interceptor Utility exclusively packs V6 power, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four that was one of the biggest updates to the civilian Explorer isn't likely to carry over. Ford does, however, promise that the revised Police Interceptor Utility will be "even better" than the model it replaces" and pack "more high-tech features." Related Video:
