GEORGIA PEACH!!!!! SOLID SOUTHERN V-8 SHORT BED TRUCK….PERFECT TO MAKE A STREET ROD/CRUISER!!!! 1968 FORD F-100 RANGER SHORT BED Truck sold new in Blue Ridge, Georgia and was owned by the same family until December 2013 (45 years). Original unrestored 1968 Ford F100 Ranger in great condition. Truck has 113,134 miles on original 360 2bbl v-8 and automatic transmission. Engine runs great, and transmission shifts well. Truck has recent tune up including rebuilt carb, points and condenser, plugs and wires. Truck also has new battery and 4 new tires. Body is in great shape - body panels are straight and fit well. Doors function wonderfully and shut with a solid 'click'. Bed is solid with some light surface rust. There is some damage to driver front hood/headlight bezel/fender where owner ran into a column while parking in their garage ...what a shame because the rest of the truck is amazingly straight. Rust: the cab support at the rear of the cab (drivers side) has some rust, as do the cab corners behind the lower body trim. Steering is tight, and truck cruises straight down the road, even when you take your hand off the wheel. Interior is complete and in good shape for its age. Seat cover is torn on drivers side, carpet is 45 years old. Visors and Headliner are in good shape. Original Radio still in place. Dash pad has crack in middle. Steering wheel is almost perfect - has 1 small crack at base of the horn ring. Dome light still works when you open the door, so does the bed light! Gas gauge not currently working. Has exhaust leak on passenger side. Truck was built in January 1968 at Ontario, Canada and sent to Atlanta, Georgia (DSO); the factory color was Harbor Blue. This 1968 Ford Truck has numbers matching motor (360 V-8) and 3 speed automatic transmission. The truck came with manual steering and manual brakes. The undercarriage is in good shape, surface rust only. The truck has been in northwest Georgia its whole life. This truck is an excellent candidate for a customized truck that needs little body work and little mechanical work. Please ask any questions for more information and if needed, more pictures. This is a 45 year old truck that has never been restored. It has very solid original sheet metal. The paint has faded a good bit, but the truck is very straight and has great gaps. Junkyard Gem: 1973 Mercury Marquis Brougham 4-Door Pillared Hardtop
Tue, Nov 7 2023Ford's Mercury Division debuted the Marquis in the 1967 model year, as a sporty coupe based on a stretched Ford LTD chassis. When the LTD got an update for 1969, so did the Marquis, and production of that generation of the top-of-the-line Mercury continued through 1978 (the Grand Marquis hit streets the following year). The 1969-1978 Marquis was a big, imposing land yacht, and the Brougham version came absolutely loaded with affordable luxury. Today's Junkyard Gem is a Marquis Brougham from the first year of the Malaise Era, found in a Phoenix self-service car graveyard recently. This car appears to have spent decades sitting outdoors in one of the harshest climates in the country, and so it's in rough shape. The vinyl top received the full thermonuclear treatment and is mostly obliterated by now. The interior got thoroughly cooked as well. Still, its original opulence shines through if you use some imagination. What hurts is that this car was packed with most of the good options, including the mighty 460-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor. The price for the 460 was just $76 in this car, or around $548 in today's money. The base engine was a 429 (7.0-liter). Power numbers were way down for 1973 when compared to a couple of years earlier, partly as the result of tightening emissions standards but mostly due to the switch from gross to net power ratings that began midway during 1971 and was completed by the end of 1972. This engine was rated at 202 horsepower and 330 pound-feet. The only transmission available was a three-speed automatic. We can assume that the original buyer of this car and its single-digit fuel economy had a rough time when the OPEC oil embargo hit in the fall of 1973. Believe it or not, air conditioning was not standard equipment on the '73 Marquis Brougham (you had to move up to a Lincoln for that). This one even has the automatic temperature control feature, adding a total of $508 to the cost of this car (about $3,661 in 2023 dollars). That AM/FM/8-track radio—or, in fact, any radio—was an extra-cost option as well, with a price tag of $363 ($2,616 after inflation). The MSRP for the 1973 Marquis Brougham sedan (known as a "pillared hardtop" thanks to the frameless window glass) was $5,072, which comes to $36,555 in today's dollars. Obviously, its out-the-door cost would have been much higher with all the options.
Hot sales have Detroit automakers shortening summer shutdowns
Tue, 08 Jul 2014Back in May, there was speculation that the Detroit Three automakers would maintain or perhaps even extend their traditional summer shutdowns, mostly due to a bitingly cold winter that saw below-freezing temperatures infiltrate the southernmost reaches of the US, putting a chill on auto sales. Now, though, the numbers are in, and thanks to some promising sales figures, it looks like some domestic line workers are going to be working clear through July, in some cases.
According to Automotive News, Ford has slashed its traditional two-week hiatus for factory workers in half at four of its plants, while both Chrysler and General Motors will keep factories running nonstop (two plants in Chrysler's case and a third of GM's factories).
This is, as we said, thanks to some positive numbers. Chief among those is the Seasonal Adjusted Annual Rate, which was at an eight-year high of 17 million units. Individual figures were less promising. GM, embroiled in its recall scandal, still saw a one-percent increase while Ford dropped six percent in year-over-year sales. Chrysler was the big winner, though, with a nine-percent jump in June.
eBay Find of the Day: 25-station video gaming trailer w/ bonus Ford F-250
Fri, Nov 28 2014Why, you might be asking yourself, is Autoblog showing me an eBay Motors listing for a 2006 Ford F-250 and a box trailer (with a badly cropped photo to boot)? It's not because we're highly interested in this blue-collar rig, to be sure, but rather because we're interested in throwing the greatest Forza party of all time. Housed in that innocuous white 26-foot trailer is a gamer's delight, with 25 Xbox 360 systems connected up to 25 high-definition monitors and 24 headsets to keep everyone locked into the action (one of the stations is outside the trailer). When connected up to one of two included generators, the setup allows for two-dozen combatants to square off, back-to-back and head-to-head. Sure, the Buy It Now price of $79,000 seems steep considering the trailer will need about ten grand worth of Xbox One or Playstation 4 upgrades in the near future. But that doesn't mean you couldn't squeeze out a few more years of massive multiplayer fun. Check out the listing here, and do let us know if you buy it, we'd love to come over and game.
